They cannot leave until they find their cap. I was raised that way and it is a form of respect. Always Ma'am and Sir. I think its wonderful!
My Dad always wore a ball cap farming. He had a nail in the trim on a door jam by his corner of the mantle. He took his cap off and hung it on the nail every time he came in the house.

I think its real cool to see a few ranchers coming in and taken off there hats when they sit and eat. My uncle would take his hat off when he came in from ranching when sat for dinner or supper. So did my aunt if she was out working with my uncle and there son my cousin. They would all take there hats off before they sat to eat. They lived in Montana.😊❤
I was raised in the inland northwest of Washington state. Mama taught us all , 4 boys and me the one girl. My brother's broke horses and rode in the local rodeos. They bucked hay to make money and help out neighbors. We all had moral direction thanks to our mom. She was a wonderful leader to us all. In my mid 50s now and my brother's and i are still close after 35 years without our mom. We are all respectful, kind and helpful to other's. Thanks to moms for giving us moral compass. ❤

Also some items are never to be on tables or counter tops. Those are hats, shoes, socks, and one that was just a mom rule, used auto parts projects and tools.
When I was in Texas years ago-I couldn’t get over how polite all the Texas men ( cowboys )were. They call you Mam no matter your age, opened doors etc…I am from the North (Ohio) and it’s just different down south. I loved Texas.
I applaud those young men, very well raised, I think hats need to come off at the table and when visiting
Lester, even though you don't consider yourself a real life cowboy, you really are.🤠
I’m in Georgia and most men take their hats off. Some younger men don’t do it, but my dad does it for sure.
Hats off shouts Resect. That’s what America is misses. Respect for each other. We are all born different yet came from the same place. American needs to watch y’all.
