  • FIRST THOUGHTS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
    Impressions are funny like that, I could just be super wrong about stuff without thorough testing. At the same time it can be fun to gather those thoughts. I have some gameplay footage mixed in here as well as some general reactions. Editing is light. I'll be putting out more thorough content over the next few days. Gonna take time!

      I am satisfied that it hasn't ruined my experience of the weapons or really removed the skill cap for the weapons. I will say they were (for me) always usable. I also want to say I am just totally thrilled with the MK4 buffs overall. Its not exactly what I wanted but its like 90% what I wanted and the outcome is excellent. I think people are sleeping on the MK4 and hopefully I can put out an in depth guide on it that will get people to understand just how crazy it can be now. @@lukusridley

  • @TheBaralinChannel
    @TheBaralinChannel Před 8 měsíci +6

    The new Marks seem to primarily be about filling out the remaining weapons which had none.
    As an example, the force sword and stubbers went through the same thing. Was just 1 weapon at launch, now its 3 per category. Same is happening with the shovels.
    And I don't mind it cause they feel really damn nice to use. Regarding Brunt's, they addressed it pre-patch I'm pretty sure. Just a compromise so people don't get booted out of games due to forced server update.
    I'm not that fussed about there not being new-new weapons yet. If what we got feels sufficiently different, which in my opinion it does, then all is well. Thats not to say i dont want the doomslayer shotguns, the bolt pistol or the melta but I'm not that fussed, the new content is excellent.
    The map, especially, is really good and so is the addition of stims. I really don't think Fatshark deserves any hate on this one, the updates since class rework have all been quite excellent imo.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I think the map is great. I'm quite fussed about there being no new weapons but thats not the same as being unhappy with the items we did get. We got some cool and fun stuff. For sure.
      I think its a bad compromise and for that matter other games, warframe for example, handle this much better. At least they only took and hour instead of 4 or 5 this time to show up.

      @TheBaralinChannel Před 8 měsíci +1

      @Reginald-sc9tk OH yeah, it isn't to say I was happy to log on and not actually be able to get anything. Just that, atleast they explained themselves and it wasn't just the usual, unmentioned Fatshark moment, haha.
      I do really hope that the next major update, which will probably be after their holiday break, we'll see some new weapons though. Because while I'm plenty okay with marks, especially if they're sufficiently different like the new revolver, I'd still love to have MORE stuff for sure. • @Xhaleon
    @Xhaleon Před 8 měsíci +1

    The patch notes specifically state that light cleave was cut to 0.01, so mark 4s will never go through enemies again. All the better, it was very awkward, and the push attack already covers for the low-right arc that the heavies have trouble reaching. Mine has both slaughterer and headtaker, so I have less incentive to use revved attacks over spamming lights which are very safe and match the DPS of waiting for a revved heavy (veteran). It kind of makes the standard chainsword obsolete as the new chaxe 4 performance has only the same minor attack angle weaknesses but many more strengths.

    Btw regi, the lights on MK4 chaxe now stun maulers/ragers mid combo. Makes it insanely safe to challenge them even without revving up. The rev heavy does seem a little more vertical to me than pre-patch. Also, bloodletter applies max bleed stacks even if you dodge cancel the rev attack. It's quite value.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Rev heavy is definitely more vertical now that I've played it more. MK4 is actually so good now. The lights being able to stagger mid combo is nuts and I am so thrilled with how strong it is.

      I think I agree with you. The new chain axe is very averae person friendly. Especially with its simple attack pattern. When compared to chainswords it has advantages in elite and armor busting but is worse at horde clear. I think that's fine. Simple to use with crunchy effects. I think the MK4 is better. Flat out just better.
      I like the new heavy chainsword, some people have expressed they don't like the push thrust but I love a good stab! The new chainsword is a sleeper hit I think. On zealot it wrecks.

  • @flyinmehkite384
    @flyinmehkite384 Před 8 měsíci +3

    I can say that the new heavy chainsword can easily hit 1 hit rev kills on Crushers. It is kinda insane in that regard. Taking a bit of getting used to since it isn't just H1, L2 spam for everything like the OG one. I absolutely love the OG heavy and the crusher but I feel (preliminary) that the new heavy chainsword outclasses both and probably the Ironhelm as well. Now that could all just be "new toy syndrome". At least all of them are very good, hard to ask for more than that tbh.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I think its very good but I'm not sure its better than the original Tigrus. As I understand it there is push-heavy tech that lets you get the Heavy 2 and that can also 1tap crushers. That said I like the new chain weapons overall. Its interesting that they have longer tick chains etc.

    • @flyinmehkite384
      @flyinmehkite384 Před 8 měsíci +1

      With this one all you need to do is get a stack or two of one of the many zealot buffs and walk up and special heavy 1.
      Let alone if you run Martyrdom, then it should take 0 work what so ever (haven't done it myself yet, just running a crit build).
      Should note: with 25% carapace damage. I need to test to see if I can get away with maniac (or if that even hits useful break points) instead.
      But both are great and I am glad that chain and powered weapons are getting very viable.

    Pretty much only played vet last night, but I like the skill tree change we finally got. Feels in line with the other trees now, and was more or less able to recreate all my existing builds (just better than they were before).
    I may be in the minority but I like the shovels, like a lot. I find the "do extra damage as you wrench the spike back out of the heretic's head" mechanic to be quite satisfying.

      Love the thrust, hate the clunky issues on lights, but its a good and simple chain. Heavy attack has me a bit baffled. I'd rather have seen overhead into horizontal. I haven't tested it yet, its on my list 100%!

  • @lukusridley
    @lukusridley Před 8 měsíci +1

    Oh yeah test a full rev into a bulwark. It works now!
    The idea with introducing cancels is that if you can cancel, you then backload the reward for the rev attacks. Eg the stagger on ragers happens only on the second tick of the light, so early dodge cancelling loses you the stagger - and the more backloaded the reward, the more you're incentivised to commit. This way you still are rewarded for finding time and space to get full revs - and you do need to make sure you have the stamina for activation cancels - but you choose the amount of commitment, and you no longer feel incredibly restricted in acting under pressure.
    The core issue with the old activation design is essentially that the downside of "what's the worst that can happen if i give up my ability to act or dodge for the next 2 seconds" is potentially enormous; the more chaotic the situation, the larger, and the harder to assess correctly. This automatically leads to very conservative rev usage. A chainaxe especially should be a weapon where your response to people turning up is "IM GOING TO PUT THIS IN YOUR FACE BROTHER" - and so that needs to be something that can conceivably be done under pressure. Particularly for chain axes, having lights that could potentially eat a dodge input in an intense situation even when you know the weapon is just not a risk other weapons have to take - and it's not like the chainaxe had a huge upside in other ways.
    I didn't have as much to do with these other than pressing hard for activations and stickies to be cancellable but have delayed benefits (though I did strongly push for speeding up those heavies because good lord they were arthritic before). But my hope is that this is a better space for activated and sticky attacks to be in in general - this works for force sword activations too, for example - and will make attacks of those kinds much more useful and feel like much more functional parts of the toolkit.
    Ultimately, before this patch almost no chain weapon was good because of its weapon special. In an ideal world I would move to a different model for activation weapons with rev being an input used midcombo and during attacks, but we do not live in a perfect world and this was the best fast solution.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 8 měsíci

      I tested the bulwark but am not clear what you mean. I have always been able to onetap them with revved heavy attacks. With martyrdom I can kill them with lights into backshot headshot, maybe I could not before?
      I appreciate you reaching back out.
      Its very interesting to me that you describe the weapons as not being good due to the special or perhaps i misread that and its only being good despite the special attack. Historically the chain weapons have felt like they were entirely designed around using the special attack and were otherwise were extremely mediocure if not outright bad weapons. Me and others like me learned to work around the activation and its limitations and found it a rewarding gameplay loop. Rather than being excited about the change most of us have felt like it casualized a skill based mechanic that could be learned. Ultimately I rule that it was implemented well and didn't trivialize using revs. ironically i very rarely use the dodge out mechanic on purpose and would say 90% of my usage of it is accidental as I'm trying to hit that minimum reaction window and miss a bit early and cost myself extra damage. Still, its just a new skill cap rather than a degredation of the skill cap. So I rate the change positively overall.
      To me the big winner is just chain axe light attack damage. The change to the attack pattern doesn't really have a positive or negative IMO. But it wasn't necessary (for me) and was probably a positive for most since it clearly was designed to minimize accidental latches on unintended targets.

    • @lukusridley
      @lukusridley Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@Reginald-sc9tk Rev into a bulwark who is blocking - this even allows you to rev into his shield and instantly cancel it and he will be insta opened. Proper defined behaviour, no more revs randomly getting eaten by the shield hitbox itself and getting "blocked" and other nonsense (you also can't latch barrels any more thank god), so the view cone yank into narnia from that particular interaction is banished.
      My hope is that in the medium and longer term, rewards for full activation revs can be introduced via blessings and others - or backloaded ramping bonuses during rev attacks - to really just make it a neat risk reward time tradeoff... but we will see

    I tried running chaxe before and frankly speaking, its "rewards" NEVER outweighed the risks. Slow, with difficult and inefficient horde management, pitiful cleave, lackluster damage and stagger. I can dance around each Rager/Bulwark/Crusher or I can grab something else and kill 3 of them in the same amount of time. And while I certainly COULD play with chaxe anyway, I play with randoms - shooting myself in the foot by basically using a needle-filled-sausage as my melee never felt like a good idea. Because its as good as preparing to fail the run before it even begins. I wonder if devs thought that to buff its "rewards" they'd have to add so many numbers, that its wiser to just reduce the risks.

    Hilarious that you were complaining so much in the beginning when all you had to do was wait 30 minutes for the server migration and youd be fine LMAO

      It was funny! But it took over an hour for the server migration and it was highly reminiscent of earlier patches where it would take 4+ hours to get the new content. As someone who has played this game since before public beta...i have been through the ringer with shoddy releases. It was quite funny to me.

      @@Reginald-sc9tk I've just tested the new Orestes variant. It's powerful I guess, but the lights are boring and don't feel "good". The new heavy chainshovel variant is really boring, it's pretty much the executioner sword from Vermintide 2. The change on the chainaxe stickiness are nice though, and the heavies are nicer now.

      I think I agree with you entirely. The MK12 just feels boring to use and lacks proper SFX on lights in any case. its not totally without complexity due to managing the overhead focused behavior of the weapon. But its just not very interesting. Upshot - the MK4 is incredible right now. @@Orvect
