At Pentecost people heard Jesus' disciples speak in their various tongues. If the Pentecostal "church" could show that actually happens among its members it would lead to credibility. Can you do that?

They are wrong on the gospel message.
It's a false gospel message of faith plus works equals salvation.
Jesus is Lord God Almighty clothed in unsinful humanity and He is the author of eternal life to all who trust Him alone for salvation.
Saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.

I was a Catholic for 32yrs. Until my stepdad passed away. One of the ladies I knew said that I should pray to my stepdad for the grace to be comforted for my grief of loss. This shocked me greatly I was brought up Baptist this collided with my brain. I raised my children Catholic because my husband wanted it at this point I began questioning the faith. I am neither Baptist or Catholic I consider myself a Christian.

  • @walterandannmariemeinshaus3782

Thankyou for this wonderful presentation! I spent Hal my life as a devoted Roman Catholic and half as a devoted Christian, I am still praying for my precious family members on the east coast. I attended 18 years of Catholic education in NJ and NY and followed my protestant Husband ,a graduate of West Point, and ended up in KY. I signed that I would raise our children as Roman Catholics and I did! I taught the Catechism of the Good Shepherd in my small Montessori School for children 3-6. I loved the Lord and also the three different orders of nuns who educated me, but here there was one elderly nun trying to handle teaching all the public schools. I offered my services and met many protestant parents who sent their children into my care. I had a few assistants who loved the Bible. They invited me to a Bible Study and I went. The leader asked us to open to Romans to begin a 30 week study. I asked where it was, Old or New Testament! My friend had asked if I had a Bible and I had said "Yes, it was an engagement present and it sits on the coffee table, I dust it off reverently." I loved the Study and found myself asking God if "it" really said this or that. I went on to many other books and studies at the chapel at Ft. Knox, after realizing how very much I did not know. As a devoted Catholic in a prayer community, then a Charismatic Renewal , Life in the Spirit seminar, I tried for a long time to get a Catholic Bible Study but was told that "all I needed was the Euchrarist and the Rosary." Finally, a priest agreed and a large group of excited mothers attended the first meeting where we heard that the Old Testament was a book of "myths" and we were each given a slim study of the book of Revelation which would take about 6 weeks. This was amazing for me as I had read it and loved it on my own. The priest explained that all it covered already happened in the first centuries. I had to tell him that as a mother of three children , 2 ready for Confirmation and 1 ready for Holy Communion, I could not teach them about myths and many other ideas. I studied one book at a time Precept upon Precept for 6 years and began teaching them at home after 5 miscarriages we were expecting a long prayed for child. It was an intense time of my life, questioning the sacrifice of the Mass. I read every book by ex-priests, nuns, catholics trying to understand what had gone wrong in the teaching of the church.
God has abundantly answered my prayer and given me two more children after that . Six children were not the 10 I always wanted but they are a blessing and we are expecting our 28th and 29th grand children and raising our 3 yr old great grandson.
A few weeks ago I was searching for a lecture on Last Days, and came across an article on the crises of the Catholic Church, the Homosexual scandal in the Vatican and Church. I read everything I could of several traditional Catholics who are praying for the church. I prayed for them to find the way, truth and life! Thankyou again for this talk. God bless you all! In Christ, Ann Marie , now 70 and thanking God daily for His Word!

In reality what will the family and friends remember most? I would say the death. If you look very carefully We are to worship God .How? God commenced with the Jews. Abraham and Isaac are prefiguration of God the Father and Jesus . Abraham means Priest Isaac Lamb. Abraham sets up an Altar to Sacrifice Isaac. The Jews abandon that type of sacrifice and use an animal. Jews were worshipping the Messiah in advance Work in Progress but they used an animal. Before the animal was slaughtered certain prayers were said only by the Priest. Once a year the Jews had Passover Prayers. Those particular Prayers are His Death Prayers. They are Perpetual and can't be changed. They were passed over to us Gentiles by the Apostles.
The Temple in Jerusalem fell in 70A.D because it was the end of time for the Symbolic Paschal Lamb Sacrifice . Now the Gentiles have the Prayers, the last Supper and the Crucifixion . This is Biblical Shortly after the Jews gain Israel the Perpetual Sacrifice will be removed and the Abomination of Desolation replaced therin then comes the end of time for the Gentiles for Salvation comes from the Jews (Salvation here means War) They use the word sacrifice Jews got Israel in 1948 Sacrifice removed from Rome in 1965. It is a pentecostal church called The Church of God Ministry of Jesuschrist International (it is all over the world) where people from different churches go because the manifestation of the power of God is so strong and the presence of the Holy Spirit of the Lord with miracles, healings and wonders. I went to the bible studies, to the praisings to praise the name of the Lord, I meditated His Word (as He ask us to do in order to get to know Him) and His promises, I learned to have an intimate relationship with God the Father (without using any other intermediary than His beloved son Jesus) and as a result I got healed from 2 incurable diseases Lyme and Fybromyalgia, my marriage was strengthened and my family converted. You have been told the Roman Catholic Church has never changed but it has changed in many ways over time. Just look at the papacy. The New Testament knows nothing of the supremacy of the Bishop of Rome over the universal church. Peter said in this epistle that he was a fellow elder, the Apostle Paul corrected Peter to his face in the book of Galatians, it was James not Peter who was the bishop of Jerusalem and leading the council in Acts 15. According to the epistle of Clement, there was a plurality of bishops in Rome up until 140 AD; a full eighty years after the death of Peter. Later we see Iraneaus bishops of Lyon rebuking the bishop of Rome when he tried to excommunicate bishops in the east for holding Easter on a different day than was held in the west. We seen Cyprian, bishop of Alexandria, effectively telling the bishop of Rome to pound sand when he tried to meddle in Cyprian’s affairs. The papacy is an accretion that developed much later in the church. It’s not an Apostolic teaching.

Protestants don’t reject good works. We believe that good works is the evidence of the Holy Spirit dwelling in our lives, the fruit of what Christ has done at salvation. We DON’T believe that good works is what we need to do to get into heaven. “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ & you will be saved” Acts 16:31. NOT believe, plus anything else. Protestants DO reject purgatory bc it’s not Scriptural. Catholics have misinterpreted 1Cor 3:13-15. Those verses speak of fire as purification of the precious metals & the works that a man might do. The precious stones can withstand the fire but the wood & stubble will burn. The false doctrine of purgatory renders Jesus death on the cross as insufficient. May That Never Be! Protestants reject infant baptism bc it isn’t Scriptural either. Matt 19:14 speaks about being childlike in our faith & has absolutely NOTHING to do with baptism, infant or otherwise. Protestants believe in a Believers Baptism, imitating Christ who was baptized as an adult, as it’s stated in all the gospels. Protestants reject the pope bc this isn’t Scriptural. In Matt 26:18-19, Jesus is speaking about Peter taking the Good News of the gospel to Jerusalem, the Judeans, Samaritans, & then the Gentiles in Acts 1:8. There is no pope spoken about in the Bible. And Protestants ESPECIALLY reject the mass as a sacrifice bc that isn’t Scriptural either. As I already mentioned, “Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many”. Heb 9:28. AND LASTLY, Protestant ministers only preach the Truth of God’s Word & don’t teach false doctrines.

@@melindabloom7281 Melinda, you are attempting to interpret the scripture yourself, using private interpretation, in violation of 2 Peter 1:20 and Proverbs 3:5. When you attempt to substitute your own opinion for the infallible teachings of Our Holy Mother the Church all you can ever come up with is just that----personal opinion, which changes, and changes, and changes. The core doctrines of the Catholic Church remain the same, century after century.
And on at least one point you memtioned, infant Baptism, Protestants disagree among themselves. Lutherans, Anglicans, Methodists, and Presbyterians baptize babies, and these four denominations make up more than half the world's Protestants.

George Penton ...first of all, 2Pet 1:20 is speaking about PROPHECY & not about reading & studying Scripture on the whole. The Holy Spirit, who is the Author of all Scripture dwells within every born again believer, so it is therefore the Holy Spirit ONLY who can interpret PROPHECY. And when speaking about Pro 3:5, as a teacher of the Bible, you NEVER take Scripture out of context...rule #1 of anyone who studies Scripture. Proverbs 3:6 “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Because He is the Author of Scripture, He directs the reader in all ways. And lastly, when I read the New Testament, I do see many squabbling denominations. Have you not read the books of Galatians, Corinthians, or Thessalonians? Geesh! But the overriding Good News wins out as the first church THE WAY gets established. I don’t read anything “Catholic” anywhere in Scripture.

I just got done listening to Keith Nesser, former Evangelical minister who left that for the CC. It is disheartening to see so many Christians who forsake the simple faith of our walk in Christ, for Churchianity. Love hearing about former priests and sisters who realize that where they were as Catholics was a failed system that leads us into a system of religious rules and sacraments. I was a former Catholic and wondered whether or not I in fact left the true church, but that is not a problem for me any longer, because the truth of the Bible, and the witness of the Holy Spirit and what the ex- priest on the telephone Bart Brewer said what is NOT in Scripture. Why are so many Evangelicals being duped into believing that the CC has the authority of Christ? Thank God these precious people came out of Rome, and found the power of the gospel to be sufficient enough to hold them and succor them in true faith and hope in Christ alone, The Father and the Holy Spirit ONE God.

Since it was the Catholic Church that compiled and authorised the biblical canon it's good that the Evangelical Christian is a bible believer, maybe he should take the next step and consider becoming a Catholic Christian (from the Greek word Katholicos meaning Universal.) After all, with over 40000+ Protestant denominations in the US alone does that not indicate that there might be a slight problem there? Where's the authority? Which one is right? All of them??! Surely not or they wouldn't have split and schismed again and again and again and... "That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you." John 17:21 Amen.

for the body as many parts, how can the eyes say to the ears I have no need of you, but nearly all protestants hold to the word of God, granted there are always error, as children growing in the knowledge of our Lord
but that being said,  its not about those things its the teaching of the catholic church, its just not biblical and teaches another gospel, tho the gospel speaks of the errors of catholic church in many ways,
so after all said the last words I have to give you is,
      Revelation 18:
1And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.  2And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.  3For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.4And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.  5For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.  6Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.  7How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.  8Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

If the Bible is from the Catholics why they do not obey it? Who were the first Christian’s ? They were Jewish. The letters of Paul and the other disciples, they were writing here and there, to the churches and to the brothers in other places. Just like God used many ungodly kings, the same he used the Roman Empire, since they were persecuting the followers of Jesus, and murdering everyone who confess Jesus. So the Bible is from the Jewish People who believe in Jesus as their messiah, and also for those gentiles who converted to Jesus. remember that no one was allow to have a bible, the Roman’s were burning the letters and anything related to Jesus. So tell me how were they able to have the bible?? So our Lord God used the situation to compile the books of the bible trough The council of Nicea in AD 325 but the Word of God was written already, way before the Catholics called themself universal meaning Catholics. Tell me why the reformers? Die the way they did? They die for the truth. Because they were translating from the original Hebrew and Greek. So please The disciples were not worshiping images or statues, like the Roman Catholic Church today. Or going by mans doctrines. God promised to preserve his Word and he did. Psalm 12 KJV. TM Z do you see the hipocracy in your statement, we catholics know that and we have recieved christ, we know Mary reveals her son to us thats why when she appears all over the world we listen to what she says, she knows the catholic church is her sons church and she has been telling the world to come back to her son Jesus christ, and has stated the more we pray the rosary we can stop wars, we can , get elections turned. so people are rejecting this from God ,saying its the devil!, well why would the devil want to turn people back to god. this is the great falling away that is in the bible people are leaving the church, and Jesus is coming back soon. I dont see why protestants have to put every thing in a bubble, when Jesus was on the cross, He said to John here is your mother , well he had a mother, and Jesus said to her women this is your son that was his way of saying I give my mother to the world. so catholics test all things, and why does it say in revelations she will crush the head of the serpent well, because through prayer of the rosary, and the church Satan will be defeated.

I may not be a priest or a nun, but i understand clearly the part when he said something about he couldn't live among idols and statues anymore.. For me i was to the point where i was in the Catholic church everyone was praying to Mary reciting hail Mary, and i was there looking at the cross, asking myself... Lord what is this uneasiness inside of me? Is this the right thing to do? Praying to Mary and the Saints and to you Lord? And when the priest give speeches it was so "logical" in a sense that i don't have to come to church to know this about Jesus wants you to love blabla, ofc God wants us to love one another but, apart from that the church failed to warn us about the book of Revelation. Why? because that book is controversial to people, many people are scared of apocalypse, hence, they avoid that subject. Which is absurd because that is the most important part, Jesus' 2nd coming, that is why we go to church!!!
But apparently, Catholics are hardly informed about this. Yes they do know Jesus Christ is coming soon, but that's about their knowledge on that topic. Also I never knew about scriptures in detail because in the church the prayer are projected on the screen or bibles are provided. Bear in mind, Catholic bible are changed (if you don't believe i can give you proof) And almost monthly the church come up with different prayers!
Ridiculous, I was blind but now i see. Thank you Jesus, my only way to salvation! I do adore Mary and the saints, they lived a holy life but i believe they are in heaven rejoicing and NOT hearing any of these people treating them like idols. Lord save your people!

      FutureXXD,
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BE IN JESUS CHRIST’S ONE CHURCH HE ESTABLISHED???
History and the Bible both point to only ONE CHURCH being established by Jesus Christ: the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. First, the Bible does not attest to itself as the sole rule of Faith and resolver of
disputes. Instead, we see “the Church” (singular) is the “authority” to resolve faith and moral disputes (Matthew 18:17) and is the “pillar and bulwark of TRUTH” (1 Timothy 3:15). The “pillar and bulwark of TRUTH” states in Catechism #846 there is NO SALVATION outside “the Church”, especially to those who know and refuse to enter Jesus Christ’s ONE CHURCH.
Second, Jesus Christ has ONE HEAD and ONE BODY - “the Church” (Ephesians 1:22-23 and Ephesians 4:4-6). Jesus does not have ONE HEAD and 35,000 different Bodies and growing divisions. Jesus Christ has only ONE BODY and married Himself to ONE BRIDE. Jesus Christ established and prayed for His
ONE CHURCH/BRIDE in John 17:21-23 before giving all of Himself in sacrifice to His ONE BRIDE as “the Bridegroom” (Isaiah 61:10, John 3:29, Matthew 9:15, Matthew 25:6-13, Mark 2:19, Luke 5:34-35). Jesus Christ CANNOT BE MARRIED TO 35,000 DIFFERENT AND GROWING NUMBER OF BRIDES.
Third, Jesus commanded you enter HIS ONE BODY or “Kingdom of GOD” better known as “the Church” through “water (Baptism) and Spirit (Laying of Hands)” in John 3:5. Jesus was fulfilling Ezekiel 36:25-27 prophecy with this requirement. We see this same pattern of “Water (BAPTISM) and Spirit (Laying of Hands)” when new converts were entering the Early Church in Acts 2:38, Acts 8:14-17. In Acts 9:17-18 St. Paul received Baptism and “Laying of Hands”, and then gave the Holy Spirit in this same way in Acts 19:6 to new converts after their Baptism. If you did not enter the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH in this way, then you are currently OUTSIDE HIS ONE BODY. Matthew 7:21-23 will help illustrate this point better - how a “believer” can still be OUTSIDE HIS ONE BODY. Here we have people who obvious “believe” (Faith Alone) in Jesus Christ enough to do “mighty works” in His name. What is Jesus’s response to them in verse 23??? How can Jesus say He never knew them and call them “evil doers”??? It all hinges on verse 21 “NOT EVERYONE WHO
SAYS TO ME, ‘LORD, LORD SHALL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN”. Jesus Christ never became known to them through the Holy Eucharist and “Marriage Supper of the Lamb” NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19-20). YOU HAVE NOT TRULY MET JESUS YET, UNTIL YOU RECEIVE HIM IN THE HOLY EUCHARIST IN HIS ONE “KINGDOM OF GOD”.
Fourth, the “Lamb of GOD” (John 1:29, 1 Corinthians 5:7, 1 Peter 1:19) tells you in every synoptic Gospel what to EAT and DRINK during the Exodus 12:14 “forever” commanded Passover He transformed into the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19-20). Further, how the “Lamb of GOD” is needed to be consumed for ETERNAL LIFE (John 6:54). Exodus 12:3-8 with emphasis on verse 8 in the original Passover, could a Hebrew or later Jew refuse or only “symbolically” eat the lamb and have “death Passover”??? What does the “Lamb of GOD” say if you do not partake of Him in His ONE CHURCH in John 6:53 “TRULY, TRULY I SAY TO YOU, UNLESS YOU EAT THE FLESH OF THE SON OF MAN AND DRINK HIS BLOOD, YOU DO NOT HAVE LIFE IN YOU”. Still saved if rejecting the “Lamb of GOD” the way He wants to be accepted into your body in the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19-20) in HIS ONE CHURCH???
Fifth, in Leviticus 5:5-6 and throughout the Books of Leviticus and Numbers anytime “personal sin” is mentioned in the old covenant you see a Jew COULD NOT GO DIRECTLY TO GOD FOR FORGIVENESS. Instead it reads “thus the PRIEST SHALL MAKE ATONEMENT FOR A MAN’S SINS, AND IT WILL BE FORGIVEN”. GOD uses certain ordained “men” to administer His forgiveness. What same “power” does Jesus Christ give to certain ordained “men” in the NEW EVERLASTING COVENANT in John 20:21-23? Jesus was fulfilling His Father’s covenant promise to have a “perpetual Priesthood” in Numbers 25:12-13 and Malachi 2:4-7, along with “forever” promises to have a Leviticus Priesthood in Exodus 29:7-9, Exodus 40:15, 1 Chronicles 23:13 and fulfills New Covenant prophecy Jeremiah 33:14-22 and the promise to take “Gentiles” as Priests in Isaiah 66:21. What if a person rejects this priesthood and GOD’s way of having “sins” forgiven??? If sins are logically retained, because of rejecting GOD’s means of forgiveness through His priesthood, then are you still saved???
I pray you consider these points. This is about TRUTH and SALVATION. Remember, Jesus Christ is the way, THE
TRUTH, AND THE LIFE - John 14:6. If you do not seek FULL TRUTH, then do you really have JESUS and LIFE???

I'm a convert to the Catholic Church and I count my blessings every day that i am., thank you Jesus! :o) Anyways, It sure annoys me that we Catholics are always being accused of idolatory, worshipping statues and all that nonsense (pssst - we don't AND to prove it...!)
2nd Commandment:"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images...thou shalt not bow down to them or serve them..." (Exodus 20:1-17) Question: What was on top of the most holy Ark of the Covenant, the dwelling place of God, so holy it couldn't even be be touched, (1 Chronicles 13:9-10) which contained the 2 stone tablets with the 10 Commandments written on them, Aaron's rod, and some manna? Answer: 2 cherubim with their wings reaching above the mercy seat, carved (graven) from wood and covered in gold. (Exodus 25:18-20)
Question: And what was in the innermost sanctuary of the Temple, the most Holy of Holies which only the HIgh Priest could enter once a year on the most holy Day of Atonement? (Leviticus 16:29-34) Answer: 2 carved(graven) cherubim covered in gold with their wings reaching across and touching as on the Ark. (2 Chronicles 3:10-13) Funny that eh, curiouser and curiouser?!!
So carved (graven) statues are NOT forbidden, but WORSHIPPING them most certainly is!! And no, Catholics DO NOT WORSHIP STATUES, it's only that Protestants MISTAKENLY OR PURPOSEFULLY WANT TO BELIEVE THAT WE DO!! So, sorry to disappoint you but NOPE, we DON'T AND NEVER HAVE!! Sorry folks! :o)
Catholics WORSHIP GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON, GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT - THE HOLY TRINITY - AND NO-ONE AND NOTHING ELSE!! And NO, WE DO NOT WORSHIP MARY, we HONOUR and REVERE her and call her BLESSED just as she said we would (Luke 1: 48), but that's NOT WORSHIPPING her. So, sorry to disappoint some of you that wish to believe otherwise, I'll pray for you that you too are blessed to come into the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church, Jesus's mystical body. Amen. (Ephesians 1:20-23) :o)

from your comment i can see why you joined the Roman Church, you don't have a clue what the Holy Scriptures are talking about....
      1) you claim the 2nd Commandment states "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images... thou shalt not bow down to them or serve them."
did you know that the Vatis Can (Divining Serpent) has REMOVED this 2nd Commandment from their Bibles? in order to have 10 Commandments, they split the 10th one into two parts.
so lets look at other "witnesses"/verses to understand what GOD means by this Commandment.
Deut 4:16-19, GOD says for His people not to make statues FOR THEMSELVES of anything, male or female; because if they do, they will be DRAWN into venerating and bowing in honor of what the statue REPRESENTS.
about 1000 years ago, Rome decided to start making statues of a physically dead female FOR THEMSELVES; then they started placing these statues inside the buildings meant for worshipping only the One True GOD; then they started $elling little statues of this female to the people so that they could have them in their homes, schools, grottos, etc -- and sure enough, the Roman Catholic people have been DRAWN into venerating and bowing down to these statues in honor/adoration of what the statue REPRESENTS: a physically dead woman.
idolatry is NOT worshipping a statue; idolatry is venerating/adoring/being devoted to/bowing down to/serving what the statue REPRESENTS -- in the OT, a demonic god or goddess.
      - do these statues REPRESENT Mary:? yes.
      - do you bow to the statues of Mary in honor/reverence/adoration to what the statue represents? yes.
      - do you serve Mary by saying her rosaries? yes
do you not understand the difference between GOD instructing His people to make a graven image for GOD's purpose (pointing to Jesus); and Rome/man making graven images FOR THEMSELVES? did GOD instruct Rome to start making statues of Mary? no.
      Romans 1:25
"Who changed the Truth of GOD into a lie, and worshiped (#4573) and served the creature rather than the Creator who is blessed forever, Amen."
#4573 = sebazomai = venerate, adore, revere, worship, be devoted to

And the bowing and praying at the dead bodies at St Peters didn't sit right with me. It was straight up idolatry. And they would all look at them & make the cross (I don't have a problem with the cross sign). Worship takes many forms rather you think you are worshiping something or not. Why is it okay to bow down to a statue in the Catholic Church but wrong for the Jews to have statues? The Jews never had statues of Abraham or Jacob or Moses. They understood from the beginning it violated the commandments.

You says you not worships Mary but you pray to her and ask for healing and blessing ..Most of your believers was share the beliefs of your church ...

Rock refer to Peter as the leader of the church and reveal the identity of christ......All believers are joined into the church by faith in Jesus Christ as Savior the same faith Peter express here 1peter 2:4-6

Should we ask Mary for our needs???..I heard people praying thru Mary the holy Mother..Act4:11-12.Salvation is found in no one eles....John14:13-14 And I will do whatever you ask in Jesus name,so the son may bring glory to the Father..You will ask me for anything in my name, and Jesus will do it.....Good luck and pray Jesus only to understand yourself ..god bless

If any catholics are watching this today and sees this message. Please read John 6:35 over and over. What is Christ actually asking when he says eat my flesh and drink my blood? He is saying come to me and you will never hunger. Believe in me and you will never thirst. If you never hunger just for coming to Christ, you have eaten. If you never thirst just for believing in Christ, you have drank. If faith in Christ is not enough, then Satan has won you over.

Nobody ever goes to Purgatory first then Hell. The only ones who go to Purgatory are the saved souls who were good but not perfect.
By the way the Lazarus/rich man story proves two Catholic doctrines that Protestants reject: (1) that good works are necessary for salvation (the rich man had faith because he called on his spiritual father Abraham, but he never helped the poor so he lacked good works), and (2) that we can call on the saints and ask them to pray for us, because the rich man called on Abraham to intercede for him.

Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good[a] is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe-and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”-and he was called a friend of God. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25

God is the judge of the heart, He is the only One able to judge a person’s whole heart, in Love and Truth. I believe I know born again Spirit filled Catholics as well as people in other denominations who are born again Spirit filled from their fruit. Jesus said we would recognise them by their fruit. I also believe every denomination has its own Pharisees too. I am an evangelist at heart and I speak about Jesus and salvation by grace to anyone who is ready to listen, but it is up to the Holy Spirit to convince them and convict them... There is only one sin, and that is not trusting In Jesus for salvation (John 16:8-11 NKJV), no matter what denomination you are in... if we do trust in Jesus for salvation, God gives us a new heart and new godly desires (Ez 36:26-27). In John 17, Jesus prays for unity - Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali said... in essentials Unity, in non-essentials, Freedom, in all things Love... let us focus on the Nicene Creed which is Biblical (Catholic means universal and does not exclude any denomination). +John Smith The Catholic Canon of the Roman Rite was the 'first' Canon, collected, assembled and written down by the hard work of Catholic Monks and later approved into canon by the Church and all others were derived (changed) from it. The bible came to be through the work of the Catholic Church and approved it into canon law during the Nicaea Council in the third century. The other religions took the Catholic bible and added or subtracted from it in order to fit into their own doctrines. That's why the bibles and our Catholic beliefs are so similar with the Orthodox Churches but yet have differences. The Pilgrim Church founded upon Jesus and the Apostles is the Catholic Church of the Roman rite. Were it not for the saving work of Jesus and the faithful Christians like St. Paul to convert the hearts of the Romans (which took 300 years to legalize Christianity), we wouldn't have had the Council or the Bible. Does that mean we put walls up between our sisters and brothers of other Christian Churches? absolutely not, but we do hold onto the truths of the Catholic Church which includes the truths found in the Written Word.

Last night I was at a Catholic high school for a Christmas play and the night before, I was at a Catholic school supporting my 7th grade friend in her Christmas program.
I wonder if you feel attacked? I'm not attacking you and hope you don't interpret anything I say here that way. Of the hundreds of Catholics I know personally, only 3 or 4 say they read the bible. I find this odd because the priest, and bishop both encourage parishioners to read there bibles daily. When I went through RCIA the priest told me that the magisterium has always based church doctrine and tradition on the bible. Do you read your bible Zebb?

the jehovahs witnesses read their bibles. reading the bible and having it taught to you by heretics is MUCH worse than knowing the churches teachings and not reading the bible.
I saw so much error over the years that I honestly dont think its a good idea for people to interpret scripture for themselves. that has led to 35000 denominations of protestant. seems rather confused does it not?

zebb1111 I agree with others and have observed for myself that reading God's word and listening to someone else read Gods word is as different as eating food or watching someone else eat food. Seeing, that in scripture Jesus spoke about this principle extensively, to bring clarity to the difference between Practicing Faith and Living Faith.
I'm sure you and I agree on much, and we know as God's word says that it is good when we live in unity. Perspective is key to the issue of unity. You see protestants as un-unified, and especially out of unity with the Catholic church. But the unbelieving world looks at protestants and Catholics as all the same,... Hateful! I don't need unity with the protestant or the catholic church, we need unity with Jesus Christ, and I have found that! I still have struggles, I'm not without sin and fault. But I have found the best friend in the living man, Jesus Christ. I have no fear of condemnation before God because I live in daily relationship with His son. I am very thankful that ALL my sins were paid for in full by Jesus Christ on the cross. Its getting late.
      God Bless you

there is no strength outside of Jesus. But if you believe once saved always saved, then you are saying that being saved takes away all our freedom and we are forced from that point on into heaven. I say Gods grace nakes a holy life possible and that repentance is a continuing process as is salvation. doesnt mean It doesnt come from Christ. that I think is the big difference between us. you sqay Christs righteousness is imputed on us and we say it is transfered to us gradually by the effectual action of his grace. Its an energy, "energeia" in greek.
we both believe in salvation by grace and that Christ paid for all my sins. where I disagree is that a Christian can not change his mind and return to his sinful life.
that is a dangerous teaching that has led to the crappy Christians of today all praying for a brand new pick up truck instead of help with our pride and sin nature.
Hebrews up to 11? shouldn'ty ytou include at least 12 verse one that starts with the word since therefore continuing the Idea preceding, that we are surrounded by a cloud great of witnesses all there to help and lead us on the right path. The communion of saints.
      God bless.
By the way, all the ancient churches.....(those that see the Eucharist as a sacrifice.) read the word grace in this way. the greeks, the coptics , everyone exceept for humanist europeans starting around 1500 ad. your doctrine is new, not the bible passages, but the interpretation that avoids James chapter 2.. "we are not saved by faith alone". in your interpretation, James has no place in scripture and Luther was right to want to remove the book.
Read the early church fathers if you want to know how the apostles explained the bible. I'd rather listen to polycarp ans St-Ignatius than some divisive group 1500 years later. 35000 protestant divisions since Luther. before Luther died there were already close to a hundred.
division is not a fruit of the Holy Spirit. ts the fruit of people taking theinterpretation of scripture upon themselves when they have a hard time understanding shakespear let alone a book written 2000 years ago.
Yes, reaad your bible, but always refer to ancient fathers and Martyrs of the church for how these scriptures were used in the early church. Most protestants can't even name 5 martyrs of the generation immediately after the apostles. Iys like the book was written and then lost for 1500 years to be discovered in germany. really???
Christ requires humility Sola scriptura makes everyone his own pope which is an incredibly proud position whenone thinks about it.
Paul tells us in hei list of gifts that doctors and teachers were given to the church. Do you read the doctors of the church? have you reaad even one homily of st John Chrysotum? or an epistle of St-Ignatius, ordained and studied under St-John?
Study your bible by all means but pick your expounders well.

Did Jesus give the apostles the power to forgive sins in Matthew 16: 19 when he gave Peter the power of Loosing on earth what would be loosed in heaven and in John 20:21-22 when He said --Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them. Sacrament of Penance.
In Acts 8:14-17, apostles Peter and John went to those who had been baptized in Samaria but had not received the Spirit, and when they laid hands on the already baptized, the latter received the Holy Spirit, in what is called the Sacrament of Confirmation.
When the apostles laid hands on the first deacons, that was the Sacrament of Ordination, which is shown by Paul's instructions to Titus in which he told the disciple to ordain presbyters or elders. Sacrament of Orders.
In James 4:14-15, James says that if anyone is sick, a presbyter should be called who should anoint the person with oil and lay on hands to heal the person and forgive any sins. Sacrament of the Sick.
The Church also teaches that Marriage is a Sacrament, of which Paul says it is a great Mystery (Greek) or Sacrament (from Latin)
The Greatest Sacrament or Mystery is the consecrated Body and Blood of Jesus in the Eucharist as shown by His own words in John 6, in the Last Supper, and by Paul in 1st Corinthians 11.
The great Majority of Christians, particularly in the most ancient churches close to apostolic times have insisted upon the Sacraments as avenues of grace through Jesus Christ acting in them .

MANY MISTAKES IN THIS VIDEO; The Catholic Church is CHRISTIAN, since it holds Jesus as Lord and Savior, and moreover, it was He Himself who founded the One Church (John 17) for all nations (Matt 28:18-20) some 1,985 years ago promising that it would last till the end of time.
Jesus said to Shimon bar Yona, --You are Rock (Kepha in Aramaic, Jesus language, as seen in Galatians 1), and I will build My Church upon this Rock, and the gates of hell shll not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. What you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. What you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven---, as in Matthew 16:17-19.
Jesus changed the name of Shimon to Kepha or Rock , even though Jesus Himself is the Cornerstone Rock of Faith, but as He was to return to the Father, He left a Rock in His place on earth as guarantee of faith and unity of His disciples. He did not pick a man who was perfect, as only He is perfect. After Kepha/Peter denied Jesus, he was given another chance, as in John 21 to say whether he loved Him, and Jesus then Confirmed Peter by saying --Feed My lambs, Feed My sheep.
Jesus prayed for the Unity of All His disciples, as in John 17, as a witness to the world that the Father had sent Him, but that unity is broken into thousands of sects today, and the non believers point to that to ridicule Christ and us. Nevertheless, fully one Half of all Christians belong to the Catholic Church with 1,200,000,000 in all the world at the present and are united under the bishop of Rome as successor of Kepha/Peter, as was told by Irenaeus of Lyons around 180 AD, when he wrote in Adversus Haereses, that the church of Rome was ---founded by the glorious apostles Peter and Paul....and with which church all others must be in agreement---.
These former Catholics were converted to Which small Sect with which particularly different beliefs and who are not in communion with one another? When were their particular churches Founded and by Whom? Most of them were founded by Americans over 1.900 years After Jesus !
The New Testament contains the books chosen out of Many that once circulated and it contains only those books that were approved as the Only Inspired ones by the Bishops of the Catholic Church !.
Did Jesus command the apostles to write books and use them as the basis of His Gospel? NO. He sent the apostles to Preach and Teach what He had commanded them in all the time they had been with Him (Matt. 28-18-20). There were no apostolic writings for several decades. For the first three centuries, there was no New Testament universally accepted by all local churches. Only in the fourth century St. Athanasius of Alexandria and Councils of bishops in Rome and Carthage pronounced themselves for the present collection of books.
The Real Supernatural presence of Jesus in the Bread and Wine is believed by Catholics, all the Orthodox churches of the Mideast and eastern Europe, Lutherans, and a large number of Anglicans/Episcopalians. That is 1,200,000,000 Catholics, 200,000,000 Orthodox of the Mideast and eastern Europe, 70,000,000 Lutherans, and many millions of Anglicans/Episcopalians., all the Oldest Christian communities.
Jesus said in John 6 that His body is True Food and His blood is True Drink, but some of the disciples said, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" and they walked no more with Him ! They were like Evangelical Protestants ! When Jesus said This is My Body and This is My Blood at the Last Supper, these people say --He was not telling the Truth !!
Oh, it was all Figurative even though He repeated His words several times?? Even though Paul says in 1st Corinthians 11:23-29 that those who eat and drink Without Discerning the Body eat and drink Condemnation to themselves !
These people do not seem to have read and Understood the Scriptures !
Who was/is Mary? The mother of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; a man and GOD. Those who think Mary was just an ordinary woman have little understanding who the God of the universe is ! God is Great they will say, but they do not Understand., What does the Bible say about Mary? God the Father chose her as a Worthy mother for His Divine Son. She became the Tabernacle of the Almighty God. The Angel said, "Hail (Peace) very highly favored, The Lord is with you--! --Behold the slave of the Lord--said Mary. The Holy Spirit of God overshadowed her giving her the Divine Maternity ! Praise God ! When Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth, the latter was inspired to say, --How is it that the mother of My Lord should come to me? You are the most blessed of women and Blessed is the fruit of your womb!-- It was for Mary that Jesus wrought His first miracle, even though, as He said, it was not yet His time, and He acceded to her intercession with Him to change the water into wine. When some women said that His mother was blessed to have Him, He said it was more blessed to Believe, and Mary was the First to Believe at the message of the Angel. When Jesus called her Woman, it was not a lack of Respect, but a recognition that she was the New Woman as He was the New Man (Adam). Mary is exceedingly great before God, as she should be before all Believers. Luther and Calvin praised her, but modern sectarians do not, unbiblically.
These former Catholics did not really know their faith and have wandered away, either to different sects or to their Own personal faith, not realizing that Israel was One People and that the Christians of the many local churches mentioned in Acts and the Epistles were parts of One People of Christ under the Authority of the apostles and elders/presbyters, as in Acts 15, and as in Titus, where Paul sends him to organize the local churches and make presbyters/elders/leaders for them to Teach what All taught. Now these good people are Divided and present a Confused message to the World.

to "partake" of Jesus is to be INDWELLED by the Holy Spirit -- making you ONE with GOD and ONE with Jesus (John 17:21,23, 1Cor 6:17, 1Cor 12:13).

What did the Early Church Father's believe, St. Ignatius of Antioch who was taught at the feet of St. John the Apostle, and EVERY SINGLE CHRISTIAN FOR THE FIRST 1500 YEARS OF CHRISTIANITY???

its not a "hard teaching" if you are indwelled with the Holy Spirit and understand that Jesus taught that Eternal Life comes by BELIEVING that "Jesus IS The Lord/Christ" -- John 6:28-29, 35, 40, 47, 63.
and John 5:24, John 3:15-18, John 11:25-26, John 12:48-50, John 5:10-13, John 17:3 .... you can't read ALL of John and come away believing that it is sipping the sacrifice's blood (Lev 17:10-11) that gives eternal life -- John makes it CLEAR, it is BELIEVING in Jesus Christ that gives Eternal Life (Mark 16:15-16, Rom 10:9-10)

      VictorCrowne,
      Who's perverting John 6???
The WHOLE CONTEXT is the Passover Feast (John 6:4). In every synoptic Gospel account of the "Last Supper" Jesus Christ is celebrating and transforming the Exodus 12:14 "forever" GOD commanded Passover into the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19-20) commanding you what to EAT and DRINK and ultimately in John 6:54-57 for ETERNAL LIFE.
Please list out FULLY John 6:55 and interpret it in proper CONTEXT of the Passover and every synoptic Gospel account of what to EAT and DRINK.
***Watch what a false teacher does or in this case does not do revealing he has absolutely no regard for Biblical TRUTH - only serving himself (filling his pockets with guilible peoples money) and the master of deception and falsehood satan.****

One, YOU: Who's perverting John 6??? The WHOLE CONTEXT is the Passover Feast (John 6:4).
      ME: that would be YOU.
the CONTEXT of John 6 is Jesus comparing PHYSICAL things with SPIRITUAL things.
people who followed Jesus because he met their PHYSICAL needs,
      John 6: 2, 15, 26
people who followed Jesus for SPIRITUAL reasons, John 6:44,65
physical bread/manna from heaven that kept their bodies alive
      John 6:31-33, 49
spiritual bread/Jesus from Heaven that gives eternal SPIRITUAL life
      John 6:47-48, 35, 38-40
the reason that Jesus spoke "drink my blood" was to weed out all those that were not SPIRITUALLY called by God (John 6:44, 65) -- to weed out those Jews that understood Lev 17:10-11 but were not called by GOD and had no SPIRITUAL discernment (John 6:64).
John 6:63 and 47 and 28-29 sums up Jesus' SPIRITUAL point: BELIEVING in Jesus brings Eternal SPIRITUAL Life.
the OT Passover was comprised of elements that REPRESENTED or SYMBOLIZED the future Messiah (lamb, bitter herbs, etc) -- these elements did not become the ACTUAL/LITERAL body of Messiah when the Jews ate it.

    Sacraments in Scripture
Sacrament. From the Latin sacramentum, a word which denoted the oath of loyalty sworn by soldiers to their earthly lord, the emperor. It was applied by Tertullian around 200 AD to the Christian mysteries, by which man adhered to God. It thus acquired, as a technical term, the same implication as the Greek word mysterion, mystery, which is used to this day for the sacraments in Eastern Christianity.
Many times in Scripture God's action, presence, or the working out of His plan in history is said to be a mystery. The "mystery" is known to Him alone and those to whom He reveals it (Eph. 1:9, 3:3, 3:9). Only by faith in Divine Revelation can the spiritual truth behind actions and events be discerned. The Incarnation is such a mystery, since only by faith do we believe that the man Jesus Christ whom we see, read about, or have preached to us, is God. Further, Jesus is a mystery concealing not just His divinity but His Father. As he told Philip, "whoever has seen me has seen the Father" (John 14:9). Thus, we can say that Christ is a sacrament of His Father. The Church is a mystery, since it is the mystical Christ, Head and members. Vatican II speaks of the Church as the sacrament of Christ. Finally, the seven sacraments are mysteries which unfold in our souls and in our lives the working of Christ and His grace.
In each of the sacraments we can see that there is an outward sign of the mystery taking place, a sign in matter/deed and in word (Eph. 5:26), and that the sign bears a relationship to the spiritual grace or reality conferred by the Holy Spirit's action. In Baptism, for example, the individual is baptized in water, since water cleans, effecting an interior cleansing and renewal by God's gift of Himself (John 3:5, Acts 2:38). It also symbolizes dying and rising with Christ (Rom. 6:3-4), especially when performed by immersion. While the action of baptism is performed the word which Christ commanded is spoken (Mt. 28:19), completing the sign. Catholic teaching speaks of these two elements of the sign as matter (water) and form ("I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit").
Finally, one needs to remember that the New Testament is not a how-to manual of the sacraments and liturgy. Scripture witnesses to them, the early Christians didn't need more. Baptism is the most frequently spoken of, because it was a necessary part of evangelization. Once people were baptized the Church's pastors (bishops, priests and deacons) who received their instructions from the apostles, carried out the sacraments as they had been taught (2 Thes. 2:15). This is what is meant by Tradition, the communication of the apostolic teaching in the preaching, teaching and ritual practices of those who were appointed to lead the Church after the apostles.
Baptism. Scripture shows that John's baptism was a symbol of repentance, but not a sacrament. It did not confer grace. In the Acts it is clear that those who received Christian baptism also received the Holy Spirit, had their sins forgiven and became members of Christ, and thus of the Church. It is the foundational sacrament, the only one Philip thought necessary to confer on the Ethiopian eunuch. Matthew 3:16; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:8; Mark 16:16; John 3:5; Acts 1:4-5; Acts 2:38; Acts 8:16; Acts 8:36-38; Acts 11:16; Acts 16:15; Acts 16:33; Acts 18:8; Acts 19:3-6; Acts 22:16; Romans 6:3-4; 1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 5:25-26; Col. 2:12; 1 Peter 3:20-21, and many others.
Confirmation. Completes Baptism by a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit and enables the Christian for mission. This was seen at Pentecost with respect to the apostles. In the early Church it was often accompanied by charismatic signs, though these are not intrinsic to the sacrament. Conferred by the laying on of hands. In Acts 19:3-6, especially, it is clear that John's baptism, Christian baptism and Confirmation are all distinct realities. Also, in Hebrews 6:2 baptizing and laying on of hands are distinguished. Isaiah 44:3; Ezekiel 39:29; Joel 2:28; John 14:16; Acts 2:4; Acts 8:14-17; Acts 19:3-6; Hebrews 6:2.
    Eucharist. The Eucharist is visibly bread and wine but is in reality the Body and Blood of Christ. No mere symbols can effect eternal life. And abuse of no mere symbol can be worthy of damnation. In the early centuries the name of the Mass was the breaking of the bread. Yet, when word got out of what the Eucharist really was the Romans accused Christians of sacrificing babies and cannibalism, because they heard they ate human flesh. Matthew 26:26-29; Luke 24:35; Acts 2:42; 1 Cor. 11:24-27;
Penance. Christ gave authority, the keys, to the apostles to forgive sin, to decide between absolving or retaining guilt. This requires "confession" of sins for this judgment not to be arbitrary, hence the popular name of the sacrament. This authority was passed on to bishops, and from them to priests, with ordination. Matthew 16:19; John 20:21-23; Rev. 1:18.
Anointing of the Sick. Anointing prepares the person for death, and only incidentally may produce physical healing. The salvation and resurrection spoken of in James are in the first place spiritual. James 5:14-15.
Holy Orders. The threefold division of sacred ministers (bishops, priests and deacons) prefigured in the Old Law (high priest, priests, Levites) is clearly revealed in Scripture. Yet, most so-called "bible-believing" Protestant churches do not have them. Acts 6:3-6; Acts 13:2-3; 1 Tim. 3:1; 1 Tim. 3:8-9; 1 Tim. 4:14; 1 Tim. 4:16; 1 Tim. 5:17-19; 1 Tim. 5:22.
Matrimony. Marriage is, as St. Paul states, a mystery (mysterion). The Latin word used to translate mysterion is "sacramentum". The sacraments are mysteries (as Eastern Christians still call them), for one thing is visible and something else is known by faith. By faith, matrimony is a sign of Christ and the Church, as well as a special calling. Mt. 19:10-11; Eph. 5:31-32.

Yes, until about 500 a.d. priests were allowed to be married. Priestly celibacy is a disciplinary rule of the Church, not a doctrine, and could be changed by the pope at any time. Catholic priests in eastern Europe and the Middle East have always been allowed to be married.
