    I'm getting ready to do this same job on a 2014 CR-V. Your video is excellent! Thanks very much.

    I did the front and rear strut assemblies using your vid. I’m here now because I had to cut the sway bar connector bolts off due to corrosion. I accidentally cut into the axle with my cutoff disk. Debating just filling in the cut with my welder. Nice to know the procedure though. Thanks! I definitely like the better Moog sway bar connectors 😂

      😂 sorry to hear that. I don’t see why a weld or jb weld wouldn’t work for that, might throw the axle out of balance a little bit but that’s it.

      Yep, I think with a small bead and some cleanup, the vibration should be negligible. If not, I have a video to watch again...and again.@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE

      Ha ha I accidentally chopped into the trailing arm for the same reason and I’m debating whether it needs some sort of welding or something? They’ll probably say something on the MOT? maybe.

    Awesome video. What are part numbers for the seals? What’s the best way to find the part numbers?

    Is there a clip to hold the axle in

    This may sound like a dumb question. I have a 2013 RDX. J series engine. Got about 105K miles on her. My mechanic mentioned I got ATF leaking on the driver side and the seal needs to be replaced. He recommended I also replace the axle as well. What are your thoughts? Everything is fine. Joints arent leaking or anything. Would you replace it since you're doing the seal anyway?

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  Před 3 měsíci

      It all depends on what kind of shape the boots are in and where you live. If you live in one of the rust belt areas like the Midwest or northeast I would say replace it. The Crv I did in this video had high milage but the boots and axle looked perfectly fine so I didn’t replace it. Just look for any grease leaking out of the boots or if the rubber is starting to crack.

    Two other things can play into that oil seal failure number one and unfortunately it's a very expensive one is the bearings in the rear of the transmission have gone bad and it's starting to let some movement on that seal and the seal gets dry and old and it won't take any movement number two is the shocks are going bad and impacting it ever so slightly

    Nice video! My Honda dealer actually just did this job for me on my 2013 CRV... no charge, under CPO warranty. But sorry for the stupid question. What is actually leaking? ATF fluid? Thanks. ANSWER: YES! You mentioned it at the 24:50 mark. Sorry.

    Did you change the seal on the passenger side as well? Please let me know the socket and the size you used to put the seal in place. Thanks.

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I did not replace the passenger side because it wasn’t leaking. I used a 1” 7/8 socket to install the new seal.

    Awesome video! Would you do both seals if only one has failed?

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  Před 8 měsíci

      Thanks. I prefer to do only one at a time just because it’s less work. But since you have the diff drained it would be better to do both.

    Curious why you were replacing the strut and sway bar links? Was the strut leaking and the links ripping?

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  Před 3 měsíci

      Tires were starting to wear and cupping due to the struts being bad and it’s always good to replace the sway links at the same time especially on these cars because the links always rust and seize on the struts.
