  • If you are new to smoking meat, your first cook should be a Pork Butt/Boston Butt/Pork Shoulder. They are so forgiving and they taste great. A pork butt will make you look like a pro out of the gate! I did this one with just kosher salt and coarse ground black pepper. I also use the MEATER Probe and added the progressive screen shots from the app at the end.

Try starting around 10pm and let it run overnight on the upper rack with a water pan underneath while you sleep at 190 with no wrap. When done in the morning, probe for tenderness and wrap in foil when ready and keep in your oven on the warm setting until ready to pull and eat. Comes out the same and you get more sleep.

How’s the knotty wood? Taste? Bark? Looking to change pellets with my smokefire.

I really like the knotty wood pellets. good clean burn. I have gotten the almond so the smoke flavor is mild but still good. can’t say I have noticed much difference in bark with KW but worth giving them a try imo. I get them from Amazon. I don’t have a local source for them that I have seen. Thanks for watching the channel and for the comment!

Why didn't you spritz the bottom side of the butt?
