Personally, I am uncomfortable using my residential address as the registered address of the corporation, since it is public information. However I found that you can pay for a "Registered Address Service", which gives you a separate address to use for the registration. They will accept any mail on your behalf and forward it to you. This seems like a good idea if you are starting out and don't have/need an actual office space. In Ontario I found this is offered by a place called Business Development Centre. If anyone has used a service like this in Ontario, I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks

When starting small you would like to keep your operating cost low so I suggest speak to Banks(There are only handful in Canada) and see what they have for small businesses and pick what favors you now. Once business pick up you might considering checking other avenues. Personally I have a basic business account with RBC where I pay a nominal $5 fee per month. I will keep sharing my experience from time to time. All the best for your business. I have called corporations Canada to see if I need to incorporate provincially and he stated as long as you put the province of registration “Ontario” then no need because when you incorporate federally we let the province know that you are doing business in Ontario and therefore you are registered!

How to add Trade names (Doing Business As -DBAs) to the newly created corporation? After receiving Confirmation from Corporations Canada in the email, do we get the Business Number in another email or do we need to register it on our own in the Business number registration portal.
Your business number is typically in the first email you receive after registering a corporation. It is also supposed to be mailed to your address but in my experience with Canada Post you cannot rely on that. Best thing is to go to the Canada Corporation website and enter your corporation number. That will get you the business number - www.ic.gc.ca/app/scr/cc/CorporationsCanada/fdrlCrpSrch.html? Do not waste your time calling Revenue Canada. Their agents are largely useless and will send you in circles. They will not help you to get your business number despite the fact their website says they can.
@@PeterDrinnan it's been a couple days since I created my corporation but I my corporation number does not return any results using your link. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
@@anthonyngo4821 Did you do it online? If so you should have received an email with the subject line "You're incorporated...what's next?". That email should contain your business number, which is the same one used by Revenue Canada for your GST/HST account. It can take a couple of days for the databases to sync so try the link I provided above on monday.

You can certainly use a residential address as the one for your corporation, You still need to take other things in consideration, for instance if you are renting, some contracts won’t allow you to use that address for business, etc etc.

Do you have business number. If you have and you have your business incorporated. Call your bank and they will help with the process

I have federal incorporation and I stay in ON. I have not registered separately. Please check for Quebec as they might have exception.
