The permanent aspect keeping is probably the best thing for me...
Agreed, easily the best part for me as well.
But is it reset every seaon?
@@Mercueryprobably/hopefully
I don't think it is as relevant as people may think. Yellows are going to drop with one less affix compared to legendary. It seems yellows are no longer be used in the end game
@@CostelloDamianYes yellows will be useless in the end game
We have control over 3 out of 5 affixes now as opposed to barely any control over 1 out 4 previously. The improvements to re-rolling are welcome.
yeah and just the fact that we don't have to glance over 10 lines of text on every item that drops with lots of weird shit like damage on tuesdays is the best thing for me.
now we get like
500 strength
25 % more crit damage
300 health
and then we can add even more stats to it, but we don't get eye cancer from the first glance
This was exactly my thoughts as well.
oh Yes!
The affixes rework actually is cool, loads of potential to really have some unique items. they can build more on this system by having the recipes in the future like legendary affixes to be baked in further. I really see a lot of potential in it.
My thoughts also. They can innovate more class specific affixes through recipes.
100 percent, they have these cool system they can build further and expand, good move for d4 devs.
@johnWayne-vd1qy Last Epoch is a good game. But the gear is sooooo boring.

its literally what d4 has done now, what the fuck are you smoking? or are you choking on something there? not smoke i mean@@AlphaSilverback
I'm doing a full 1 to 100 to test out everything. So far.. feels rly good. New helltides are packed with monsters and a rly good way to lvl up, crafting feels really good, etc. Season 4 is def going to be fun! Can't wait to see what they're going to add as a seasonal mechanic with all that new stuff.
"damage on Tuesdays" gets me every time
It shouldn't. That's a bug. It should only get you on a Tuesday
@@SuperLifestream Best comment
Guess you haven't heard the "Damage to ugly enemies" and "Damage to frozen enemies who are moving" yet :P
I'm not sure what he is talking about these stats are still around, got a ton of items with DMG to close and crap still
Why Tuesdays?
Helltides being available from level 1 feels good - although I have to admit once I took the boost (to start a new char and skip the campaign) the best thing was having all the map renown stuff out of the way to let me play the game instead of run around and redo stuff. Might just be a personal opinion but starting a new character and just 'getting into the play' without having to run around and redo stuff was about the best feeling ever. Leveling is fun - chores aren't. I'd love to see them do this going forward. The rest of it felt better - I'm optimistic and I noped out of the game before season 1 even dropped.
Lowering the drop rate for everything is a great change
It didn't feel lowered at all in the ptr for me, at least for legendaries. And there's a problem with rares not dropping as often...lack of veiled crystals.
@@ShipdacheeseLegendary drop rate is doubled in the ptr.
They doubled drop rates for legendaries on ptr, but if they don't require veiled crystals to reroll on enchanting then sure but if they are required less drops equal less rerolling
@@Shipdacheese In the patch notes, if you read it, it says its ony doubled in the ptr
@@toddschwiebert9100 veiled crystals are used for everything...masterworking, tempering etc. Not just re-rolling
“Damage on Tuesdays” reminds me of the episode of Star Trek when Kirk makes up “Fizbin” card game
As a new player, I like this change as it makes it more straightforward initially to understand which gear to keep, but then allows you to tailor it If you choose.
This has me excited to play for the fist time since Beta and the first few campaign playthroughs! Could not stomach the time required to sort through yellows for the gems. I look forward to being able to play into upgrades while leveling and then the ability to tweak at the top end seems awesome. Codex is such a huge win as well.
Yeah I've never made 100 because after tier 4 it was just scrapping whole inventories of crap. Looking forward to codex change too; i feel like it'll help that I can test something out and go back without having to sacrifice my codex power
Thanks for your review! I’m totally looking forward to Season 4!!!
I was thinking about this:
How about we encounter a unique (not remodeled) boss fight every ~50ish levels down the pit?
They could also have unique drop pools with special items only dropped by them, similar to the bosses on the map.
It would be so cool to have like sub-story bosses in the pit, there's a lot more potential here than just to have 1000 levels of the same dungeons.
Not that I'm complaining, I'm having a lot of fun on the PTR, just saying that the Pit could be even better!
I agree sounds like a cool idea mostly. One problem with that is that if you get a unique boss on X level of the pit and he has specific drops, once you're deeper in, you don't want to be doing lower levels again to farm loot. But I think your idea of having a stage boss even every 10-20 levels would be a great addition, even if they didn't have specific loot. Just to feel like a marker of progress and to mix it up.
Currently running a minion build, no uniques and only a few tempering upgrades and so far it's viable to 110 quite easily. Going to try a Rogue today I think or maybe a Sorc. It seems like there will be more combinations, almost the opposite of D3 as I think I ran Unhallowed Essence multishot build more seasons than not. Hopefully this actually holds true! I did brick a couple of items but didn't feel like it was the end of the world or anything as I still had other items I could temper.
every time I think about giving this game a chance, I remember that you only get 6 stash tabs. smh.
Man that multishoot build sure was fun in D3. Never really played Amazon in D2 but filling the screen with arrows just feels amazing.
Have not played D4 yet, but since it’s 50% off right now I am seriously considering it.
First time player here I went necromancer bone/corpse with alot of minion buffs and I'm smashing it currently level 65 on world tier 3 l.
HYYYYPE!! So many awesome changes, thanks for compiling them.
Had way more fun than I expected. I haven't played since Season 1 and I'm genuinely excited to check back in when the season starts.
its been great ive made so many videos thanks Rhykker This PTR has been nice
Thanks so much!
Wow, I'm actually excited for D4 for the first time since the beta. Didn't see that coming.
Ty for the video the changes are looking good. I can't wait to try on my ps5 in season 4. It looks like a step in right direction double swing twister barb looks cool
I love how thoughtful all of your videos are bro
15:20: Barb + beans = disaster
Barbs continue to colled obnoxious builds that annoy everyone in events :)
@@mapron1 In general, it'd be great if we got some options to limit visibility of other players' effects, like a lot of MMOs have.

Big fan of the pit being added
itemization has really be well worked, i love that base item are simple and after it you work to make the item more complete with tempered and master-working
exactly. it was such a chore to look through a whole inventory of yellows, full of stats like "11 % more vulnerable damage to enemies affected by your shadow damage over time spells"
Definitely hopeful, I'd love to come back.
Ty Rhykker, sounds great :) I'm realy looking forward to season 4 :D
I'm actually excited again for Diablo 4. A lot of these changes look promising.
As somebody who exclusively wants to play minion Necro until the heat death of the universe, I can't tell you how cool minions are on PTR.
Necro finally plays like a minion based class and I love it.
oh sounds nice
must check it out
They're not getting wiped out immediately on end-game content?
Zoom out feature? I'm in!
I'm not even kidding...it actually bugged me so much...
It's 20%. Not saying that isn't good but. 20%. 😂
I guess it is something.
it feels like its not very noticeable at first but once you leave town you notice how nice the zoom feels@@FireRobynDixon
This is a fantastic overview of how the changes feel. Thanks.
thanks for the great video breaking down the changes coming. =O)
helltide sounds fun now. uber boss should be taking 5 minutes to fight, if it were to die as fast as trash mobs its not uber anymore.
I appreciate your cautious optimism.
These are the sorts of amazing changes that I didn't expect us to really see until an expansion, like with Reaper of Souls for D3.
Dope video keep them coming!
Agreed on the crafting mats. We do still need yellows for crafting and not a huge amount were dropping in T4.
If that is their only function, they might as well just drop the mats and spare us the trip to the blacksmith for salvaging. In their current state, whites/blues/yellows simply should not drop once you reach WT4.
That is of course a bandaid solution. A much better solution would be to change those item types to give them a purpose.
@@FzNd Let's see how they deal with the feedback. I saw trying to change an aspect on a tempered item could take a ton of yellows...so one way or the other we still need yellow mats in T4 the question is how we will get the large amounts we need for some of the crafting. Drops would be less desirable and just the mat drop would be best. :)
Now imagine with the droprate returned to normal. Like he said there's at least 100% increased drop rate.
Personally I feel like there should have been an upgrade system from blue to rare to legendary. Then maybe some runes(runewords) to create the final version of your weapon.
Blues and rares already have the same amount of affixes now. Why not lean into that?
At the end of the day, what's going to matter is what you can do with the build once you do have it 'complete'.
My aggravation with playing this game is exactly what you stated: I have to portal back to town halfway through a nightmare dungeon just to unload or sacrifice materials, and I always have one to two full stash tabs after playing for a single afternoon and then I have to waste an hour going through them later. If they correct just that stuff, I'm in.
Would be amazing if Diablo dev's didn't always Mess up storage, only dev team that limits storage, on a Game MAINLY ABOUT LOOT
I think that will be pretty much solved in this update!
@@Brandon1267 probably not lol the devs are muppets.
It's solved, most of everyone's stash was aspects, that's all gone to the codex
@@Cameron-fk5fk Not for people who want to play the market and trade a bunch.
Last epoch has less than 30 devs and they're able to figure out an infinite stash tab system.
Good overview of the bigger changes/additions to the game. I've finally had a chance to get some decent playtime in and I'll add couple more nice revisions. Nightmare dungeons are much more simplified in terms of sigil modifiers...on the ancestral sigils I've found/crafted, there's just one positive modifier (highlighted in green) and one negative modifier (and it gives the monster level as well) so this makes it much easier to not only sift through sigils but also a bit easier in terms of gameplay. One caveat is that I haven't done any sigils beyond level 51, so perhaps higher level sigils have more negative mods.
However, I discovered an interesting incentive to run Nightmare Dungeons - goblin packs! Twice I've run into packs of 4+ goblins (they were gathered around a shrine) and it was a lot of fun chasing them down. Goblins do indeed drop boss summoning mats (and also tempering manuals I believe)...also, the end of dungeon rewards can include both tempering manuals and crafting mats, so Nightmare Dungeons seem to be a nice alternative to farming in The Pit and/or Helltide. Given that drop rates in Season 4 are likely to be reduced overall, hunting down goblin packs could be a good tactic to get more legendaries and maybe a +2 or more enhanced stat version.
Great video; very informative.
After seeing the campfire I decided to start playing S3. While playing I realized that I enjoy the game, BUT I hate the end of a run, of any kind, just because of loot sorting. So much so that I stopped playing. So I am excited to play D4 2.0 😀 I think this is going to bring many back to the game. I said "I think" not for sure lol.
At the very least it has me interested enough to make a S4 toon and try it out, so I’d say we’re starting out on a minor W. Maybe a major one but that’s dependent on me actually having fun lol
The brand new "zoom-out" camera is great as well.
its not zoomed out enough...its a joke. its not even a slider its just normal and "far"...
@@mr.izanami1796 Well, i think the game engine limitations are the main reason for the way they implemented new camera view. I'm using an ultra-wide 34" monitor and with the "far" camera setting and I can see a lot of added bricks, stones and other materials that the designers have used to fill empty peripheral space near the edges of the screen in dungeons.
In love with the new tempering system ! ❤
Rhykker, did you notice the Lighting changes in the beginning starting up the game the first time? There is a "Grim" lighting mode with skeletons (for example) looking darker, and a second option that has skeletons, characters, etc highlighted. Is this coming to live? I can't find it anywhere in the PTR notes. It is NOT in live currently.
I was going to test PTR but 95gb download on my internet is a no no lol
Looks like I'll be coming back to D4... at least for a while.
Stay a while and… play 🤔
Just finished my battle pass and was still having fun on a fireball sorc after getting investing jnto the paragon board of all things. Excited for next season already.
Is the aspects you salvage account wide or character only? so if I am playing a sorc and a barb can I farm aspects with my higher level for my lower level?
tbh the greater rift mechanic is kinda overhated, the poe map system is literally just "heres an area, go kill the boss" - there`s obviously much more to it but at its core its just "run around and kill stuff" - good arpg endgame systems *at thier core* dont need to be some crazy reinvent the wheel, revolutionary thing, so the pit really sounds like a good idea for the game
Having not played D3, I kinda dig the pit/greater rifts. Would I appreciate something a bit more innovative? Absolutely. Am I happy to have a more streamlined dungeon tier system to progress? Yup. If they can come up with something new/fun/innovative for end game then D4 will be cookin.
The majority of people rolling their eyes at this isn't because it's "the same thing over and over so it's bad"
It's more of why the fuck wasn't this in the game in the first place?
It was a system that worked in D3 and people loved it.
Spoken like someone who has never played PoE. The map system has an entire skill tree with more depth than everything in D4 combined.
@@Cryttanz I tried to get into POE, but I work 50+ hours/week at a job with lots of data, SQL, excel etc... and it felt too much like my job 😂
@@hectords164Excatly! I always had fun running rifts in D3. I thought the Gauntlet would be basically rifts in D4 but i was honestly disappointed with it. I dont want to have to plan out every step i take in a dungeon for max benefits so that i have a chance to get on a leaderboard. I just want to kill stuff and get meaningfull rewards. And the rifts satisfied that need.
I was already enjoying D4, it’ll only be better now
Nice! excited to try it!
So can I use the codex of wisdom to repeatedly overwrite a legendary item over and over again if I get upgraded powers
Seems to me like they have two teams of devs working on this game: the heavy hitters, and the pillow fighters. S1/S3 compared to S2/S4 is a strikingly noticeable difference in both quality and quantity of content.
S1/S3 felt like filler content
One of teams was surely the A Team that worked on Diablo 2 Resurrected....would explain why we haven't gotten D2R updates in such a long time 🥺
This comment would apply if we had seen any of season 4 in the PTR, but there is none. The gear changes and crafting system has nothing to do with the seasonal teams lmao 😂 I understand your point but the PTR is in no way indicative of either seasonal team as they have nothing to do with the Loot 2.0 overhaul. Once season 4 comes out I’m sure your comment will once again apply.
@@GDub356 Then why was S4 delayed???
@@faceman3585I’m sure it has to do with combining these massive changes and the season. They didn’t want to reveal the season during the PTR and I like that. Keeps the anticipation high while also getting a little sneak peak during ptr with gear.
Please Rhykker, don't complain about the difficulty. Unless your playing on world tier one, the fact that there was a difficult encounter is SO WELCOME. The most fun i've had with this game is when i've struggled, please don't suggest to take it from us lol.
I generally agree, unless it actually took him 5 minutes, in which case that's ridiculous.
No, it's not. Boss fights need to be memorable. PoE has long, tough encounters, release D3 had Belial and Diablo and all of D2 and 1's bosses and various other encounters were tough.

@Rhykker Regarding upgrading the base Aspects in the Codex of Power by salvaging legendary items - will this be per-character or account wide? Meaning, if I salvage a legendary with 10/10 Aspect X, that's saved to the Codex, but will other characters on my account now have that Aspect at 10/10 as well, or do other characters also need to find and salvage items with the same aspect?
Yes u alts will have access to the best aspect u found in codex.
I love the buff and rework of the gems and that the NPCs are more consolidated in town!
Haven’t tried the pits yet but looking forward to it
It seems like a great step, but the problem is that trust is gone for many people. I will play seasons, just like I did in D3, but it is hard to see myself getting involved like I did with D2.
Thankfully, we have other options these days.
Devs take advice from diablo 3 streamers
Diablo 3 streamers when Diablo 4 becomes Diablo 3: :o
Finally have time to try this game. Would you recommend waiting until S4 for the big system changes or is it fine to start now?
Will there be any reason to play with friends/ group up? I.e healing, buffing, shielding, supporting teammates or is it just race to to do damage still?
What was wrong with D2 itemization and why do they refuse to go back to a similar system?
Aah, just 5 more test realms and the game will be ready to play. Great!
Coming into beta version.
Thanks for showing the gems, I've been trying to find that info and haven't been able to to now lol
I wonder if the Aspects we've already Imprinted on our Items will show-up in the New Codex? And can we put the Aspects we've already removed from items, in the Codex? I'm a little confused.
Chile. You salvage an item with an aspect and it will be saved in the codex permanently. Codex will always save the aspects with the highest value.
Lot of people said D3 was bad... now look at D4 doing the same to fix it. Maybe D3 was not that bad in the end. And Im not talking about itemisation, but... the entire thing.
D3 is bad cause the graphic is too cartoony..now with D4 graphic is perfect
@@dazhxtan But the "Too cartonish" is like games being pixel art. Was part of it's time. D4 only have a better graphics motor, then? And you need a better PC for a better game? That sound... Bananas.
The reason it's becoming like D3 is because its core systems are quite similar to the previous game. Everything is dependent on weapon damage, so the only core stats anyone needs is weapon damage. You can see that with the need to scale everything into weapon % for it to be usable...
They could have done a lot with their items. Instead the endgame itemization is trying to get +1 on the affix you want.
Wide as a lake shallow as a puddle is still going to be an issue unless they completely redo the core formulas to make things scale in unique ways. Spell damage, damage over time, weapon attacks, minion stats. That's the criticism that people have with Diablo's systems and that even an ex D3 dev acknowledged.
They made the systems too simple and streamlined, and D4 is repeating that.
As for D3 itself... Oof. Where do you want to start?
Cartoony graphics? Yeah, not a result of the system capabilities of the time. When potential players criticised them for that the devs attacked them. Fail.
'no end game'. But D2 didn't have an endgame either, you might say. But it did. there was uber Diablo, then the path to get to the uber trio fight. It wasn't there in the beginning, but they did add that in. Something D3 never did.
The fact they hid the ability to have multiple skills of the same type assigned behind an option?!
The fun of these games and what makes stories for the community isn't the treadmill or the punching bag. It's getting out of the gym and fighting the heavyweight champion that only 1% of players face. While also letting others do infinite baal runs or hope for a Zod rune. Or farm keys for someone else to do the encounters.
@@ferinzz I agree with that you say in the "thinking" part.
I played Torchlight 1&2 and the cartoon style was trending in that years. TL IP was great because they focus in a light story with good items and bananas options. But the best part was the great value they put in my time and not in the competition again others. You really never lost in D2, or TL.
In D3 you didn't played as you like... But post 2.0 for me was great the "stomp the demons". I did 60 or 50% of the 30+ seasons when the game went bananas. D4 is in no way "bananas mode" at the moment. Really boring for streamers, really boring to players that have little time, hard to swallow for whales, vicious circle of devs teams without energy every patch.
The game market is huge! More than the 90s with the internet. And people can play a lot of games at the same time. And replay games from 20 years ago, too. Cartoon graphics is a no problem for me if the game take me 16 of 31 season of time.
It's crazy that D2 LOD 1.08 was more deep and fun than current D4
💯
Does the aspect change make gambling even more important now? to get those perfect roll legend affixes and are world bosses still worth doing?
Super excited about these changes and for the next season to drop!!
SO far so good. D4 good.
People are problematic as much as D4. More damage in crowd controlled enemies is not hyper conditional.
I need a tl;dr. Is it actually possible to farm for a specific affix now, or is it still just farming loot till your eyes bleed and hope one of the 64651684 legendries you get has the one affix to make your build work. The legendary pool was way too big for me to enjoy the game before.
@rhykker did they rework any of those 20 extremely rare monster rare drops?
In my opinion Blizzard did it, they actually saved Diablo 4.
I don't understand why people give D4 such a hard time. I enjoy it quite a bit. Is it the only game i play? No. Games don't need to be played forever always. Enjoy it for what it is and if you want things changed give feedback
It is an objectively poorly made game for a lot of people flat out not fun at all and worse than games made before it.
Well… for me it’s a game I wanted to play long term. However the systems in place aren’t facilitating that because systems just aren’t coming together well. However there are things I do like about the game. The graphics and lore being a couple. The gameplay makes it hard sometimes 😢
Sounds like a good start. I will still wait until 2 weeks after the season launches to decide if I will try it
So, are we not needing to pick up good rares that have these greater affixed and then imprint an aspect on and you get a 3rd affix?
I will never be excited by D4's itemization without having any negative consequences to uniques. Uniques in my mind are only powerful when they come with a drawback. That type of itemization is the best by far. Great risk, great reward. Otherwise everything is powerful and you are just going through needless hoops to obtain optimization

Do you have link to the Double swing Twister build you're using?
@rhykker
One thing I don’t see people addressing is are there any upgrade / blacksmith options for characters under 100? Or is the upgrading legendary affixes kind of the focus build up til 100?
I'm really happy about all the materials we get now from open world activities and helltides. It locks you in to certain activities much less. We just need some glyph progress outside of NMDs now. I don't know how they would do it; maybe a material that drops, and a receptable in town or the jewelrer that you upgrade the glyphs at.
Does the limited tempering chances apply to the item or the manual?
I'm glad to see they implement seasonal stuff into the base game and hopefully the cool ideas carry over in the future as well so the game can grow with features that are preferably interesting and fun to engage with.
I only want to play the pit, it's the only thing that interests me. How much would I miss out on, drop wise?? (I fight everything once)
Hey Rhykker,
A thought I have for what to do with White, Blue, Yellow items. What if the tempering system is utilized there?
So, your max affixes for an item are 5. Legendaries are 3 +2. What if Rare, magic, plain could be 2+3, 1+4, and 0+5 respectively?
You're sacrificing normal bonuses like crit chance, attack speed, and max life for a hyper-customized item for your build.
I just updated to version 1.3.5 and when I sign in im stuck at the having to ''queued for login 1 min left'' after that i get a error ( unable to find a valid license for diablo 4 (code 315306) I played yesterday but today i cant login anyone else having this issue???
With the Necro buff on minions do you think a minion build will be viable on endgame ?
Pits is what I was waiting for ❤ loved the gr because it was only time, mobs and you 🥰
Great Video!
Can we aspect legendaries? Right now aspect only works on yellows.
i love the changes - i haven't been this excited about diablo 4 since the vanilla release!
What happens with our old high rolled aspects we had in our chests?
Is there any chance we get the changes before the season ?
Cool stuff, now i only wish they would unlock the paragon after lvl 100; like have each level after 100 require x10 more exp and give only 1 paragon point but still give something
So, am I understanding correctly that "greater legendary aspects" can not be stored in the Codex? (I hope I got those terms correct. Game Pass newb, here.)
Doesn't that just return us to the bad-old-days, where the Greater Aspects are the only interesting Aspects, and people are having to fill up their stashes to "collect them all"?
What happens if you salvage a piece of gear that has a Greater Aspect?
Apologies if I'm misunderstanding.
all aspects will be stored now, you just cant get greater aspects from completing dungeons, random drop only, but then saved forever
Edited: Look at all those dust devils in the Helltide segment my god..
It saddens me seeing thorns no longer on the emerald as playing around with a thorns barbarian is fun sometimes, I built a Thorns Barb for Season Two and roaming in the Bloodtide with most things dying by tapping me was so nice..
