Are you considering Portugal as your next destination for expatriation or nomadic living? In this video, I delve into whether Portugal remains a top choice for expats and nomads in 2024 amidst recent changes to the Non-Habitual Resident (NHR) scheme and Golden Visa program.
As Portugal has grown in popularity over recent years, there has been increased pressure to reduce the tax breaks offered to foreigners and take measures to deal with increased housing and living costs in big cities such as Lisbon. These changes have come with a revision of the eligible investment for a Portuguese Golden Visa and a reform of the Non-Habitual Resident (NHR) scheme that many new Portuguese residents have benefitted from.
Whether you're drawn to Portugal's rich culture, stunning landscapes, or favorable tax incentives, I break down the crucial updates that every expat and nomad should know.

Real estate speculation by foreigners is making impossible for locals to buy or rent a house

Hi Johnny, i went to visit Portugal last month and whether it is a nice place, i found it quite behind respect other Ue countries. Infrastructure and transport is backward at least 20 years respect Spain, per example.
Maybe for retiring is cool, but for a productive life i see more opportunities in other countries.
Let’s see what your next video says on that !!

Thanks for watching Valentino! I tend to agree with your comments and it's especially visible in Lisbon. The narrow streets are difficult to navigate when there are crowds, roads are chaos and whilst there is a metro the connecting stations always seem to be inconveniently located. Anyways, rant over and still a nice city 😅

Yes I live there and it’s quite underdeveloped compared to Spain and France. Thankfully I am moving out soon! 🎉
