  • In this episode, I take a Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo edition for a spin. This car has a 1.0TSI 110bhp petrol engine with plenty of sporty trim stuck on for added fun factor.
With this special edition of the Fabia being on sale for just over €21,000, it's a lot of (little) car for the money.

I had a 2014 year mk2 1.2 TSi for five years from 2018 to 2023. Monte Carlo black tech edition estate in white. Brilliant car in many ways. I've now got a mk3 1.0 3 cylinder estate which is slightly more powerful and quite a bit more fuel efficient. With the 1.2 TSi is was managing mid 50s and sometimes over 60 mpg. With the 1.0 I've seen 73 mpg on a similar run. It really likes running at low revs, that 3 cylinder engine has a subsonic sound to it when you do that. It's also amazing how much you can pack into the back of these cars.
Having a key to start it is a good thing. What does a keyless system give you that's any better?
    Having a handbrake is good.
Having manually controlled air con is good. I'm happy with all these things.

Nobby, thank you for the Clip Tip at 3:01, so am "Leaving You A Comment" as you say!
Mine's a 2013 edition in exactly the same "Diablo" colours as this!
Now does anyone know why it has a "Media" socket on the passenger side shelf? Had mine 4yrs & not a scooby what it's for?

Maybe it's a rally reference? Skoda have had a fair bit of success there and in motorsport in general. *edit* never really got the whole "Monte Carlo" cache myself. Maybe in the 40's and 50's, but I found it an awful kip of a place. About the best things going for it are the roads into it and out of it and it's so tiny a "country" you can blink and miss it. Thankfully.

Had a 2012 monte Carlo Black edition , 1.6 turbo diesel Remapped to 140 hp , not phenomenal i hear you say but 220 ft/lbs of torque made it quite a force on the road and would definitely try to pull your head off if you let it.
Unfortunately had to let it go because the wife wanted a focus 1.5 ecoboost turbo.... Which blew up after 3 year of ownership . Enough said.

Hi Nobby, loved the vid. Quick question could I fit 1 large and 3 medium suitcases in the boot? Or if there are 2 people in the back is there space for suitcase/hand luggage?

If you took out the parcel shelf. You’d probably get a small Ryanair size cabin bag between two people in the boot. The new Fabia has a bigger boot if that’s an option.

I’m wondering is this car a sports car or is it classed as a hatchback?

It's classified as a shopping trolley mate

That's what I found super weird in new Polo and Seat ibiza and now this. Those aircon dials!?!? It's just looks super cheap. To make it worse previous models of Polo and oboza had it more modern!

I don't get whar you are talking about. For 200 more euros you get dual zone automatic climate control. Don't be so cheap, get the option

Hey nobby.... the Monte Carlo fabia has been out since 2011.... it's not really a new model.... although the older cars were more than just a styling exercise like the new ones

    0 to 60? Or 0 to 100kph? I'm presume you meant 0 to 100 kph...

The Parkers guide gives a 0 - 60mph time of 9s approximately. Not bad for a relatively low powered car.
