In a real sense banter aside. Both cars and drivers will be in the same traffic jam in the UK. Germany I tested a journey from munic to Stuttgart. Some parts of the trip 260 (155mph) are possible but overall only ~20 mins drive time difference. Faster is more fun though even for ~20 quid difference in fuel costs. The point though is that any twat can drive fast on an autobahn. You always get idiots with more HP flashing to pass for their mobile dick extensions, to amusingly sit next to them after reality settled in and the y hit the brakes for the traffic they didn't see ahead because the dick was unfortunate engineered into the forehead. So 680PS or 240 the realisation of real world use sets in and that is the wake up call for morons with money to burn.

Skoda have excelent quality of production, even better than vw. In CZ we have machinery past from 1918 till today. Skoda is one of oldest car factory on the world.

I work for Skoda and have to say that the engine is awesome in that car and great value for money, 13.4 second quarter for a luxury saloon is more than acceptable, 280 horse power and you would never know just by looking at it, the 245ps petrol Octavia VRS which is advertised as the fastest Skoda would be left looking silly by that superb, really mint car and the fastest car Skoda has ever made
the superb will win a drag race thanks to the AWD system, but from say 40 m/h and up the octavia will win. i think its due to the lighter weight of the vrs

2 seconds is a huge difference, because the last 2 seconds are done at the highest speed, clearing the most distance.

AAJAA5 you’d be surprised how premium and well built a superb sportline or laurin klement feels. Of course it won’t compare to the Bmw in this video, but the Skoda in this same video has alcantara and leather everywhere, and the plastic is soft touch and feels very good. Either of the premium superbs cost less then 50k euros and they are filled with gadgets and features.

Owned a 2016 Skoda Superb TDI... What a fantastic car for the money, it's just as good if not better than any other car in its class.
Apart from the colour of the Skoda, it is a seriously decent car, to be driven long distances in. It is very light too! Even in 280 PS form it has good fuel consumption and can match a Golf GTI for straight line performance.

I've owned my BMW 335 I for more than 13 yrs , my wife has owned a yeti 4+4 for 9 and its the most reliable car we've ever owned , believe me the 7 will be in the garage far more than the superb , I still love the bm but the yeti is absolutely brilliant.

Once drove in a top of the line superb. Gotta say it was very luxurious. Legroom like a 7 series, nice leather and atmosphere. If you're living in a cheaper country and can afford a driver, it's an awesome low profile limousine.

As a skoda octavia owner ive driven the superb for about 3000km. Its one of the best cars ive driven. Comfortable and fast af. Compared to other cars in the similar range. Top speed a little under 270kmh. Space and looks great. I fell in love with the car. And the price is very good.
270 kph gps? I dont think so. Its real 250 kph with the normal VW AG spedo deviation. BMW und Merc show more realistic Speeds.

ive driven the Skoda Superb L&K 208hp on the speedometer I had 259kmh I know it could keep going. The speedometers also don't show the exact value right? -3 kmh I think? but I know it goes over 250
My brother in law has got the former model. It's a very impressive car, with huge space and great engine. Of course, it won't satisfy the snobs.

For the vibration test the instrument (too bad it’s a phone though) really should be placed either on the seat or the floor, and not on the armrest where the varying padding, etc may play a critical role. Same goes to the sound test (should be held afloat near ear level where it matters).

What Skoda has done during the past 7-8 years is really impressive. I hope that they will do even better and stronger engines to pair the German rivals, but for now they are lack in that department.
Have a look at the Seat brand too. About 20 years ago the VAG threw a lot of money at the Skoda brand to get them up to speed as a VAG brand and it paid off hugely. Apparently Seat are getting similar investment for the past few years, and Seat seem to be allowed to raid more of the Audi parts bin than Skoda as well as being targeted at more sporty drivers to begin with. The last Seat Exeo for example was the previous Audi A4 (They literally shipped the Audi assembly line from Germany to Spain) with a new front and rear and the chonic understeering issues in the chassis fixed...
Germans are no rivals to Skoda. Skoda is practically a German car manufacturer now (VW)... And after the release of Superb, the Germans downed a quality of Skodas a bit, because for the money it was much better than the German sedans in this class.
I think super rich people and titans of industry would rather cut costs by firing people rather than downgrading to a Skoda.
I would like to see Peugeot 508 against BMW 5 , Audi 6 or Merc E class.

Driving a 2015 Superb 3,6vr6 and having ordered a 280bhp TSI L&K i can say : tooooo much. Even as a Haldex 4x4 a Superb stays basically a fwd car which understeers as hell beeing to fast in the corners. 300-350 bhp are more than enough for this car ... having fun with that kind of power needs a rwd or rear biased 4x4.
