- Are you a fan of the classic American sitcom Sanford and Son? Sanford and Son were based on the British sitcom Steptoe and Son and is remembered as one of the funniest American sitcoms of all time. The show’s success, no doubt, came from the excellent Sanford and Son cast.

Sadly, many of the Sanford and Son cast members have now left us - though their legacies live on. They all came from humble backgrounds and had many struggles before they reached stardom. There’s much we can learn from all the Sanford and Son cast members.
Fred G. Sanford was played by the legendary Redd Foxx. Born as John Elroy Sanford, he spent his early adult life working odd jobs - including being a dishwasher with Malcolm X! He began his career as a stand-up comedian and then became a star when he was cast in Sanford and Son.
LaWanda Page began her show business career as a teenager. She also became a stand-up comedian and was brought to the mainstream when she was cast as Aunt Esther in Sanford and Son. Her character and portrayal is easily one of the most memorable of any American sitcom.
Whitman Mayo barely had any acting experience when he was cast as Grady in Sanford and Son. He’s remembered as one of the most recognized actors in African-American cinema and television.
Likewise, the first time Don Bexley appeared on TV was at the age of 62 when he was cast as Bubba in Sanford and Son. His life’s journey to get to this now iconic character is sure to inspire anyone.
Two of the other supporting cast members who were added to the show were Rollo Lawson and Ah Chew - played by Nathaniel Taylor and Pat Morita respectively.

Fred Sanford and Aunt Esther's spats were the best in all of comedy!!! When the insults started, you knew it was going to be funny.
My favorite exchange between them was when Fred said, “Esther, you’re so ugly you should be out at the airport sniffing luggage!”☺️

How could you leave out Gregory Sierra, aka Julio Fuentes? His character was amazing.

But, I particularly like the one where Lamont finds a suitcase full of money, Fred wants to keep the money and the robber shows up for it.
Funny show. I like when Fred told Aunt Esther that she was so ugly you could press her face in cookie dough and make gorilla cookies lol.
He was so funny. Great actor. The whole cast were awesome!

Grady is one of my favorites..lol..... I always notice how he wears a belt AND suspenders.
Redd Foxx was simply one funny guy and the show Sanford and Son will go down as one of the best ever TV sitcoms. The cast members were great as were the show's writers.

That show is my all time favorite, as soon as I see a rerun playing on TV, I automatically sit down and watch it. Just habit. Like the time they were dealing cards "Two finger drag with the thumb on the bottom!" lol. I'm guessing Lamont is the last man standing these days.

So many great characters from that show but, probably the coolest was Lamont's friend Rallo. He was a great actor and perfect for that show.

@@FactsVerse I know Red Fox was a great standup comedian as well I saw a long time ago on Station he lives hilarious he even plans out a joke another word to tell you last whole story on child that’s not like you know what is green and blue pants five fingers or whatever it is you leave that out and creates a story I love it it’s really fun RIP Red Fox. I you could do a show about ten Beatles ? That would be great! About how the got started and became famous and the end and the solo careers.they all had, John util he past and George until he passed and how Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are you still making music today that would be great letting young people know that they’re still too beautiful alarm for making music

I saw the small clip of the Church's Chicken kick the bucket commercial with Lawanda Page and Fred D. Scott. That commercial used to have me rolling.
She also would call Fred Sanford "fish-eyed fool." 😂 "I want my daddy's records" 😂

Fred & Esther made this show n my opinion. I loved this show & both of them. It was a great show. I liked Grandy & Lamont also they were great also.

@@FactsVerse There are several but I can narrow it down to two episodes. The first episode was when Fred has Bubba pretend to be Blind Mellow Jella Jr to convince a record collector to buy records Fred had. Bubba would repeatedly say I want my daddy’s records. The second episode Fred played the numbers against Lamont’s against advice and wins. Everyone hearing about his win wants him to share his good fortune. In the end Fred shares his good fortune with a twist of irony only to robbed of his last ten dollars by a robber pretending to be a photographer for a local newspaper.
My grandfather sort of resembled The character Fred G Sanford and Also his east coast counterpart Archie Bunker. This show is great I have every episode on DVD. I grew up watching rebroadcasted episodes of this show on television. I was born more then 7 years after the final episode of Sanford and son was first broadcast in late march 1977.

Noriyuki “Pat” Morita was from Isleton (pronounced “I’ll-tun”), an Iseii community on one of the islands in the Sacramento River delta. His most notable role on TV was as Arnold, owner of the eponymous burger joint where Richie, Potsie, Ralph Malph, and Fonzie would hang out.
All the characters were terrific- never missed an episode. However, you didn't showcase "Julio", Gregory Sierra....

Last I heard he is now a pastor.
Demon Wilson (Lamont) went on to co-star in the all-black version of THE ODD COUPLE, but the show fared poorly. He then returned to the church as a preacher man.
What about Julio ?
The cops were the best eveytime they made an appearance. The way the white cop tried so hard and how his black partner would just sigh and tell them straight up.
