For years I was burning the bark also, now that I know that is what causes that my glass to get dirty, I'll make sure to take the bark off. Thanks, Sara. Love yall's videos, keep up the great work.

Thanks for the tips. I have been using a wood-stove for over 30 years and this is the first time I have ever heard that bark contributes to mucking up the glass. I will be adjusting things accordingly and see how it work out.

I wasn't aware that bark could contribute to dirty glass. From my experience having wood too close to the glass and cutting back airflow has darkened the glass but running a fire with full airflow clears it on it's own. I do know that by weight bark holds a higher caloric heat value than the wood fibers so I will continue burning it. Work smarter, not harder.

So if you have a really messed up glass. To clean it take a damp paper towel and gently put it on some of the "white ash from your stove. Rub glass with this. Glass is pretty quickly returned to squeeky clean. 😎

Hi Sarah, i just ordered a new grate from you today for my HE43. My fireplace was supposed to have a clean glass technology but it seems i have to clean it alot. I'm wondering if i could spray a cooking spray or something to keep soot from sticking to it as much and cleaning easier.

Do not spray the glass with oil, it will produce smoke into the house. Are you getting proper draft on your chimney?

What is the best way to clean the glass once it is dirty?

Using your ash you clean from your stove will clean the glass. Put some in a container and add some water make a paste. And take a rag and then what off the dirty stuff off your glass. And rinse with a clean wet rag.

Isn’t it the case that bark will make the logs burn for longer as it’s a natural fire protection that eventually burns … rather clean the glass every so often 🤷‍♂️ … just my thoughts
