Bradford on Avon to Dundas Aqueduct
#kennetandavoncanal #narrowboats #ukwaterways
In Episode 57 Tales from The Swan’s Neck continues the journey along the Kennet and Avon Canal. Andrew travels from Bradford on Avon to the stunning neo-classical aqueduct at Dundas. The scenery is beautiful, the canal being cut into the hills of the Avon Valley. On the way Andrew gets a little wet.
Thanks to John Wyatt for the extra footage.

Stunning and beautiful cruise. Thank u 🙏
Thank you too
Good to see you're still onboard
Great video. Beautifully done. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it Peter.
Enjoyed this time!
Thanks Katherine, it's a beautiful stretch of canal, and plenty of interesting things to look at besides the scenery. There's plenty more to come from this area.
Great balance between video and audio!
Thanks Bill, appreciate that.
Andrew always look forward to your travels; made especially more enjoyable because you are an a/v pro!
Thanks Mike, much appreciated.
Absolutely wonderful. The light was perfect. I’ve walked that length in the past. It’s very picturesque.
It's a fantastic stretch of canal at any time of year.
Good morning… ☀️…I’ve never heard of a Tithe Barn… how beautiful the timber word was. Sorry, we all laughed at the water point… amazing pressure🤣. Have a good week💜
No need to apologise for laughing, I thought it was funny too.
Very enjoyable voyage and footage. I usually baulk at the accompanying sound track on canal boat videos but the one you edited in was very pleasant and I was quite sorry when it finished 👍 Regards- Rick
Thanks Rick, it is a special bit of canal to be sure.
Thank you that was a enjoyable watch. As usual.
Thanks Thomas, glad you enjoyed it
Hello Andrew a lovely video as always and hope to see you in Wiltshire again sometime my friend... Stay safe
Thanks Nathan
Bloody brilliant mate. One of your finest. Love the hosepipe clip 😅🤣😂
Cheers Del, yeah it was a bit feisty that waterpoint
Thanks for another lovely video Andrew. It was a nice way to start my day.
Always my pleasure.
Love your videos, so scenic and they always show the total relaxation mode along the canals. Cheers, Nigel
Many thanks Nigel
As always Andrew, very articulate and informative . Great stuff.
Thanks Derek
Feeling to be leaving the Grand Union and take a cruise on this canal
Fabulous canal, quite hard work though and the western end is extremely busy in the summer. Well worth it though.
Wonderful vlog, very relaxing, really enjoy the snippets of history and detail 😍 thank you 👏🏼
Hi Andrew; Truly enjoy your videos and all the effort you put into them. Looking forward to your travels and sense of humor along the way and thank you again! Maine, USA here
Many thanks Kirk
Such an interesting vlog as always. It looks beautiful! Perhaps we should head for the K & A. So many choices!
Thanks. It is beautiful, well worth the slog getting here.
The payment of tithes was finally abolished in 1977 ,l wonder ,who has paid the bill since then? Fabulous vlog Andrew 👍
Thanks andrew .out of all the narrow boat channels out there yours makes me want to pack up and buy a boat. I even looked at boats for sale but the exchange between can dollors and the pound is a killer. Cheers, maybe someday I will see you on the water.
Well it's a grand lifestyle, I'm extremely lucky. Take care.
Thanks for another great video Andrew, always look forward to seeing them, hope all is well with you.
Thanks Christine, all is pretty Hunky Dory here cheers
Having sailed that part on my mates boat I can agree with how gorgeous that stretch of the canal is, can't wait fir him to turn around and come back through there,
Your photography is the best that I have seen on any of the narrowboat vlogs. Are you using manual setting or auto settings?
Thanks Glen. As a rule I usually use manual settings, but filming and trying to steer a boat means that I have to use auto settings - usually with an exposure compensation of -1/3
Wasn’t really meaning to stay awake but I couldn’t resist watching. A lovely float. I guess getting wet while living on water is going to happen but that was a novel way. Finally starting to melt here. Still dropping below freezing at night. Breakup doesn’t really get into full swing until it stays above freezing at night.
Hi Skip, yeah at least I didn't fall in - which I've only managed once. Glad that spring is looking like it's about to break.
@@talesfromtheswansneck Ya. I've fallen into water many times in my life and I don't live on the water. When I was young my parents would go canoe camping with my sister and I in Onterio, Canada. Always camped on little Islands. Mom said we could swim so she was more woried about us wondering off into the woods if we camped on the mainland. We would walk around the island fishing and we'd fall in at least once a day.
Hi Andrew, over the last few weeks I've been through and now watched all your videos. I've really enjoyed them, thank you.
I've been considering becoming a continuous cruiser for some time but my anxiety issues have held me back, watching you though is helping to overcome them, so maybe in the future.....
Have you considered a video of your experiences to date on topics such as maintaining your narrowboat, off grid electric tips, internet connections, water/diesel fill ups, waste water disposal, heating, mooring personal security etc etc? I would find it really interesting as you do seem to spend a lot of time out in the countryside and discovered what works best for you. Just a thought ;-)
Take care.
Hi, firstly thanks for the ideas for future vlogs, there is some potential in your suggestions. Secondly I'd like to say that I have suffered with anxiety issues all my life so I understand your apprehension about the making the step. Whilst I can still get fairly anxious when facing situations I've never encountered, but I have to say that the benefits of the lifestyle far outweigh the moments of anxiety, and my mental health has improved massively since living on a boat. Feel free to contact me if you want any further advice.
@@talesfromtheswansneck Thank you Andrew for taking the time to reply and for your offer, it is much appreciated, I have much to learn 😉
Great eye for detail as always but I suspect there was a little bump you didn't show us. 😎
Thanks. Funnily enough a friend asked me if I'd hit the side and I can honestly say that I didn't - or perhaps it was the holiday boat swinging out as it was mooring, but I didn't hit that either.
Enjoyed that very much. You look like you’re having fun so I take it the decision to continue was the right one?
Honestly I don't regret a moment of it. I'm a lucky man to have this lifestyle,
Hello there, could you please tell me if this canal is navicalble by a 9 or 10 foot wide beam. I am planning to do the same thing as your self. Great vlog BTW thank you.
Hi Ian, yes you can take a widebeam all the way to Bristol.
@@talesfromtheswansneck thank you for your reply. Good health to you mate and God bless
