In 4 or so years, the new sleeper and long distance trains will come to Norway. I believe they (Norske Tog) will be signing the contract with one of the competing companies in 2023. Very interested in what will be delivered, as sleeper trains have become more popular in recent years.

Looks like a good option, though unlike on most nightjet trains (or Swedish night trains) there's no shower on board. And I guess you'd miss a lot of landscape so for my upcoming trip I'm not sure if I'll include an overnight section.

I took a day train up to Trondheim from Oslo, so got to see the scenery before taking the night train back, this was pretty convenient for me so this could be an idea for you?

@@TheRailwayLife0710 I'm actually considering to do both Oslo - Trondheim (which I know) and Trondheim - Bodö (mostly new to me) during the day. After that I'll take the ferry to Moskenes, do some hiking in Lofoten, take bus via Narvik to Tromsö and on to Northern Norway (there's a 7-day pass for buses). The way back will be from Narvik via Sweden, I guess with another stopover in Kiruna and then overnight to Stockholm and back via Germany from there.
