how sad to watch this now.
I love how open he was about this kind of stuff. love you always reck
It's strange but at the same time I loved him for it. I could never relate so hard to someone and it gave me so much comfort to see someone with the same struggles.
im proud for reckful and greek, it’s so nice to see them enjoying life again
With your name I guess not everyone can, unfortunately.

How did Greek lose so much weight. That's pure dedication

I once saw two deaf people arguing about just attempting to murder someone at a psych ward and I was just there for a panic attack
So you understand sign language?
I deal with anxiety too and for a short while with depression, the only time I was worried about getting admitted was because of depression. But I'm still dealing with severe anxiety 6 years later and its absolute hell.

@@MrMowky Actually it probably was! I'm currently suicidal as well and my main reason for not TELLING A SINGLE SOUL is because of the fucking hell you go through in America when you admit to being suicidal. Fuck this country up the FUCKING ASSHOLE. It's time for you fucking simpleton conservatives to drain the brainwashing from your systems or go off yourselves as a group so this country can finally heal and care for its people instead of $$$.

You can't leave until we want you to. By the way we're charging you $900 a day.
What a great business strategy
just get better then if you cant pay
It definitely is a great business strategy lmao. But how sad is it that peoples health is a business strategy.
If you actually believe this.. wow lol..
boomsauceify it’s true. A close friend of mine went through a very similar situation. They make it insanely difficult to get released before you’re medically cleared.
Well caring for someone under such conditions isn't free. It may seem a bit high which it is but that's why I'm glad I live in Canada.
RIP. Thankyou for talking about those terrible places.
I've had multiple family members go to the psych ward on a few occasions, and I would visit them frequently... Reckful is spot on in his description. It really is jaw dropping, especially the first time I went there.
My brother is locked in a mental hospital ward right now for trying to hang himself yesterday. I've gone to visit 2 times, there's people walking around with major mental issues. They take away all the bags/shoe laces/anything they could use to harm themselves so its almost like a jail. They sleep in rooms with beds on the floor, my brother has 2 roommates. I think they try to put similarly minded people in rooms and really dangerous people alone. But its quite an experience, extremely stressful. My brother said they came to take his blood at 3am, to check for any imbalances that could be contributing to his depression. Not a great place to end up.
sad hope he get's better :/
Hope he's feeling better
Hey man. Hope your brother is doing better. Take care man, tell him we all want him around.
When greek said "even when he will be 90 years old..." goddamnit...
same fuck
Yeah, he won't... :
Yeah I just heard it and it hit me like a freight train. I still just can't believe it

The problem with 7:25 is how dead-on this sentiment is. If you have been to one, you will do anything in your power, whether that be bottling up all your feelings, lying to your therapist --- anything, to not have to go back there.
so you will do anything not to go back there? like not try to kill yourself? so it worked? lol
@@cicada3357 Not exactly. Mental health professionals operate via legal precedents, corporate policies, and last but certainly not least: money.
You give them money when you pick up your drugs, you give them money the second after your therapy session is over, etc.
So, in this way, you can begin to understand that when people involuntarily hospitalize you, they're sort of trapping you into this system for a length of time, which rewards them in turn.
Everybody benefits! Except the mental health patient.
Your parents rest easy knowing you're safe but you'll never have that luxury because you have to deal with this bigass mess now, and long story short if I'm being real:
If you try to kys,
Make sure you want to,
And you better damn go through with it
Otherwise you're stuck here, with, in my case, a severely disadvantaged and uphill battle of a life.

This is true guys. Same happened to my mom... Mental hospitals are fckng dumb. there is people that been there for years in the worst conditions you can imagine, they make you take a lot of pills that will make you feel sick all the time. Anyway, just wanted to speak about it, hope you guys are ok, stay safe, never give up.
I was sent to one several times as a kid because of violent outbursts. I was 12 years old, they gave me a narcotic classed drug and said "take this and youll go home" i took it and i passed out and woke up locked in a room. Idk what they gave me maybe benzo or some shit. Anyways, screw them they dont help, and in all fairness they cut into peoples brains not too long ago, ppl dont seem to know shit about mental health im afraid
It’s kind of like jail.
happy reckful :D
The psych ward feels terrible b/c you don't know when you're gonna get out.
It happened to me too. At the ER
I was locked up in a room for a whole night all because I was suicidal. They did not care for me at all I was in a room with someone who had much worse issues than I did. I think she had schizophrenia. The girl would watch me sleep and she would say random stuff to herself. Also spirituality stuff with her hands. Than one hour one of the nurses came in and told her how i wanted to leave this is not good for me and such than she laughed saying "u did this to urself" i hope she gets fired!! I was sitting there crying and such and she and the other people didnt care. I was in there because my mind was racing with intrusive thoughts. If u go to the ER and say that ur suicidal expect to be locked away because apparently it "helps" people. I would cry all night and all they did was ignore me pretending I wasn't there. The next morning they sent me to a mental hospital 40 minutes away. Was there for 3 days. I will never go through that again. The mental hospital atleast treated me way better than the ER did.
can you imagine carrying a backpack everywhere with your clone in the backpack. Thats insane. Crazy progress for greek.

In Poland there's been a scandal, because a man was kept in a mental hospital and drugged against his will for about 10 years or so. The doctors would constantly say he was insane, but in the end it turned out he had actually been fine all the time. I don't really remember the details, but I think the hospital was in Rybnik if anyone is curious.
Dude, I had just started eating when you said the period thing, it kinda put me off my food lol
my brother is in and out the hospital alot with his bipolar disorder can confirm that mental health treatment needs improvement for sure but because we dont have alot of money it doesnt really cost him anything for treatment. also there have been alot of really good documentaries on the subject.

I have been sectioned (put in a mental hospital) 3 times in the past, and they do keep some patients in for a verrry long time. my first and second were 8 months apart and there were still 3 people in from the first time. I can go into more details if you'd like.
Surely do
We would like to know more please.
So there were 3 schizophrenics that were kept there for a very long time, one tried to escape as the roof was quite low next to the fence.. he ended up falling into the more secure unit, quite funny but also dark. One guy had a jesus complex and had really bad anger issues.. one of my friends from school was also locked up in a ward and his parents kept him in there for a year. he never recovered. His schizoprenia was due to abuse of Weed and psychadelics.. it's sad as the person he was before i'll never be able to speak to again. I was also in there for drug induced psychosis and was seeing aura's around people, threatening to kill myself. i think in total i have 5 quite bad attempts on my life overdosing, hanging. was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. It's been a hell of a ride the past 10 years.
The drugs people were kept on, mainly onlanzapine for the really ill people is just mind mindbogglingly torturous to watch.
I got 6 stitches from a student and it cost me 1600 without insurance. And the hospital took an hour to even get me in a room.
I went through tthe exact same thing at 24. Same type of building I stayed for two days.
Hearing Reckful talk about how they wouldn't let him leave keeps reminding me of Daredevil lol. Sorry you had to go through that but atleast on the bright side of things it gave you a new appreciation for freedom.
I think you mean Iron Fist? Couldn't stop thinking about Iron Fist, especially when he mentioned the guy in a straitjacket - oddly a lot of parallels between Reckful's story & the series itself
@@FrostyyAstro True, it was Iron Fist. Been a while since I watched the shows so I got mixed up lol. And yeah the similarities between the two are definitely there, I feel bad for those who find themselves in similar situations as Byron did. I couldn't imagine what it's like to go somewhere to try to help yourself and then get held hostage for $900 a day, ridiculous.
always free reckful😊
Ive had the same thing happen to me. He's not lying.
The timing on this upload is weird to me, because I just got out of the psych ward last week. All of the things you said are 100% true. I was there roughly half a month and I owe something around 15,000 dollars. They even had a judge come in to sign that I couldn't leave. I was there because I'm depressed, but I never even tried to commit suicide. That place kinda fucked me up and I'm having trouble leaving the house. Being out is great, but moving forward with life is hard right now. Love you, Reckful.
Dude what the actual fuck?? Can you not sue them? On a note that they caused you trauma?
Stay strong brother...
I seriously doubt I could sue. They made me sign so many papers. I'm just happy to be out, but I'm still living with a lot of trauma.
You're not telling the truth about something. They wouldn't keep you 15 days if you're "just depressed". For that, they would keep you the minimum amount (3 days). You must have actually attempted, or said/did something about harming someone else. A judge wouldn't be involved otherwise...
I was brought into the medical unit because I was in diabetic ketoacidosis. They claimed I wasn't taking care of my diabetes because of my depression, so they basically evaluated I was I danger to myself.
"he'll be 90 and he'll remember what the price of" Oh jeez come on man.
I'm in a mental hospital right now.
19 year old Doomer is it fun?
@@velo836 its alright i mean i get to use my phone and the food is good, but there's a lot of schizophrenics that scream, hopefully I'll get out soon.
Weird. They don’t usually let you use your phone
19 year old Doomer good luck homie.
WTF they let you use your phone? I kinda dont believe you because of that. What are you in for?
The signing paper was a self commitment. Not doing so takes it to court and results in staying there much longer rip Byron
Absolutely wrong and the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Anyone can call and say Reck is suicidal and the cops will burst in like there are dugs, beat you to a pulp and put you in the back seat. There is such a thing as involuntary commitment with zero due process, and that is what actually happened. Holy crap, so aggravating to read this stuff. You dont even get basic mechanics of involuntary commitment; youre never gonna understand Recks mind set. EVER.
Title is just underpowered. FeelsOkayMan
if those things happen in mental hospital It doesnt seem to me that those people can be cured by that
90 years old :(
UK psych ward. The screamers are real. Also you might run into a sociopath (super obvious when someone is psycho/sociopathic). When I had my stay some nutjob is fighting the doctors 24/7 refusing treatment having to be strapped to his bed. Eventually he flips out throws hot water over someone and then is taken down by 5 staff . Some amazing people however, thanks Caroline for getting me through, hope you're doing well( Bipolar girl :( )
Yo, people shouldn't depend on what others think - but Greek - you're really likable - much love
Rip bro
I've been their.
here in Ireland if you earn less than X amount you get what's called a medical card, It covers 90% of any medication, surgeries or other procedures. Instead of paying full price for let's say 4 different medication every month I now pay €2.50 per medication, €10 for something that should probably cost €50 to €100. I had my appendix removed a few years ago and stayed in the hospital for a few days, didn't cost me a penny, I had bloods taken last week and all I had to pay was €10, without a medical card its €30. Doctor appointment? doesn't cost a cent on a medical card.
We have a lot of other issues in Ireland but our health and education is fairly solid in comparison to a lot of countries. I also got a new medication which costs €270 but for me, all I pay is €2.50 which I feel a bit guilty about but it's pretty important and I couldn't do without it.
Vanilla Gorilla we have that in the US too, i got a medical card. I only pay like 5 bucks for a medication that would otherwise cost me 100 bucks
I like the kiddies in chat arguing about the cost of healthcare in the US like they know anything at all.
I took my kids to have a regular checkup because I wasn't sure if they had an ear infection or not. I was in-between jobs and didn't have insurance at the time.
The Doc looked looked in their ears, took their temp, and listened to their heartbeat and then came to the conclusion that one of them had an ear infection, and the other didn't.
Reception charged me $150 at the desk ($75 each) and I thought "ok, yeah that makes sense since I don't have insurance for a co-pay" and then I forgot about it.
Cut to a month later, and I receive a bill for $660 for services for the Doc.
?????????????????
$400 a piece for the Doctor to LITERALLY look in their ears and take their temp, then write me a script for anti-biotics.
I know doctors want to be 'fancy', but the truth is they're just employing routine methods and old tech like any job, it's not that big a deal anymore. But they won't get real and at least acknowledge they need to start aligning prices with people's actual wages. Insurance, Medicare, and Big Pharma all work in tandem to fleece whatever they can. Some struggle and fund raise to pay, some never pay, it's just a terrible system but people are still in awe of the medical field I think. They won't question it
6:33 Yeah im just gonna throw my food away now LULW

I've worked as a BHT for the past 11 years. In my state (and I imagine many others), there are two different kinds of hospitals based on insurance: private and public hospitals. Private hospitals accept both private AND public insurance, such as blue cross blue shield, united healthcare, aetna, but also accept the state's public insurance in form of medicaid. Private hospitals are VOLUNTARY ONLY. Public hospitals are open to everybody, even people without insurance. This means they often have people who are chronically homeless, really bad into substance abuse, and/or psychotic. Public hospitals are the ONLY hospitals that accept INVOLUNTARY treatment. So if someone is suicidal and not wanting help (but still a risk to themselves), they are picked up by police and taken to a public hospital. The experience between a public or private mental health hospital is often night and day different. Even private hospitals sometimes have some people there that can be distressing to be around, but public mental health hospitals almost ALWAYS will
I guess I'm out of the loop. When was Reckful in a Psych Ward?
