  • Venerable Robina explains how we make ourselves miserable by the very way we unskillfully look for happiness and will show how to find real happiness. She explains what it means to "renounce this life" and that, as gloomy as it may sound, can be the key to real happiness.

I love how V Robina disseminates information in a no nonsense way. She brings high teachings to us mere mortals and meets us where we are so we can use and apply the teachings. Thank you so much!

I love reading the comments 😂 I think ven robina is hilarious! As my elderly neighbor said when she heard one of her talks “ This ain’t no bakery, she ain’t sprinkling sugar on nothin” .... basically, no need to talk sweet about our neurotic, delusional states of mind. Truth with a capital T.

She is really one of the best teachers. We need her to tell us the truth about our own defilements in this way to change in short time. Her quality shows what a good teacher can be! I have met many smiling and pleasant teachers but only the serious ones really holding the compassion for the students!

Yes Venerable Robina shows impatience sometimes, but please look closely. That impatience is directed towards the delusions in our mind, which cause us so much suffering. Her impatience is a wake up call. Patience is a virtue, but we should not have patience with what causes us to suffer. That is exactly the reason why she is my favorite Buddhist teacher.

Very well put. Personally, I don't fully view it as impatience as I think she is showing compassion and saving time by prompting folks to cut to the fucking chase. When people start to talk over her, I love how she puts a stop to that and gets the individual to get to the root of what they are saying so she can address their questions and concerns. She doesn't seem to need a long diatribe from anyone about a question when she knows where they are headed and what they mean. I think she just wants to clarify the point or question, enlighten people with the answer or suggested protocol to find solutions and help them move forward. I respect her for that. She is my favorite teacher and if I identified myself as religious or dealt in absolutes around any religion(s), I would declare myself a Buddhist. As Robina talks about Buddhism being a working hypothesis, I love that because I am all about that application. As far as practice, I partake in Buddhist practice and adhere to many beliefs and do my best to abide by the protocol such as the 5 precepts. Well, not #5 but I do my best. Thanks for posting this. I love The Venerable Robina's teachings as well as this canon or faction of Buddhism the most. I also believe in circumventing control which is what I do in society, with many other entities as well as in my own mind. Such as circumventing control over the thoughts that tell me to do destructive things, tell me I am depressed, anxious, sick of it all as well as partake in behaviors that are very unskilled & potentially disastrous to start doing again or in general. Realizing the emptiness of the inherent self is a beautiful thing I constantly try doing. Not there yet by a long shot. Doing my best. Relinquishing attachment and ego and helping others is gold. Thank you again for posting this excellent video. Cheers!!(A)

If you find a Buddhist teacher unappealing, it's best to walk away and leave them to their practice. In the long run, this helps both parties.

I feel that this relates to the mechanisms of interdependence and how the cultivation of thoughts and feelings of compassion essentially dissolve our self-centred states of mind.
It is indeed an amazing process.

Agreed indeed. And our "self- centered states of mind" is what causes all of our discomfort, discontent, and suffering. I'm so thankful that the Dharma found me, this "I" that thought it needed protection from all of "them". Such a terrible messy state this poor mind was in. My mind breathes more easily now, thinks more clearly, and my words and actions don't bite the heads off of others anymore. Wonderful.

Truly, the Dharma has become the most precious influence in my life since it found me.
Finding solace in the teachings and recognizing our reflection in its wisdom has such a profound effect on our being.
Teachers such as Robina are especially precious to me since she understands our fragmented Western minds with its complex ego and applies the Dharma with surgical precision to cut through the delusions of our dualistic perceptions.
      Marvellous!

Hi everyone, my name is Brooks, im a black male and I believe I have came into this Realm of consciousness to share compassion for the world. My question is during my quest to Reach Ultimate Enlightenment i have learned that , one must Detach from all worldly things. But how must one release from the Perceptions of ALL human experiences to reach a state of Nirvana ? Isn't it an exact desire to seek enlightnment? How must I let go of thoughts and lables if this means I must let go of the idea of reality? Which means Air isn't even permanent, i have to find a way to not want things of this reality, and still navigate through positive Attachments such as the positive thoughts My mind creates. I feel like this is either my reality?, Or Not My Reality? This can't be mines becauses "mines" would deem permanent, vs this world and its concepts of thoughts and information are merely processes of my Environment and understanding that there are Quadrillion of cells in my body! Which means Words are just an illusion and Suffering truly comes from Our minds ... Can someone elaborate with me please???!!!! How do I free myself from all Desire? And create a realm of reality in which my perception is my very own secrect world until I so choose to share the Dharma and turn the wheel of consciousness. This world we live in is a matrix..... Anything is possible pay attention to your mind! Meditate! And have no fear of MARA!!

Chill out. Do ordinary things. Simple things with love and humility. Find laughter, and joy. Be silly. It's in your heart relationships to yourself, others and the world where a genuine way of being offers itself to you. There is no secret world. Only secrets of the heart that is yet to open. Much love my brother. 😊

It's a Q&A session with time limitations. No place for long windy stories. I think she says enough. The rest is for people to figure out. You may even say she rushes with good intentions - If people don't learn to figure stuff on their own, they'll always need a guide and will never become 'their own therapists'. She's so intense because she loves what she does :) She's totally in her element.

Robina appears depressing and rude to you because she is shining a very bright light on your fears for yourself and your expectations of others. Perhaps you are at the beginning of your journey to understanding and that is ok. The more you listen without judging the outer package of a person the more you will hear. It's shocking and uncomfortable for all of us at the start to hear love, passion, anger, wants needs and fears come from attachment and we need to let go to achieve inner peace, we will cling and defend at every turn to hold on to what we feel we need and this is what keeps us in an eternal cycle of suffering. If you feel happy with your attachments that is awesome for you but if you still have questions in your mind, keep searching and listening and you will reach that next step of understanding :-) Robina punches holes in attachment because her compassion is so acute and deeply founded. Her no nonsence approach has driven my journey forward and I do indeed hear her.
