Excellent video again rob, got some useful info for an upcoming project from this so thanks. I wonder if you could help me with a problem I’ve got a made in Japan Marcus miller signature fender jazz bass that has what looks like a sadowsky preamp but there are no markings. The problem is each pickup on their own sound great and don’t have any noise but when the blend is in the centre position, both pickups 50/50 there is an audible buzz that lessens when I touch the strings, bridge etc What could this be?
There's a SBL video from 4 months ago called "Why the Jazz Bass CRUSHES everything" (red thumbnail with a different title like "secret tone" or something) which talks about a couple tricks you can enjoy with two different tone knobs - worth a watch for any jazz bass player
Oh yeah, I saw that! In fact on the weekend, I experimented a lot with turning down both volume controls a bit to roll off treble. With brand new strings, it was very bright. Actually in the video I forgot to say that in the afternoon before the gig, I cranked the action up a bit. I was worried that fret noise from such a bright and clanky bass that I wasn't used to, would be a bit annoying. By the 3rd set, I was pretty happy with the tone. Partly from tweaking my amp, using my boost only pre pedal (red one - there's a video about it), and also from my fingers getting used to the instrument. I will try to explain why the vol pots roll off treble like tone pots in a future video. Cheers!
Yeah for tech work/light duty they are ideal. Mine was a promo that came with two batteries, but I only recharge it every few weeks, so I needn't have bothered! The old Ozito heat guns are great too. I also use the dremel copy and extension flexible handpiece. Both pretty decent.
@RobMods I saw the PXC rotary tool the other day. Hadn't seen it before. It looked good. I've used the Drill Driver to build some vege gardens. It's awesome.
@shadowminister4090 mine works fine with the (genuine dremel) router base, but i've heard that the most recent ozito rotary tools dont. So if a router base was part of your thinking, maybe check.
Excited for the upcoming videos on the various plates and the wizardry that you come up with. 😁
You've gone to the Jazz darkside.
You'll be back soon....
Another superb vid, please keep these going!
Thanks mate. Was just handed two 70's P basses to set up! My P is never far away...
That's a great jazz
Yeah I look forward to more gigs with her for sure.
Excellent video….great work, and the finished product sounds great!
Thanks mate. I think those African timbers in the neck, plus that solid bridge help to give it a good focused tone.
Hi Rob. How do I get I'm touch with you? I have an Aria Pro II bass pickup that I'd like you to repair. Thanks 👍
nice sound..
Thanks mate. And thanks for watching through to the end!
Great work. How about adding series/parallel option?
That's definitely on the cards...

Great video showing real life use and instruction on how to do it yourself.
Thanks James. I'm glad you enjoy my stuff mate!

@@RobMods That will be great, because if you explain it, we will all “get it” 👍
Thanks Rob, for another great video.
Those Ozito drills are awesome, for the price, aren't they? Cheers - Rod
