@Amplass 333 In my opinion, when it comes to the '70-'74 Continentals, the standard interior trims always looked rather boring to me (ok, I actually don't mind the '70 version, but the other years, especially in leather!). The Town Car option has always been my favorite interior trim of those years (I even like it on the '69 model, the first time it was available!) but, when they added the Twin Comfort Lounge Seats (50/50 split bench) option to the Town Car and Town Coupe (new for '73) models of '74, it was a change for the better! I also said, in another comment, that I like the fact that if you wanted a Town Car or Town Coupe with cloth upholstery from 1974 and later years, it was the only way you could get it!
@george wilson I have it on DVD and, in my careful observation, Cannon's 1970 Continental sedan DID NOT have the Town Car interior option (yes, it was available in 1970, nonetheless)! The upholstery had vertical pleats whereas the Town Car option had horizontal strap-style pleats with chrome buckle-type medallions on each end and the Town Car also featured wood-tone inserts on the door trim panels (among other features), something the other non-Mark Series Continental trims DID NOT have! I just wanted to point that out.
Regarding the '72 Mark IV, one of my favorite color combinations is Gold Moondust Metallic (order code=6G) with Dark Brown vinyl roof (order code=7) and Dark Tobacco (brown) leather (order code=BZ).
Love the ads and the Automobiles. Does anyone have the b1982 Lincoln Continental introduction video with the stars falling from the sky forming the Continental deck lid?

Robb Rogers had a 74 Mark IV that got stolen right after I had it’s insides redone and new paint I spent so much time trying to make it perfect then I get it done and then it’s gone
Funny the only people who knew that Marks weren't Lincolns were the ad people and Ford themselves. Listen to Mulligan say "Lincoln Continental Town Car" and "Continental Mark IV", he doesn't say "Lincoln Continental Mark IV". But that distinction was lost on the public who always referred to the Marks as Lincolns.
@rmbb1981 It's been said that many people erroneously referred to Chrysler's defunct Imperial make as Chrysler Imperial when, in fact, about circa 1955 to the end in 1975, it was intended to compete with Cadillac and Lincoln!
It's problematic because the official make of the car is Lincoln, even though it does not say that anywhere on the car. The only car Ford ever produced by the actual Continental Division was the Mark II.
This may have been one of the last times when we as Americans would exercise any real creativity - and self-respect! These days, it seems as though our Great American Society has gone straight down the drain!

Since 1972, the US has invented all manner of new technologies; the Space Shuttle, the Hubble telescope, the personal computer, the internet, 3D printing etc. You think these gaudy, inefficient hulks were the last examples of real creativity? Give your head a wobble.
@Paul Cheek What's worse is they now make them ALL (even Cadillac has lost some of its individuality!) look more like foreign pieces of shit! God willing, I'll push an American make before I buy a foreign one!
Lincoln Continental and the Continental Mark until Lincoln produced the brand Town Car, was a separate division the Continental Mark was produced by Mercury and the Continental was produced by Lincoln brand. The Mercury produced Continental Mark stayed in production until 1986 when Lincoln put their brand on it check the vin numbers and when Lincoln sold the Continental brand to Rolls Royce for their Bentley Continental LSC high performance coupe.

I've said for years now....America has no luxury brands. Cadillac is a joke....they will never be Mercedes Benz or BMW. Lincoln....Ford should have scrapped the brand and left Mercury in play. Nobody wants an 80K Taurus. Chrysler....umm...are they still around....oh yeah, mini vans and 300's that haven't changed in over 10 years, and were not good from the start. And people ask me all the time, why don't you own an American car? Well, my Toyota truck is the best money can buy for trucks. And my Jaguar XJ8 is total luxury, art on four wheels. America cannot compete.
I've said for years now.... European/Japan has always overrated brands. Your childish statment is one big joke! Give me a Mercedes or a BMW, one example of luxury, list of amazing standard equipment, body style and power, in time when there were these land yachts Lincoln's, Chrysler's, Cadillac's etc... You really don't know nothing about car industry... America invented private luxury car! For radio, air conditioning or electric power windows, in Europe you have to have a small fortune to get it in your Bimmers, Merc Benz, and other overpayed cars.
I just drove an E-Class yesterday; it was somewhat a 2009-2016 one and I was glad I was back in my Chevrolet. It just felt more solid. Yes, sir, truly better made. Now, the plastics aren't better in my Chevy, the styling less classy but overall it feels better. So, no, Mercedes-Benz is not a premium car brand at all (not talking about the S-Class and higher).
For our final in high school gym class, we had to run 5 laps around a Lincoln Continental Mk. IV.

my brother bought a brand new cartier edition mark v in either 76 or 77. it was dove grey if i remember correctly. what a beautiful car it was.
If it's a Mark V, it was a '77. Dove Grey is correct for the Cartier Designer Series in either year. I have a '77 Cartier.
That Mark IV is beautiful. My neighbors had one and I loved watching it pull in the driveway...lol
Great seeing Rich Mulligan doing the commercial!

HE was already working for Chrysler
@@OsbornTramain Commercials for Chrysler while playing Cannon sponsored by Ford Motor Company driving cool silver Lincoln Mark's, how ironic.

My 1972 Mark IV sold for about 7k-8k when new. Mine is worth it's weight in scrap. It does run though.
1972 was the last good year for a really long time and '72 was the last good looking Mark IV front ends before the ugly '73 bumpers came along.

Really? Is that why he mentioned "that other luxury car company" and most competition did as well? Ya know? Cadillac?
Many a man with cement boots took their last ride in life in the trunk of those cars.
Richard Mulligan also played a great character in 1985's 'The Heavenly Kid'. As for the cars, the Mark IV was beautiful, but I prefer the Eldorado.
The Eldos had a much more advanced suspension system, IMHO. They were much nicer driving vehicles.
