Did you mention if the gauge was reasonably accurate?

Not sure that I did. But from memory the PSI gauge was pretty accurate. I was totally surprised how many times I could inflate tires. It really is a great little, lightweight pump for the price.

How high a pressure can it achieve?

According to the specs, 120PSI, although no idea if that is true or not.
What I can tell you from my own experience, is it has zero problems pumping up motorcycle and car tires multiple times on a single charge.
