In this show they kinda have a sibling relationship. Shadow is the older frustrated brother who isn't great at communicating and Sonic is the younger reckless brother who doesn't listen. In fact Sonic not listening to anyone in the show is exactly the reason they all find themselves in this mess. This whole ordeal is Sonic's fault which is great because it sets the scene for some great character development.
It seems that Shadow is fed up with Sonic’s recklessness. I think it’s evident throughout the entire franchise that Shadow isn’t great at communication - which is understandable, considering his past. Sonic seems to be the one who started the first fight. Shadow even tells him as they’re fighting that he needs to “listen for once”, implying that maybe Shadow wanted to talk to him instead. Either way, yes, Shadow is trying to do the right thing and although his methods aren’t great, his intentions aren’t bad.

There was no meaning behind it. He just thought it sounded funny. He was always meant to be a great hero, but his trauma and being manipulated twice really damaged him mentally. That caused him to really become an “anti hero”.. he’s trying his best to do what’s right but he needs someone to be there for him. If he gets help, he will definitely be a hero again

Antivillain is the opposite of that, is someone who does acts of evil but different from traditional villains(who have no reasonable motivations to do evil acts), antivillains have comprensible motivations to do those evil act: Gerald Robotnik seeking revenge at humanity for killing María.
Shadow was never sonics sasuke and they need to stop treating them like that, these characters have developed a huge mutual respect for each other in SA2 which is why they lend each other a hand whenever they need to. Having an entire agency raid his home trying to take him in for being a weapon (even though he isn’t), Maria trauma, being sent to a new place and being put into a coma for 50 years, being brainwashed to be evil, losing his memories and being manipulated a second time… yeah even after all of that he’s as heroic as he can possibly be. The poor guy’s completely mentally broken and he still holds it all together to do what’s right. Even with a petty rivalry on the side, Shads is a hero. He just needs someone to talk to who can help him through his mental issues

Daniel your were close though about everything but not spot on if you see most games shadow is on the heroes side saving the world and protecting it from eggman. Even though shadow is an anti hero which is the part you have correct he is barely sided on the villain team which is just sa2 because he had his reasoning back then and depends which routes you pick in shadow the hedgehog game which you can side on the netural path or the villain path or the hero path. Which so far makes them the only 2 games he is helping the villains team so far to get his goal achieved. Shadow is for sure heroic, he sacrificed himself to save the world in SA2 after realizing he was brainwashed, saves silver from mephiles his manipulation AND saves the world again in that game. And in his own game he also decided to save the world in the true ending so idk man he is a hero, just a different one than sonic
In Sonic Prime, Shadow was heroic. He helped Sonic figure out how to set things right, helped him in the big battles, saved his life and then ensured that what happened before could never happen again. While he did attack Sonic at first it wasn't unheroic. As Season 2 Episode 1 shows, he kicked a huge rock at him only to stop him, and attacked him to get him to stop talking and start listening. He was awesome, and was easily my favourite character in the series. Ian Hanlin did a fantastic job with his voice.
People need to remember something very important. Shadow’s been through so many horrific events in his life… an agency saw his mere existence as a threat (even though it wasn’t) and raided his home, his sister got shot right before he was sent to a place he’s never been before, he was essentially put into a 50-year coma, brainwashed to be a villain, lost his memories later and was manipulated a 2nd time. The poor guy’s completely mentally broken. But after all of that, he’s still doing all that he can to keep the planet safe and peaceful. Shadow is a hero, arguably the greatest hero of mobius, but his trauma along with being manipulated 2x, has messed with him to the point where he’s stuck in mental purgatory as an anti-hero. Idk if he’s intentionally acting grumpy so people don’t like him, or if he’s just emotionally done, but he needs someone in his life to talk to. Someone to get through him and help him break free from his trauma. Amy or even Sonic would be great here. Amy’s shown to have the ability to bring out a softer side of Shadz. Regardless, if he can get help and can be shown that love and friendship aren’t signs of weakness, then he will eventually become the great hero he was always meant to be
I have to say he was reluctant to work with Sonic, and they have to work together and saving each other's life. When he found out that Sonic has Prism power energy (spoilers for those never seen season 3), he did save his life and also in the end, he helps to get back to their world, right where it started. He did stop Eggman by teleport the Prism shards away with him. So that's his heroic thing, in his own way
Shadow bery much felt like Reverse Flash in Flashpoint for Sonic during Prime. didn't even lift a finger to his demise. was just all "look at what you did... this is all your fault" while having the knowledge and power to fix it if people stopped getting in the way

I think you didn't understand the whole show. Shadow literally told Sonic every time and Sonic didn't listen then mocking Shadow about them being rival and stuff. Everybody knows he's not the type of "heroic". He just trying to make things better
Shadz is a hero. His trauma has gotten in the way of him being the great hero he’s meant to be, so maybe he’s stuck as an anti-hero for now. Sonic doesn’t realize this and is just super cocky for no reason. If he understood shadow, he’d definitely help him through his problems
I hope in the second season, they team up. I know they’re not friends, but maybe they’ll reach some common ground during their journey. It would be cool to see both of them have an arc.

Whenever sonic isn’t being reckless and the writers know what they’re doing, sonic and shadow can get along if there is a common goal. I thinks shadow is being reasonable since this version of sonic seems to be a bit foolish as well

Shadow is an Anti-hero, simple. It's like how I consider the Payday gang to be anti-heroes, mostly because they are the side that overall does good, so much so that even the comissioner begrudgingly admits how they've cleaned Washington DC of corruption and crime. Also the ending but that's a low bar. My point is Shadow is rightfully mad. He admittedly doesn't listen Sonic out, but honestly it's satisfying to see him beat the shit out sonic from time to time.

It's sad that despite how he feels about the heroes he feels like he can not trust anyone of them to total feel comfortable with telling or admitting that he sees them as friends and they are the closest he has to a family but he has big trust issues as he is still traumatized till this very day about why he has trust issues with everyone and clearly feels like he knows he can trust himself he barely shows emotions to everyone else just hides his feelings.
Because he has very good reasons why he doesn't trust people due to his sad traumatized past that is not even shadow's fault he did nothing wrong to get everything taken away from him at his birth place and everything. As for sonic prime he is punching sonic out of anger because believe it or not shadow tried to get sonic to stop and listen to him that what sonic is about to do is going to make things go bad for there home but sonic never wanted to listen and carried the fight on shadow knew it was pointless to try to reason with him he got annoyed with it then well trying to stop sonic from doing anything stupid by force is what he is trying to do if that makes sense.

Shadow is for sure heroic, he sacrificed himself to save the world in SA2 after realizing he was brainwashed, saves silver from mephiles his manipulation AND saves the world again in that game. And in his own game he also decided to save the world in the true ending so idk man he is a hero, just a different one than sonic
In Sonic Prime, Shadow was heroic. He helped Sonic figure out how to set things right, helped him in the big battles, saved his life and then ensured that what happened before could never happen again. While he did attack Sonic at first it wasn't unheroic. As Season 2 Episode 1 shows, he kicked a huge rock at him only to stop him, and attacked him to get him to stop talking and start listening. He was awesome, and was easily my favourite character in the series. Ian Hanlin did a fantastic job with his voice.
People need to remember something very important. Shadow’s been through so many horrific events in his life… an agency saw his mere existence as a threat (even though it wasn’t) and raided his home, his sister got shot right before he was sent to a place he’s never been before, he was essentially put into a 50-year coma, brainwashed to be a villain, lost his memories later and was manipulated a 2nd time. The poor guy’s completely mentally broken. But after all of that, he’s still doing all that he can to keep the planet safe and peaceful.
Shadow is a hero, arguably the greatest hero of mobius, but his trauma along with being manipulated 2x, has messed with him to the point where he’s stuck in mental purgatory as an anti-hero.
Idk if he’s intentionally acting grumpy so people don’t like him, or if he’s just emotionally done, but he needs someone in his life to talk to. Someone to get through him and help him break free from his trauma. Amy or even Sonic would be great here. Amy’s shown to have the ability to bring out a softer side of Shadz. Regardless, if he can get help and can be shown that love and friendship aren’t signs of weakness, then he will eventually become the great hero he was always meant to be

I have to say he was reluctant to work with Sonic, and they have to work together and saving each other's life. When he found out that Sonic has Prism power energy (spoilers for those never seen season 3), he did save his life and also in the end, he helps to get back to their world, right where it started. He did stop Eggman by teleport the Prism shards away with him. So that's his heroic thing, in his own way

Shadow is an Anti-hero, simple.
It's like how I consider the Payday gang to be anti-heroes, mostly because they are the side that overall does good, so much so that even the comissioner begrudgingly admits how they've cleaned Washington DC of corruption and crime. Also the ending but that's a low bar.
My point is Shadow is rightfully mad. He admittedly doesn't listen Sonic out, but honestly it's satisfying to see him beat the shit out sonic from time to time.
