if you are into older Porsche, you maybe should take a look to _AP CAR Design_ --> www.ap-car-design.de/
You can build/design your 964 or 993 from "every screw" on to suspension/engine etc. ...
and it is not too expensive for the outstanding! quality they deliver in my opinion.
No I don't work there, but I watched some of the _JP Performance_ video series and triggered my father _(who is/was^^ watching for an awesome 964 for his collection)_ with it.

Right!? I'm remembering talking with Robert about aircooled at some point and never heared any allusion so I thought this was it but would be so cool if Robert would do it. Also please don't take an RS and make 2-3 mods but take a base carrera and make it yours, would love to see this! They really are amazing and give a lot of driving pleasure :)

Man that sound is just something else! Even the shifter sounds are great. Just feels sturdy.
That lap looked like pure joy. Love the older cars and seeing it updated like it was, makes me want do to a 993 or 964 just like that one. If someday I can ever afford one.

Air cooled engines are great for recreational vehicles. I've got an air cooled 101cc 2 stroke Yamaha scooter with a bunch of Malossi transmission mods, ghetto rear brake upgrade and Savva slicks that rips balls up to 110kph 😅 I've got the variator and clutch set up for short course work, backing into corners like a super moto type of schtick. Loads of fun and no worries because it's an air cooled auto lube 2 stroke.
Got a chunk of foam under the seat and a spare bottle of Maxima castor based 2 stroke oil jammed in the foam - that's as far as the worries go, making sure there's spare oil 😀👍🏼🇿🇦

The same reason I didn't turbo my mk4 R32, I simply enjoy the ability to stomp the throttle to the floor while in a turn/exiting a turn. The ease of being able to drive it fast is undervalued, more fun driving, less anxious driving!

They are indeed great cars, not the fastest but in terms of smiles per mile, nothin will come close, when the revs hit 4.5k rpm you are done simple as that. You won’t want to stop driving the car. I drove mine around France 2214k miles in august 2022. Even my Mrs was in awe and renamed her the “Beast” when we got back to blighty. They are brutally tough cars, very unrelentingly rugged and stupendously well built. Driving on the track I don’t know about, but I toured around Europe in mine, Spain, France 5 years straight and they savour a beating, and beat it hard you will and it will just take it like a champ. It’s a car that simply won’t fail like a top of the range Swiss watch, ROBUST will be in your vocabulary every time, oh did I mention the sound at 4.5k rpm, GOD forbid you put in ITB’s and RS airbox well set up suspend (as I have done) etc you will have the best sounding car on earth guaranteed. 🙏🏿

Very, very nice car. That looked very satisfying to drive. Regarding the camera angle, I prefer it. Although I bet you don't like people seeing you use the break pedal.
I think with that car if the motor was taken out and worked on with respects to blueprinting it and really getting everything balanced right and then revving nice and fast and high it would make much more sense. You probably wouldn’t get huge power gains but it would absolutely sing and still have a very very usable power band.

If I were a bit picky, I would only add a racing harness. This is a treat.
Agree though I don't think it has a harness bar, so he would either need to change the rollbar for another one with a harness bar or bolt a fix on the rear seat panel as some do. Replacing the rollbar would be a shame as it seems to be an original Matter as fitted to the original 993 RS from factory.
nice cool lap, finally seeing both together in a car just cruising, not really pushing. other thing i wanted to comment about misha's m5..its just 2 simple things; how long do u wanna keep the car-meaning what mods can u put on it, besides sreten restoring it the best he can, so they last for a while. and 2nd how quickly can u obtain a 2nd one, if u can want to keep it stock, since u mentioned that it took a while to source one. so they dont really pop up on every corner for sale. i personally would restore it and upgrade a little bit, to modern standards so it can become daily, but then see how it preforms and what can u do next, since its quite old. (which is a good thing imo for such a vehicle). cheers, thumbs up!

Haha! Great to see and hear that you both like the 993! Slightly modified 964/993 models are very rewarding on the track and there is so much stuff you can do over time to tweak them. But Misha, you need to practice on your toe/heel :-) Otherwise, when you start pushing, the rear can easily overtake you if you don't revmatch when breaking hard. I try to manage it in my 964. If nothing else it saves the gearbox and sounds great 👍
Agree, beeing in the process of building a 964 "CS" for 5 years now mod by mod, it takes time but the car grows so much on you voer time. You have a LW FW no?

So you mentioned a 4.0l and light weight fly wheel. Has the owner considered a final drive? I know it sounds silly but those cars suffer from the same issue as the Boxster and Cayman, long gear not enough power syndrome. Could definitely make the car more lively without adding power, or maybe a 4.0l with a final drive 👀

I know how to do it (previois videos as proof). But it doesn't work on this car because there is a long delay. With the new engine and light flywheel, that issue will be solved.

Not sure what the Final Drive Ring gear is, but maybe a cheap-man's re-gearing via a 4.0 Ring-Gear + a LWFW and a nice 50:80 Guard LSD to give you more trail-braking ability to maximize the fun & ring-times

Excellent lap. Do you find the car difficult to heel and toe? I find it hard to do in my 964 because of the pedal placement (super tight in a RHD car).

I expected that Manthey would have installed a factory RS roll bar when they redid the inside.
They didn't do much on the interior, and what they did was on our request. There is a lot more to be done still
will you switch to a shorter gearbox set up? I had the impression that sometimes was difficult to chose the right gear because it was either too short or too long...
