  • YES, IT HAS HEATED MIRROS, BUT I WAS TOO DUMB TO FIND THE SWITCH. I'M USED TO MAZDA'S SOLUTION - HEATED BACK WINDOW+MIRROS, WHEREAS VAG CARS HAVE A SEPARATE SWITCH.
Skoda Superb 2020 received some hand-down tech from Volkswagen. It also has the largest boot in its class. And an umbrella. And some blankets for rear passengers. And an ice-scraper.

I have a pre-facelift 220PS Superb Combi and after nearly 5 years I am still thrilled with it. On my commute I get between 6 and 7 l/100km depending on traffic. The ride is very good (I have the active suspension option) and it is insanely quiet. I was surprised by Marek's comments. And the massive load capacity for family or cargo is second to none. Also the sound system (I have the Canton option) is absolutely suitable for hi-fi freaks like me. The design is more attractive IMHO than the Passat and it says a lot that its designer was poached by BMW. I am very happy with my Superb especially at the price I paid (imported in parallel from Poland) and would not change. All the best, Rob in Switzerland

Apparently the noise as shown here was from the DSG.
I drove a Superb Scout with the same engine a couple of years later, and it was indeed Superb (except for DSG overheating, when I was driving down from the Alps trying to engine-brake).

I've had my L&K 2L tsi 220 for just over 3 years (10k miles) as at Feb.2020. It is very serene when driving, something which encouraged me to buy it. The car has heated wing mirrors as standard at this level of spec. All round careful driving gives 33 mpg but at 65 mph on longer drives fully loaded this Golf GTi engine can achieve 46mpg. Nowhere near the 70 mpg achieved by my previous Skoda 150bhp 2L Tdi, but hey, who wants a rattly diesel these days?! No rattles, no squeaks, no problems with the Superb. Canton sound system is excellent. Lovely car. Why buy the very pricey Audi A6? In many respects it's the same car. Badge snobbery is expensive.

I’m on my second Superb exec SEL 2.0 diesel exec 190, it’s a working car and covers around 100k miles annually. I keep them for 3 years and offload to local taxi companies who run them for a few more years.
Sometimes I can physically be in the vehicle for around 15 plus hours a day, in and around London plus a combination of long distance as well. These cars are bullet proof, keep them serviced they will never let you down.
Skoda needs to address the following points on this revamp: the old model’s bi Xeon headlamps have a dip beam cut off which is to low, even if it’s adjusted to its maximum setting by the dealer. The front seat begins to really sag at the 150k mark, the ECG valve acts up if you idle the engine too much in traffic. DSG can snatch at low speed but you learn how to treat it to avoid that.
I know these cars inside out Skoda beats them all on affordability, build quality, reliability. The noise levels can be high but you can reduce that with decent tyres. By the time I move them on they still don’t rattle and drive tightly, that noise on the cobbles is not typical there is a fault with the press car.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but this one is just wrong. I had a Passat before my Superb and there is no comparison. The Superb is just better in every way - apart from the badge! I am in the process of buying another car at the moment and I could have had a Passat or Arteon - in the end and after looking at a range of other possibilities, I am going to buy another Skoda Superb. You would have to pay substantially more money to get all the same features as you would on the Superb. The real question then is this - given 3 sets of keys on the table, which set would you take if the money was not an issue? My answer is very easy - take the Superb every time. Why would I do that? Ultimately, in addition to the overwhelming economics of the deal that you get so much more for the same price with a Superb than the other two, there is one other overriding factor - comfort. The so-called posh Nappa leather seats on both the Arteon and the Passat are disappointingly poor if you are a big person. They have metal bracing struts running through them at the edges, whereas the Superb's seats are wider and have no metal bracing. For long journeys, which I do all the time, there is no comparison - the Superb is substantially more comfortable and so much easier on your back side. In the past, it was undoubtedly true that VW effectively prevented Skoda from producing better cars than theirs and Skoda was held in a category below VW. That day is long gone and Skoda go toe-to-toe with VW, despite being part of the same group. They take the best of VW and tweak it to be better still. The 'Simply Clever' description is just so accurate - they do so many things that bit better than VW now (just look at how much better Skoda do cruise control for example). This review is simply incorrect - do not listen to the voices!

I have 2017 top model (280 bhp l&k), the roads are average-good in Israel (worse than europe), it sure is not as quiet as a mercedes or a bmw, the longest non stop journey i had was a 400 km drive which included highways, some in-town and some almost b roads. I can't say I felt any discomfort, neither did my passenger. Didnt feel tired after a 5-6 hour drive as well.
Toy-wise i feel like it is not a 'young' car - you have the sense that the function and practicality come together with the thought of putting all skoda can into the top model. It is not trying to excite you as it is trying to give you all the options you might think of, as an example:
    A. you get a paddle shift + stick operated manual settings which can be replaceable.
    B. You get at least 2 different ways of controlling ac (hardkeys, softkeys)
    C. You get at least 3 different ways to control music, phone and so on (for example you can switch songs from the fastkey on the steering wheel, you can use the toggle on the other side of the wheel while audio is your chosen menu or you can use the multimedia touch screen.
The examples go on and on, and for me as a 30 year old this is more important than the excitement of toys.
The looks - absolutely subjective point. I like the fact that it is not trying too hard, nothing gives out the fact that im driving an almost 300 bhp 4*4 5.6 sec 0-100km/h monster. This is why i prefer it to sportline. Only those who know will recognise the 4*4 badge on the back, 19 inch wheels and the l&k side badge. Although being as powerful as an s3 or cupra/golf r it is grown up and does not make it dramatic: im sure plenty of 20 yolds will prefer the noisy cupra or golf r, by the age of 30 you all will be annoyed by the noises it makes, believe me.
Performance-wise it is not a sports car. Yes it does standstill to 100 in 5.6 or so seconds, yes you can corner insanely fast, but you get the feeling that the car does not want to do this. It is a serious car and it does not want you driving it with clown shoes. Still, find an empty parking lot, turn the traction control to sport and it will bring quite a smile even if being driven by a 20 year old.
Price-wise in Israel it is quite expensive, yet still compared to vw passat (which imo is just dull whatever the complectation might be), audi, small mercs and so on is the best value for money, without quite giving up any kit or performance.

That with incidental driving for the day was just over 200km and it was only just on the first marker after full on the fuel gauge. I love that kind of fuel economy, especially for here in Australia. Everything is spread out even in the city. The price was good too. I bought the ex demo model from the dealership and they graciously gave me an extra discount for my work. Ice scraper is there for a reason that you might be unaware of but even older Superbs have heated mirrors so not sure what are you talking about.
Also have you ever heard a Mercedes or BMW arriving to a client on rocks and stones like in the video? I have heard them and they make the same sound but on other hand I have no idea who would be arriving to a client who has an entrance road like that.
Saying Laurint and Klement version is putting this car into Artheon territory in terms of price is ridiculous. Placing Superb in a recycle bin of VW group clearly suggests this review is biased as hell. There is road noise and then there is road noise. I have recorded (or at least heard) many cars on cobble stones, and none of them made sounds like this.
However as my viewers pointed out in the Polish version of this review, this is not the suspension sound, but DSG rattle. Apparently quite common with a certain DSG type, and VW says "it's not a bug, it's a feature". Apparently they can't tighten something more, or it would break.

Nice review. Since April this year I also drive a VW recycle bin Skoda Superb :-) Mine has 1.6 TDI with 7 speed DSG in Ambition trim level. After discount it cost 29.950€, with all the safety options and a glass sunroof. Full size spare wheel included, that's a rarerity these days (not in the break version, only sedan) Average consumption 5L/100km.
I have to disagree on the cabin noise, in my opinion it's quiet. The lane assist is a joke, it is indeed not good. Before this Superb is drove a 2014 Superb 2 with a 1.6 TDI and manual transmission. The Superb 2 build quality was better, more solid, build like a tank. And despite it's design was older, the fuel consumtion was 4L/100km. In the current Superb the glove box compartment and door bins are smaller to, and the overall build quality feels more flimsy. Major selling point is the ballroom size back seat and boot. Greeting from Belgium and Merry Christmas.

Drivers seat has now become a bit uncomfortable, and the headlights aim is to low (adjusts automatically on start up bi Xeon) and doesn’t compete with LED’s. It does have something Skoda calls "Top Matrix LED". Basically it cuts out part of the beam so as not to blind oncoming traffic. I've seen more elegant implementations, but as it's a Skoda it has that as standard from Ambition trim upwards, and it looks upmarket.

For instance there is 190 BHP superb but the torque is not 320 but 400 Nm. Also 7.7 sec 0-100 is for the DSG version. Not to mention the rest of the data. There is also 2 liter diesel of Mondeo with 180BHP available.....Insignia diesel is in 1.6 or 2.0 but no 1.5. There is 1.5 in gasoline version....aaah. :)

Great review as always by Marek. Shows the good and bad unbiased. I remember when he was reviewing the new Polo he mentioned some wind noise from the door mirrors over 120 km/h, which I objected at first from my short experience but have to admit after having the car for almost 2 years now. On another note that silly suspension noise on the Superb over cobblestones reminds me exactly my Polo, which is fitted with the electronic dampers (not the adaptive ones) and lowered chassis over same kind of pavement, that clunking metallic noise is irritating although my Polo sits on 17 inch 215/45 tyres. Didn't have the same when I tested the 16 inch wheel Polo with standard suspension.

I have a 2018 Superb L&K 2.0 190KM diesel engine 4x4 drive with full options with and the only thing I find frustraiting is the noise. But it is not the road noise but the wind noise after I go faster than 150 km/h. The car is great it has a premium feel and I like it by far more then a new BMW 5 or X3 in the same price table. L&K had different standard options depending on time of productions. So mine had double glass windows for the car to be more quit.
I don't know what Marek expected out of a skoda but in the price table of my skoda I didn't see anything more worth the money.
