    Great interview especially the topic about the shallowness of the British pop industry. In many ways Lush was ahead of its time and certainly a far better band than a lot of the crap that existed during that era.

    Most of the 90s shoegaze bands like Lush, had sad endings. I am really happy they all reunited. I hope that fans and critical reception would be much more better than whatever they faced in that era.

    Lollapalooza '92. Charlotte, NC. I called Miki in her hotel room. The whole band was there, and they were DRUNK AF. Spent about an hour talking to them all. Miki was just making fun of me the whole time. It was pretty obvious she had had it up to her eyeballs with guys making passes at her, and she assumed I was just another schmuck trying to get into her pants. I was rather crushed by her attitude, but at the same I kind of understood it. The rest of the band was super cool, though.

      Funny story. I was at that show. Lush blew that place up; they were awesome as was the rest of the show. I remember a lot of people leaving right at the Red Hot Chilli peppers played because for at least me it was a letdown. I met the band after a show they did in Atlanta and Miki left the autograph session. Pretty much got the same attitude. I think that coy attitude kind of led to their inability to make a big name in pop music. Fantastic band however.

    Really great band! Miki is always modest; I think that both her and Emma had lovely voices. Their harmonies always blended beautifully with the swirling guitar sounds.

    And even beyond Lush, where on Earth are the bands with girls other than just singers these days ? For this sole reason, Lush definitely had to reform to show the world that we're just tired of the old cliches and there's another way to do things. The songs they wrote will never die and they're still ahead of virtually anything that is being released these last 15 years or so. For their new drummer, who used to be in Elastica, it's his first occasion, music wise, yo do something useful out of his life. It was about time.

      +julosx Kim Gordon once said that the only thing sexier than a girl with a gun is a girl with a guitar. It would be nice to see current women exploring that & taking it further because it seems unfinished.

    • @julosx
      @julosx Před 8 lety +4

      +SueTube I fully agree. We need more girls with guitars. They used to be quite a few (not that much actually) back in the 80s and the 90s and we need more of them now. At least more that are really as able and willing as Miki, Emma or Kristin Hersh are.

      +St.Fiacre Elastica's last record came out in 2001, though. I don't think that Justine Frischmann is still in music. In an interview last a little while ago Damon Albarn, whom she used to date in the 90s, said she now lives in California & married a professor. Donna is a pastor in Devon.
