  • In this video I use my Testors airbrush to spray a fine coat of Feast Watson French Polish on a new bright white chicken head knob so it matches the slightly yellow vintage style knobs on a John Mayer signature Fender Stratocaster. Then I seal the shellac with a couple of coats of Dulux Duramax semi-gloss clear lacquer. In the past I've used spirit stains like Prooftint to dye ABS plastic guitar parts, but I've never tried this method...

I only have a 3 way switch and an on/off switch on my gigging Strat copy. I like to keep it simple live

Thanks! I’m looking forward to the full video. Will it have a wiring diagram for the rotary switch mod?

Hi Matt. I've just added a link to the original video for the wiring mod in this video's description, and the wiring diagram is on my website. Cheers!

Try this to yellow plastic. Put steel wool into white vinegar and let it sit for some hours. Put the part/s into the solution for a day or so. Might be worth trying this with a few scrap parts of the same type of plastic so you can massage the process. Used a similar process on picture frames. Good luck. If it works it was my idea. 😛
