Trust me, on rewatch & experience watching battles, it starts to become really apparent. It’s a main reason why Daylyt & Geechi are so popular despite debatable losses in terms of the culture.
Believability is a huge factor in how the fans receive your material. It also makes you different. All these variables come into play, especially when it comes to recorded media and definitely in modern battle rap on cam.
It makes those lines hit THAT much harder, cuz you know they REALLY behind that(maybe not for their opponent but they’ve been with that before).
A clear example was Daylyt vs Roc. In Day’s 3rd, he had a line leading up to a variant of his Rock Paper Scissors, “Do you know what’ll happen if I chase a nigga?”, the delivery, tone, the energy, I’ve had a gun pulled on me, it had that exact feel. Which is a clear difference from killing it performance wise and making you feel that real killer vibe
