The words "worth it" will be on her tombstone. Saying (in 1996) that 500,000 Iraqi child deaths due to sanctions was "worth it" was outrageous, but not for the reason you might think. The figure was almost certainly wildly inaccurate, based on faulty data, but the fact that she didn't question it when asked and seemingly dismissed the deaths of half a million children was, and still is, extremely concerning.

In reference to 60 minutes: “‘War Criminal or Role Model?” One or the other. The newspaper headline offered no third alternative. I am a person who wants very much to be liked. For more than two decades, I have also been accused of some by starving babies and feeling good about it. The alligation has kept alive online and by social media, but it had its origin on the granddaddy of television new shows, 60 minutes. On May 12, 1996, the program broadcast footage of a shabby, ill-equipped hospital in Baghdad, featuring close-ups of sick and starving children. The accompanying report might as well been narrated by the Iraqi government, which had arranged access to his medical facilities for a CVS camera crew. The heart tugging segment was capped by a conversation between the networks top journalist, Leslie Stahl, and the US ambassador to the United Nations-me. “We have heard that half a million children have died [as a result] of UN sanctions on Iraq,” said Stahl. “ I mean, that is more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?” I can’t recall exactly what thoughts floated through my head at that moment, but judging by the result, none that was useful. I should’ve challenged the interviewers premise or rephrase the question myself, but lacked the quickness of mine to do so. I had already laid out the reasons for our opposition to Iraq’s dictator Saddam Hussein, a policy that had robust international support in the backing of both parties and Congress. Still, there is no valid excuse for how I replied to her question: “ I think that is a very hard choice, but the price, we think, the price is worth it.” Better I had cut out my tongue. I can’t blame people who saw that program or read the transcript for regarding me as insufferably Calais, and I have since apologized 1000 times for answering as I did. For some, the Chronicle of the cold-blooded granny has continued to defined me no matter what else I do or say. Because the networks report had the aura of a truth telling expose, it was rewarded an Emmy. In fact, the producers of 60 minutes were duped. Subsequent research has shown that Iraqi propagandists deceived international observers, convincing them that, due to sanctions, children were dying by the hundreds of thousands. Per a 2017 article in the British medical journal of global health, the data “were rigged to show a huge and sustained-and largely nonexistent-rise in child mortality… The objective of sit on the Saints government was to heighten international concern and so get the international sanctions ended.” The article, which draws on three separate studies, concludes, “There was no major rise in child mortality in Iraq after 1990 and during the period of the sanctions. Conversely, there was no major improvement in child mortality after the downfall of Saddam Hussein.” This is not to deny that UN sanctions contributed to hardships in Iraq or to say that my answer to Stiles question wasn’t a mistake. They did, and it was. The impression I made in the interview is holy at odds with the way I feel about the harm done to innocence as a byproduct of conflict, whether military or political. I despise the euphemisms “collateral damage,” and think commanders should be applauded, not excused for being weak, when trying to avoid civilian casualties stemming from military action. Economic sanctions those sometimes necessary, should be designed to apply pressure on leaders, not to make life more painful for average citizens. This is what I believe, but I failed to make those convictions clear in the interview, and critics were right to fault me for the oversight.” - excerpt from Hell and Other Destinations, M. Albright, 2022

I definitely agree that the U.S. committed genocide against indigenous people and colonized those areas, as well as Carribean and Pacific islands. I just don't know if the OP was referring to recent (versus historical) commission or current carry-over. Neither is good, but there does seem to be a shaded distinction in my mind. • @100consciouseternallightho6

I vote for the physicists that are brave enough to talk to us about the true state of existence. The meaning of E=mc2 is that mass and energy are the EXACT SAME THING. That is because subatomic particles spin and vibrate so fast NOTHING is solid or mass or material or physical. So how are we images? These super, super fast spinning and vibrating particles are 100% full of all the knowledge it takes to build one of us and everything else. This means this knowledge knows how to create our images constantly. Each time a quark bursts forth and spins billions of times a second as 3 points of light, forming what are called protons and neutrons, they are creating our images, which Barbara Brennan calls projection. Literally. Proven by quantum physics, the physics not afraid to speak up. Brennan is a physicist that wrote the book "Hands of LIght" to show us that we are eternal energy and light beings and holograms. She taught herself to see people as the holograms they are. Then she built a college system to teach everyone.
There is no need to be a fascist that believes in solidity and death and germs and viruses. All of these are not true. It takes solidity for death to happen. Solidity is an illusion. It does not exist. At what is called death, we pop out of these bodies to see ourselves as the electrical magnetic energy field vibrations we have always been.
Millions of people are having NDEs around the world to change it. They have seen other dimensions, other kinds of experiences that say we are not solid. I had a NDE as a child where I became aware of the energy beings around me. I was listened to and shown another way of thinking. I felt and heard these energy beings that some people call angels. I bonded with them because I have always been surrounded by people that believe in death and germs and the solidity these are supposedly dependent on. Believing in solidity is the major grief of this whole world.
Dare to think differently. Wars and prisons and big pharma make huge amounts of money from illusions. Our fiat money is one of these illusions. They kill billions of people because they can think of nothing else to do with their time. And that is so super sad because the rest of us struggle hard just to hang onto somewhere to live and something to eat. The point of that? We are all ONE, using one mind to think with, our hearts using one mind to beat with. We just don't see this light that we are saturated with.

The commonality in a fascist regime is communism. They trick stupid people into thinking that communism will give you free stuff like healthcare and college and that you will never suffer again. What they fail to tell you is that the problem with communism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. They use the media to promote communism and the idiots eat it up and can't wait to give up more of their money and freedoms. Then they turn around and call anyone trying to let people keep their tax dollars and freedoms... fascist.

The problem in the united states and Canada is that people don't want to be involved. We want to bitch and complain, but when it comes to getting off the couch and do something about it "we don't have time". We are borne and raised to just listen and not to have a mind of our own. Education is a privilege in our nations and is treated as such.
The other issue I hear lately from people is that they are so disgusted and have zero faith in government because no matter what we do or say the government will do what they want and they have do anything about it.
WRONG - The power is not in the individual, the power is with the people. Hence, Democracy. The Government works for the people, not the other way around. Take the time to e-mail your local government representative as a group. Whats louder, an individual or a crowd screaming. I will say this though, in the united states especially there is a lot of people gaining ground and protesting, more so than in Canada.
