- I've been doing my best to beat this little dude up and really find out it's strengths and weaknesses. Have you tried the Avata yet and if so what do you think? I'd love to hear your opinion in the comments below.

I've never flown manual FPV before but I fly like this on the Liftoff sim with the DJI RC 2. My Avata is being delivered Thursday. Hopefully my sim time translates quickly and I start getting some flights like this soon. IRL that is ;)

[Watching] flying through tight gaps in trees in a park gets boring pretty quick, but watching all your other Avata flying was way more amazing. I especially liked the fly through over the diving board and pool area, and all the nature (other than the park/tree stuff) and over water stuff was great. Oh, and the building fly around was great too. 👍

Yup, even with the stock motors this thing still rips. There are limitations of course but you just need to find them out.

Great skills, I have to say. It motivates me when I see what this small drone can do. As you mentioned it's great for beginners they can progress from N mode to full Acro. It's great starting point for all FPV people. I've got one too 😊 I like the video great footages 👍😎

For me the dji fpv drone was a desaster in every point, but the avata is really nice. There are two things what i can complain about, the first is the washout in fast turns with sensitive rates (200/670/0.54), and the second thing is that gyroflow only works with the "wide" FOV, but the "ultra-wide" FOV, which would a better option for gyroflow stabilization, doesnt work with gyroflow.
Wonderful honest and fun video. Great flights and video editing in the end. I am interested in the Avata but the price is out of my league. Hope to someday catch a sale where I can get the bundle with FPV controller for around $500-$800.
The up front cost is certainly substantial. You add the price of the kit, fly more bundle, a case, some ND filters, the RC 2 for manual flight, and Care Refresh you are looking at about $2000. You have to be able to justify that cost, imo.

Nice review and the footage is great. I have been interested in FPV for a while but didn't want to invest the time to leaning builds and coding. The Avata is far more capable than I would ever expect it to be for my needs. Easy choice.

Finally nice to hear someone else had the door issue... Yes my fault for not ensuring it was securely closed... It did open during flight, cut the door off,which was good because the props were fine and the drone landed fine. Just can't seem to get a replacement and maybe I won't bother but worried about the memory card or dirt getting in there.
Stick a piece of gaffa tape over it.

Honestly, it changes which is another huge benefit of the Avata. For stuff like going to the river/water fall I use a lower camera angle like 10-15. I normally fly around in 30.

Your vid is the one that convinced me to make the purchase. I have two other DJI consumer drones and have been itching for FPV for a couple of years. I wish they had a kit that included standard controller, but maybe will find used. DJI has let users down with some other items like the follow focus unit for which they just stopped making the batteries. Wish me luck.

Controller 2 is headed here this week and I can't wait to rip our Avata with that thing!! Really appreciate your thoughts on this thing man. It is absolutely a smooth cruiser cinewhoop at heart, and I think most people are going to stick to that kind of flight. It is a perfect rig for new pilots looking to get that FPV experience without having to put in the grind that the rest of us had to. keep on sending this thing bro!
The motion controller is cool but this drone is waaaayy more fun and capable in full manual. I want to see you rip it around too bro! 😜
@@MurdersFPV My wife really appreciates the motion controller, and I totally get why....but dem sticks is where it is at! lol. They didn't have the Controller 2 in stock when we ordered the Avata, so hopefully it comes in before the end of the week and I can find myself a desync this weekend!
@@BaconNinjaFPV yeah it's not the juiciest drone out there. Seriously take it to a grass field and get used to how it handles with different maneuvers. I'm thinking of doing a trick video with this thing. Everything from power loops to trippy spins.

We both started about the same time and it has become about all I think about. You have progressed much more than I. Open freestyle has become what I do most. I wouldn't mind getting cine with it again chill a wee bit. I never upload either that may need to change.
Since April 10th of last year, FPV has been an everyday thing to me. I've never had this much passion for a hobby or pass time. It just scratches every itch for me. I can tap into my creativity through freestyle and editing, I love music so this allows me to incorporate that into videos, and I've been doing electronics since highschool so building/tuning/repair fulfills my need to tinker. I have so much love for the community that I'm always compelled to give back.
You really should start posting more. Just make videos you like and I'll totally watch them. I just subbed and hit the notification bell.
Evidently, there’s an issue with being too fast on yaw I saw something with Bordwell and Blunty talking about it and I’ve seen a couple videos. I am not a super good freestyle and this drone is helping me with getting some confidence at going through gaps. You picked it up pretty quick.
Yeah, it's not just yaw. It's really any fast movement but it's more prevalent during yaw because that's where most quad copters have the least authority. Having built and tuned several drones I am pretty confident that I know the cause. I hope it can be resolved with a future firmware update but there are also rumors that 3rd party manufacturers are looking to make upgraded motors for the Avata which will be sick.

I've tried them all and even though there are some that look great, Velocidrone is the only one with anything close to legit physics. It's the only one I still use to "train" with. I play the others for fun only.
Great informative video. I agree. This isn’t a pure acro drone. It’s a great hybrid that segways you into the sport. I definitely enjoy the smoothness and speed of the drone in the cinewhoop frame.
Perfectly said. I know it will for sure get some of these people into the "real" hobby but there are also a lot of people who simply want to have something that flies decently and it just works.

Wow! Just the best fluid video of the AVATA I have watched ! Most FPV videos I watch the pilot does so many hard turns and rolls and loops that is actually a show of dexterity where the beauty of FPV flight is not really the main object of the video. You on the contrary are showing a new kind of FPV video where the smoothness, the beauty of the FPV flight itself along with your abilities and the background music all add up to a revolutionary concept which I appreciate ! I appreciate that big time. 🙌 I've always strived to be fluid yet precise in my flying. To meld it perfectly with music that I enjoy to provide an experience rather than just simply flipping and flopping around with no real purpose.

Some of these shots were manual and some in auto. You can absolutely have full control over the camera settings I'm just lazy. Lol

It's honestly just two random battery straps I had. You usually get them for free when you order FPV drone parts. These are my favorite kind and you'll want two.
