4WD Transformation In 5 Minutes - 92 Daihatsu Feroza

- In just three months we built an engine and converted a bare bones roller into a registered and driving car. It is a 1992 Daihatsu Feroza, with a 1.6L petrol i4. It has a 2 inch lift and 31 ATs but I am looking at getting some rugged terrains or muddies. It has a full exhaust and an alloy radiator out of a racing Cortina.

Hey man it was a while back now, but anything new like rings and bearings and seals were all from online sellers, often eBay if the measurements checked out, and otherwise second hand spares from wreckers or marketplace, or custom made suspension parts and bracketry
I have a 92 Rocky. I love the vehicle but cannot make sense of it. New clutch last yr,, then the timing belt broke. 6 months Later I drive it 5 times. The 6 th time I take it farther, it starts losing power and starts overheating. Tow it home a look for the thermostat. It’s missing and nobody has one small enough to fit it put radiator flush in and let it sit for a day. Next day I start it, runs like it’s out of time so I loosen distributor bolts ant it won’t start. In addition, it acts like it’s overheating even tho it’s not started. I’m so frustrated I don’t know what to do.
Hey, nice job Toby. These are great little rigs but pretty gutless out of the factory so a bit of boost doesn't go astray. If I'd have known, I could have set you up with some forged rods for $650 a few months ago but they're all gone now. How much boost are you running? Piggy back ecu and did you need to up grade the injectors?
If I may make a suggestion, the black box on top there was an after thought from Daihatsu and was only put on to sort out a flat spot in the torque curve so really shouldn't be needed now, also the filter box and plumbing is really restrictive to the intake so maybe consider swapping it all out for something out of a v8 or such.
I'm currently doing a rebuild on my donk too (finally) and planning to up the boost from where it was previously. If you're interested, you're welcome to check the build vid on my channel. Did you end up selling your rig? My mate bought a 1jz that came out of a feroza about a year ago.

In total I woulda spent under 2600 , I found a few good deals tho. the motor definitely cost the most to rebuild and find parts for.

@@troymx4607 Nice, I. Mean it's a hell of an adventure and it just depends how bad the condition of it is and how much time money and effort ur willing to put in but u will learn a ton along the way and have alot of fun.
@@tobykays7163 dads a mechanic and has been since he was 15, motors sweet but needs an alternator, battery, maybe some other parts I haven’t looked too far into it. Needs new accessories too but that can come later.
