Thirty-eight years ago I got my first electric guitar, a white Squier Strat. I was thirteen and had been playing an Ovation acoustic for two years, dreaming of going electric. So I was thrilled to get that Squier. I loved it. I eventually went through a lot of guitars, but strats or strat style guitars were my thing. A couple week ago I bought a new Squier Sonic Strat with an HSS configueration and I love it. I got it new for $160 and talked Guitar Center into throwing in a free setup. The thing plays, looks, and sound great with kind of a sunburst finish. But I will be changing the bridge pup to a Duncan Custom 5 I have sitting on my desk sometime this week. I'm a big fan of getting budget guitars and giving them a little tweak here and there. It makes a huge difference and you save a ton of money. I'm not going to pay a thousand bucks more to get "Fender" on the headstock. Nothing against Fenders, but Squier is really kicking ass. They are a great value.
