    08:24 - Conclusion
Wix and Squarespace are the two most popular website builders- together they have 55% of the market. I recommend Squarespace over Wix but it's important to understand the differences- and that's what this video will explain.
Squarespace vs Wix is almost like Mac vs PC: Squarespace is curated and intuitive like a Mac and Wix is occasionally chaotic but allows for a lot of freedom to customize. Kind of like a PC.
    - Squarespace's structured editor is much more stable- you may prefer Wix's unstructured editor but just keep in mind some of the problems it creates.
    - Wix has more features but Squarespace tends to do a better job of features.
    - Squarespace has better templates and template customization.
    - Squarespace has the cheapest plan- but not by that much, just $12 a year.
It's worth mentioning that this all doesn't mean Wix is bad. My recommendation is more about how good Squarespace is- because there are plenty of worst website builder options than Wix. Seriously, much worst. Ultimately the difference could be about preference.

Never seen a comparison video so clean and clear. And that is THE most helpful one amongst many that in the end, you could finally choose. (Unlike others that just throws you into another level of analysis paralysis because you are still confused).

I appreciate how much thought, clarity, and precision you put into your video. I was on the fence, but now think that Squarespace is best choice. I'm puzzled as to which templates are best for fiction authors. It's tough because Squarespace doesn't differentiate for us writerly types. Suggestions appreciated. Thank you for this video.

This video is very biased lol. Clearly he loves square space waaay more. It's like - this is why square space is better not - herr is a comparison... I love Wix. But if you don't have an eye for design then maybe square space is the safer choice. The Wix templates are very pretty aswell.

*You obviously haven't spent much time researching Wix properly. If you want to have a structured style website like Squarespace, you use the Wix ADI. If you want fully customization, you can use Wix Editor. If you want a responsive modern website, checkout the new Wix Editor X (For Pro designers). Squrespace doesnt allow for code, whereas Wix does with Wix Corvid. Very biased review. How much did Squarespace pay you? Obviously, if you look at the amount of websites by the graph you showed **0:02** , Wix is certainly the best.*

May I suggest an update to this video. (as a result your review sounds biased against wix and not objective) Wix has many of the features that you say it does not have now, I'm new to the development so maybe it didn't have these features back then. I think updating your analysis and comparison today will be great and valuable content for your viewers.

I have worked with Wix before and agree with what you are saying, I have experienced it. More freedom but not as guided as say Shopify which I am now on. However, I am looking at moving to Wix again or tying Square Space because Artwork Archive (artist inventory program) integrates with these websites now. The biggest takeaway comparison that I did not hear you mention was that Wix does not work with apple products (ipad/phone) only PC - which is very limiting. You made my decision to at least give Square Space a try! Thanks :) NOTE: LINK IS NOT WORKING let me know how to assure you get credit for the referral.

Even though wix is an unstructured editor, if you start with Wix ADI and then move to custom builder, you start structured and then move to customisation. I prefer this to Squarespace because of the adaptive suggestions based on who you are or what your business is. That, coupled with the nice Wix apps, makes me feel more in control and more like a power user. Maybe that's also why I prefer pc :P

  • @GaudiaCertaminisGaming

I’ve had a couple of Squarespace websites for years, but I'm in the process of moving both to Wix. The main reason being that even the cheapest Wix plan will allow you to put Adsense on you pages but you have to go for a business plan on Squarespace and it’s significantly more expensive. I also think most of the Squarespace templates are very samey and all have a cloying ‘hipster' vibe to them. I'll miss Squarespace for a few reasons, but not many.

    Great video!
I have a problem. As far as I can see there's no way on Wix to give users the ability to update data that they submitted previously. For example to edit a brief resume or just to change their address. Seems like an elementary requirement to me, which is why I never thought to check it out before I signed up with them.
This is an absolute MUST on the site I'm developing. I've done quite a bit of work and now I'm worried it's been wasted. Is there any hack to get Wix to do this? If not, does Squarespace or any other tool allow you to?

Quicke note: you never compared nor made mention of their mobile translations (aside from Wix' editing inconsistency) and how they compare. Is there any concern with how either translates desktop to mobile, or are they both so consistent that it wasn't a prime talking point?

    • @Carolina-rd3gh

I personally prefer Wix since you can start from scratch and aren’t as dependent on their themes and aesthetic, unlike Squarespace which makes the websites made on the platform look pretty similar and not unique.
I also prefer Wix since I find it more intuitive and it actually takes less clicks than SquareSpace unlike what he shows in the video (he handpicks on the few instances where stuff is quicker to do in SquareSpace - the restaurant menu).
In SquareSpace to update a simple heading you have to go to a side menu, replace the text and save it and only then you will see the preview update your changes; in Wix all of that happens in real time and by pressing anywhere you can change everything, while SquareSpace you can to dig through menus to edit certain parts of your website.
If you have no clue about how to make a website look great on your own and project your own aesthetic then go with SquareSpace. If you want to be creative and know what you want to do choose Wix powerful tools.
