After listening all on youtube again I still think that is the best singing...ever. When I first watched this I fell in love with everyting in this clip and it still continues Bravo!

Natürlich bin ich über Klaus Nomi hergekommen. Nanette Scriba hat es hier geschafft, dem Cold Song noch Mal einen völlig neuen Anstrich und eine tiefe Dramatik zu geben. Mit einer derart wandelbaren Stimme, dass man es mehrmals anhören muss um zu begreifen, was da passiert. Wirklich ganz große Kunst.

The perfect way you sing this, the performance, the stiff moves, the haunting make up, the black cloak, the setting in that bleak, nightmarish snow landscape... It's hard not to be compared with Klaus Nomi, for those who want to interpret this title. For me, the two are completely inseparable. But I agree with you, this version is really very interesting.

I am reminded of Nosferatu somehow... (not in a bad way) - the way she walks along the snow and holds her arms... all very expressionistic and wow! What a voice! Rivals Klaus... an excellent tribute! Even more stark in the German....

Боже мой, как же завораживает образ Nanette, её походка и положение как бы окостеневших рук... Очень понравился грим, что-то сверхъестественное в лице особенно когда так меняется форма рта то вытягиваясь в высоту, то уменьшаясь. Также изо всех прослушанных исполнителей этой арии хочу сказать, что для меня голос Nanette и именно это музыкальное сопровождение переносит на несколько веков назад. Спасибо большое!!!

Да, согласен. Это некая ретро-готика. Хотя готика уже подразумевает старину. Я грешил на некачественный звук, но потом понял, что имелось в виду - готика как она есть. Класс.
Я на ноздри смотрел. Музыка очень глубокая. Фундаментально крепкая, тяжёлая. Вместе с тем, гармонично просчитанная. Математически правильная. Логичная. Звук как бы происходит один из другого, нота за нотой на своем месте. Мне слышится фуга и токката Баха.

It's amazing in the German..... so harsh and 'cold'
It's hard to pick a favorite song when you can not even decide on a favorite genre. But I find myself coming back to this again and again and again, ad infinitum. Not even the song (though I do) but this version. It;s beyond great, it is otherworldly. Whenever I feel detached from the world, this song explains my universe and detachment. So I come back to this, in any mood or state of mind, and feel and have felt, for decennia, that this is the best song in the world. To me, it is just that :) The saddest, most tragic, heartfelt song in the entire world. Nothing more or less. A universe in itself, and my greatest enemy, as well as my greatest ally, in the darkest, most lonely and coldest of times...
Perfectly said and I can relate! And agree.... yes, it is a perfect song if you are not feeling right with the world, detached and alone..... in your own dark hole.... but this song and rendition expertly tunes into that.... and transmutes your soul..... I am listening to this in the hottest part of the summer in one of the hottest parts of the country, in the western United States.... and it will pacify my soul.... even though it is not necessarily agitated, but it will be a salve in general...
This song does that because it is so universal..... it speaks of what everyone, no matter who, has in common.... which is ultimately .... death....

Almost brought tears to my eyes! Just as beautiful as Nomi's version, plus the performance and video's atmosphere give me shivers. I'm mesmerized!
Of course, its unlikely anyone will ever surpass Nomi's live version, but this is without doubt the only genuine contender I've heard.

Aber Ihre Version, Nanette Scriba, ist eine der originellsten, grandiosesten und am besten gesungenen, die ich kenne. Sie haben eine wundervolle Stimme, eine starke Ausstrahlung und, ganz nebenbei, sind eine wunderschöne Frau!

Rock from today, or the way it started in the 70's and 80's, the 'darker metal' is basically a modern version of all this stuff from before.... musically, it has similar patterns....
CTHULHUCALL So it’s non-commercial, the music is meant to accent the vocals while never overshadowing it, the lyrics are beautiful and aren’t readily understood outside of knowing German, the video is during winter and is shot in a kvlt-like fashion, the singer is dressed as she is, and the whole thing is in such a dark tone it feels black as pine pitch. Did Dead take cues from Klaus Nomi? Maybe?...
Reminds me of some black metal bands like Immortal for example. Music clip with snow and war paints :)
