Tragically, I lost him in an auto accident when he was 27. What a special soul he is! This mama will be broken and empty for the rest of my life! Keep singing together ladies! As the world is blessed being able to hear Abi please either perform more or enter American Idol whatever it takes for us to hear more of your voice and to be moved by it.
I think the I most admire about Abi is her reliance on the basics of being a great vocalist and reinforced by her mom when she reminded her to sit up straight so she can maintain that control of her breath. As far as whether I'll be a big fan is going to be determined by her song choices going forward. If she picks her audition path, I'm thinking not so much, not that it's bad just not as engaging for me as say her turn on 'Bring Me to Life'. I keep paying her the compliment of mentioning her in the same breath as Floor Jansen, who doesn't always sings songs that engage (which is to say there are some songs that really make her vocals attractive to me, but others that are, "not so much" though it doesn't diminish what a wonderful artist she is) but she is by far, one of the few vocalists who are a master of her instrument as her live performances attest to. I think that for Abi to go from her audition to where she is now, the day before the finals, is a testament of how much mastery she commands over her instrument and makes it possible for her venture into genre's that are brand new and slay it. I also want to give her kudos for her stage presence which seems to have really grown. She is who I'd vote for but as we all know, the most talented and one who actually is a vocalist rather than a singer, does not always win the popularity vote. That I'm afraid says more about the voters than about Abi who is outstanding.
