In this video I show how to make the M3 Tactical Helmet worn by the mobile infantry. The Helmet is made out of eva foam so it is extremely light and takes paint really well. Something that I find interesting is how this movie has endured; the aesthetics, the quotable lines, the general straight forward simplicity of the story premise keeps inspiring today. Just about half a year ago, a Starship Trooper game out on Steam that dovetails with the movie and it keeps the look and feel of media that came out in '97.
Great build, now all you need is the rifle and you can finally blast that beetle you made from Foam Clay a couple of years back.
It's funny. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong. I did see this in the theater with my buddies. I remember everyone hating this film when it came out, and now it's a classic nostalgia bait.
@@richardkinkead7823 Yup, me too. I used to get into heated arguments with a couple of my friends as well, I remember walking out of the theater on opening week and being the only one who liked and defended it. It was brushed off as schlock at the time which is why I'm surprised at how it keeps getting referenced now.

Actually surprised the "Would you like to know more?" clip hasn't been worked in between part of the build ;). Looks great! Never even realised there was any kind of green shade in the paintwork from the movie costumes until I watched the chest plate build vid!
Thanks! yeah there was color grading in the movie but the original armor has a green tint on the chest and weapons while the helmet remained more grey

Have you made the grenades that go in the pouches? Or do you have a recommendation on where to get some? I’d like to have something in the pouches when I wear this along with a group of five others this fall.
I haven’t made any yet. Honestly looks like if you just wanted to fill the spaces you could mod some nerf mini footballs and add extra details to them 😂 otherwise there are pics on google of the originals but since they were made of foam latex most are falling apart

This looks great, but how do we scale it to our own head?

I printed it as a poster for one of my cosplay buddies, but my head is much smaller. Am I able to take it down a little when printing? I don't see anything about different sized skulls in the template, video or printing instructions.
@@goomagames if you were wanting to make the helmet smaller once you hit poster you can then change scale by printing at less than 100%. but the helmet is setup as a standard size 23.5” head

You just trace around the 2mm template and add an inch all the way around just like you see in the video. You need the excess to cut away you’d never be able to line that piece up otherwise

watch my how to cosplay using eva foam video for all of the tools needed and then try some of the basic props like the knight helmet or plague mask to get your feet wet
Now you just need to build your Morita Assault Rifle.
Does contact glue work to stick velcro to eva foam?
It can but I am more confident in the double adhesive haven’t had it fail
