Damn straight. I had friends just like Lucy & velma. When I was a kid I had such a crush on a boy. His family moved back to the Rez. He looked like Thomas. Eeey!✊
Got to meet Evan Adams (Thomas) once. He's super down to earth and kind. Just a remarkable individual. I've heard Elaine Miles (the woman driving the car) is very friendly too.
That makes sense. There are different ethnic groups that have interchangeable personalities. A lot of people say Jews and Italians are very similar in some ways. I have a close friend who is a pizza bagel ( half and half). Her mother did convert to Judaism but she still spends Christmas, Easter, etc with her big Italian family. You know who else is a pizza bagel... Fran Drescher aka The Nanny.
@@yadirarivera2387 Right!? The comment really illustrates how much latinx culture has been mentally separated from native culture but is still really the same. Cause yknow, its the same. more similar to plains natives than west coast natives are.
In the beginning where the radio host says some ones name from "desmet" not spelled like that, but that is a real place. My family is from there. The REZ.
Love the last part. One thing that pisses me off is how history books underplay the fact that the westward expansion issue was a huge reason for the revolutionary war. The British wanted to respect the boundaries at the Appalachian mountains and the Americans wanted to go west and drive the natives off of their lands. Had the British won the natives would have clearly been better off, like in Canada. People get so moralistic about the Confederate flag saying it was for slavery, but I would wager that the average soldier fighting the British thought much more about westward expansion than the average confederate (who was usually to poor to have slaves) about slavery.
@@elliewuzzup7689 Thanks. Wish many SJWs against the Confederate flag would recognize this. If they want to condemn it they can go ahead, but at least to be consistent in their judgment of the American flag.
@@Rzo139 shitty and horrible but better than how it is for natives in the states. Saying that as a Native American who lives in Canada. But even tho it’s better, doesn’t mean it’s great, or that it devalues the lost indigenous women.
As an indigenous person, I can confirm that we are exactly like this
Me and my family all love coke so possibly
And alot of us do say ENIT alot hehe. ENIT danu? Hehe
Damn straight. I had friends just like Lucy & velma. When I was a kid I had such a crush on a boy. His family moved back to the Rez. He looked like Thomas. Eeey!✊
As an Indian I know this well eh
Im a bolivian-brazilian with native decendence, c'mon, first at all we are people, we are human beings, just like John Trudell have sayed.
“All the hippies were tryna be indians anyway”😭💀
The car going backwards is priceless
It's a Rez car!
Why was the car going backwards?
@@wwefuture01 it was just stuck in reverse
@@wwefuture01 that’s the only gear that works!
My brother in law did this in California but his car could go forward! He's not indigenous either, to this day I'm not sure why he did that.
I could listen to him tell stories forever. His part is so cute
'Pleaded down to Being an Indian in the 21st century.' Love this movie so much!
Fine example of the oral tradition!
1:30 her little face and then returning to driving; like she nailed this character 😂
The radio broadcasts in this movie are everything
Got to meet Evan Adams (Thomas) once. He's super down to earth and kind. Just a remarkable individual. I've heard Elaine Miles (the woman driving the car) is very friendly too.
"Plea bargained that down to being an Indian in the 20th century." What a line!
Watched this movie today in class and ngl it was such a good movie
Cool! What class was that?
Fun fact: Both Irene Bedard and Michelle St. John are the voices of Pocahontas and Nakoma.
That's awesome
This comment just made this scene so much better
And Adam Beach played Squanto for Disney.
The world needs more folks like Thomas Builds-the-Fire in it. I know MY life certainly does.
Dr. Evan Adams did such a fine job with that character.
Such a good movie, haven't seen it in years.
So many good lines~
I love Lucy and Velma sm. They're such aunties.
I should get a car that drives backwards😂😂
Just put the gear in reverse and voila
1:16 Here you go, Lucy Goosy. Have a Coke, eh?
This whole clip is hilarious.
I love this movie
Velma and Lucy remind me of 2 Latina girls, even though they are both Native American.
That makes sense. There are different ethnic groups that have interchangeable personalities. A lot of people say Jews and Italians are very similar in some ways. Well Latina girls are indigenous they are just more colonized with European etc. So technically Latina girls remind you of Native girls.

Thomas Should Of Been A Marvel Writer 🤣
OMG! I have to watch this movie again!
Lucy (Elaine Miles) who was driving the car played the wife of Graham Greene’s character from The Last of Us.
I need to find this damn movie
Me too 😂

Saw film when it came out - car & driver were the indelible message I took away.
This is like my tribe
best movie ever
This Movie is Priceless ... I had a car like that in early 70's ... Now, with the new Commander in Thief, we ALL will have one... Enjoy!

I read the book in high school and loved it. So much better than other crap we had to read like joy luck club
It's like The Net when the master hacker says "In real life" when seeing IRL on the screen.
I love the fact that Pocahontas, Nakoma, and Squanto are all in the same movie together!
Lol they plea bargained that down to being a native in the 21st century
Velma is like the Indigenous version of Pauly Shore
"Indian time". 😉👍
2022:
Hope you two got your vaccinations.
O the irony
Anyone know the song that was playing on Lucy's car radio that Velma said she loved?
road buddy by dar williams, hope this helps!!
