Reina practices Taido, which is one of the many Style of Karate, and a mixture of Mishima moves.
While it did originate come from Karate, it's a different martial art and not a style of Karate, similarly to Taekwondo
I practice Kyokushin, our teacher jokes that Taido is a cousin of Karate because it started as a variation of karate, just like all the others.@@isaacmendes1926

With hei's ewgf, some moves would seem like they didnt connect on smalls in combo, but in actuality if you delay the ewgf it would work. She probably has those properties as well.
Many people mistakenly think hei cant do ewgf pick up routes on smalls because they never experimented with the timing

I basically studied Lidia. Learned all the moves, combo routes, counter hits, stance options etc. Love her. Steve and Lidia have been my Tekken 7 mains. But I'm so disappointed that she's not in Tekken 8. I doubt that she will be DLC again. So they probably flushed her.

This character looks so cool! I really love how well they seem to have integrated Taido with Heihachi's Mishima style into something uniquely "her" in Tekken 8. Also, the animation work here is just really fantastic. I watched a bunch of videos from the guy who they captured for the Taido and they've done an incredible job of animating it in the game. However, one thing that's become painfully obvious to me is that this character is NOT for newbies to the game despite how cool she looks as she seems hella complicated and not at all an "easy Mishima."

The fact that she gets bigger combos on large chars, brings more tekken legacy. In t7 you just have different wall combos depending on size of opponent, but in previous parts, you could take this advantage vs huge chars like Ogre, Jinpachi, Jack, etc.
In t7 there are several combos that only work on huge chars like Fakhunram or don't work on smaller ones like kunimitsu.

@@progste true, but we will go for usual combos that always works, or more simple that don`t drops with lags or small hitboxes. I would like have much more damage in Marduk matchup for example, but we got what we got.

@@Stavs97 not much. Not my style. Stance pressure gameplay is annoying for me. I am playing Heihachi this days, standing pressure feels good. Reina will not match it, and besides, stance pressure is now a thing. I am going to keep up with this or just drop this game.

I really like what I'm seeing with Reina. I'm not a Mishima player and I don't have the execution to do triple or even double electrics, but I'm going to try to learn her.
Ewgf will become easy over time, just practice while waiting for games and youll get it consistent
As a Heihachi and Lidia main in T7 this is literally my dream character lol.
I currently main Jin in Tekken 7 so I can later transition to Tekken 8. But I still have trouble wavedashing and doing electrics consistently which scares me because Reina is essentially another mishima who uses those moves. So I hope she doesn't rely a lot on waves and electrics, at least during the beginner ranks so I can get used to her gameplay and combos.

@@pappico Idk. Even without consistent electrics, I'm doing pretty good with Jin in tekken 7. I'll definitely pick up Reina in 8 and see how it goes
@@shulkinxl Jin is less dependent on Electrics than other Mishimas, not doing electrics with Kazuya or Heihachi isn't the same as not doing EWHF with Jin
@@djibrilr6s Ah I see. Well I guess the electrics will come with more practice. I can still do them but not consistently. Maybe I'll try put kazuya and get a feel for the normal mishima gameplay

Just for clarification, if I remember correctly, Kazuya could still get 4 electric into heat burst bound in Beta, only 5 ewgfs into heat burst was impossible

Im a bit stan of her voice actress so from that a lone I was excited for Reina haha. Something that just amused me was the series that made me a fan of that voice actress actually has a character called Reina in it (not the one she voiced)

1 month later how do you feel about Reina’s balance? I feel super demoralized anytime I fight her around 13th Dan… it feels impossible to touch them.

So I sampled Tekken 8 through the demo recently, for the first time. Haven't played Tekken since the day Faku released, I did hop on a few months ago just to see if muscle memory could still carry me and it was like I never left the game. Idk if it's step distancing or slower movement but I feel kinda stiff.

her demon paw seems op ? safe i12 mid, which gives +2 with stance transition. hit confirm to hit engager(possible combo while in heat? ) on NATURAL hit... pretty good
I expect it to be easily side stepped or maybe it loses to better pokes and counter hits. Something of that sort.

What you said she has weaker power normals compared to heihachi. Does it mean her CH launcher aren't very good? Also from this analysis she seems more Lidia with the basic Mishima/Heihachi trademark moves focusing more on the Lidia stances.
I’m from Japanese bloodline in a sense her style is a tribute to the oldest ancient Japanese martial arts which was still derived from the ancient Chinese Kung-fu yet the old masters managed to reinvent it based on Japanese brain structure . The result of it all is now there for the whole world to see.

@@timragen6658pad is better. Only reason you see sticks is because of legacy; those ppl have decades of play on that control. It's what feels natural to them. It's the same reason you don't see anyone with a keyboard, even tho mechanically it's objectively easier to hit inputs.
Hell if you look at competitive pad players a lot of them will play it like a keyboard: hold it on their thigh and use multiple fingers to hit the face buttons

She got this move called "Wind step" Instead of mist step if you press f and you can tap df to go into the wavedash motion called wind god step. I'm pretty sure she can do wgf during that and markman also said that she can but ewgf? I'm not sure.

Question for those who've played Tekken 8 on PC and Ps5, if there are any. How's the input delay, and overall gameplay feel? Tekken 7 as we know suffer from input delay. Imo it's not really playable. T8 on the other hand felt good on playstation, but i haven't played on PC.
Tekken 8 feels great on PS5 and PC. Felt very little difference, but I'd say PC felt better overall.

Lidia have high chances of coming back, thank God Paul is in this game with infinite better gameplay and better charisma, otherwise I would not buy this game until Lidia's DLC.
