  • Just a short B roll kinda thing, footage that sucked for much else, so just slapped it together to make this, been busy working and need to replace some damaged go pro camera gear, they don't like hitting trees! 😬
    Questions welcome, CZcams isn't the greatest platform to reply too as I only get some notifications.. 🙄
    Enjoy anyway. More bits and pieces coming soon.

    For 'slapped together footage' I loved it mate! The full moon at the Rock complete with sound of crickets in the background as well the the selective focus, I really enjoyed it!

      Defs slapped together. I'd love to make more in depth vids but seemingly not many seem to appreciate the hard work, but set a gopro up and they froth it.. Haha cheers Nick! 🍻

    The great videos continue, as always, well done! First time seeing N classes with a freight run. Glad they are being put to good use.

    I worked in KEN box about a decade ago. That grain train used to cause sooo many issues if it was late and came at the beginning of peak!

      Oh I bet!! We try to get it in early as often as possible, cos we get to go home when we do. Haha

    Adam, your videos are so awesome, really appreciate the effort you put into uploading them. Great footage of the N Class, though B Class will always be my fav. All the best 👍

    If only Vline could take over the overland and use N’s on that instead of the overkill nr’s

    Superb ..... Sadly the legacy of the great CANAC Plan has been somewhat eroded by Privatisation and Politics - fond memories of VR and Vline Grain workings almost everyday and almost anywhere to the North and North West

    G'day Adam,
    What a great video, the clarity & acoustic are absolutely amazing.
    How Aussie is that cruising through the bush, Skippy bouncing along in the bush & a EK Holden Panel Van rolls up at the crossing, classic Aussie Holden Panel Van & looked in great nik.
    Have you got your hands on the throttle of the Dog Bone N Class as yet & if so how do they compare?
    Great video thoroughly enjoyed it.
    Cheers
    Louis Kats 👍

    Victorian grain operations are still going good especially with the V/Line N class on hire to them.

    Another Great Video, its a Pity Crews cant Marshall the P & Ts to run Long End First. When i was at Dynon with Trevor & Noel we always tried to Run that way. Even if had to go on the Table for a quick Turn. if Double header i Tried to put Short End to Short End (Unless you didn't Trust your Fireman to keep a lookout)

      The last bit is part of the issue, but we do run alot of long end still.

    Greetings from an ex VR trainee engineman (1968-1974).At the start of the video I noticed separate driver's and firmen's red and white switched. In this video they were both white. Are these switched used when crossing a train at night where the light is red for the driver or firemen furthest away from the passing train?

    • @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER
      @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER  Před 5 měsíci +1

      On train order territory we often use white on the mainline side and red on the off side.
      Two whites for normal running, reds on the rear for trailing.
      White on the driver's side of a pilot, red on the fireman's side.. Etc. It's not taught much now but the old school guys still do it quite often.

    Is the N class now used for freight? I am surprised as it doesnt have the best tractive effort because its made for passenger services

      traction motor gearing not that high. edit: I am wrong!!

    • @hillbilly8621
      @hillbilly8621 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Starting 289 kN Continous 260 kN at 21 km/h. Bit down compared to a G/X/XR but on par with B/S. Still a useful loco and V/Line has a few spares sitting around doing SFA.

    • @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER
      @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER  Před 5 měsíci +3

      The Ns still have 130kmh pass gearing which leads to more overall output from the main alternator to maintain low speeds, around 800amps per axle at 21kmh, which I've seen once with the N, S class combo.
      Given that data, an N and an B class would overload the N class with the same train.
      That's essentially its maximum output and anything over that is an overload and has high risk of electrical and heat problems from Thereon.
      don't forget too the N class is a V12 645E3 - 2475HP where's as the Gs, BLs XRs are the V16 645e3 models with 3000-3300hp
