Port Elizabeth (2023), renamed in 2019 as Gqeberha is a coastal city in South Africa. It is part of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality in the Eastern Cape Region.The Baakens River flows through the city. Port Elizabeth is located on the Algoa Bay of the Eastern Cape. It is a popular tourist resort as the climate is pleasant year-round and there are many blue-flag beaches. Port Elizabeth has a population of approximately 1 million citizens and 1.2 million live in the metropolitan area. Some highlights are the Market Square with the City Hall, the Baakens River, the Algoa Bay with the blu-flag beaches.
