  • Oloolua Forest, sometimes described as the Lungs of Nairobi, is an indigenous forest located at the foothills of the Ngongs.
    Friends of the Oloolua Forest are doing an incredible job raising awareness and funds for conservation efforts, with the aim of preserving the last fragment of this forest for generations to come.

    I left Oloolua in 2015 before the railway cut through. Leopard were sometimes seen in the early hours of the morning. I am glad to see the forest being cared for. Hopefully the wetlands can be restored to their former state without agriculturalists clearing and planting in them. The bird life was the best I had ever seen. Over 50 species!
