I recall the FFL arriving at Split port in Croatia in 1993; enroute by road to Sarajevo. We ran the port (British army). They were a very smart, fit looking bunch. I then saw, and this has stayed with me all these years, a corporal assault a private for a minor infraction of some sort on the quayside. He punched him in the face. He did so in front of the other men and us too. Clearly, this form of casual violence was deemed as entirely normal. Upon noticing that we had been watching, the corporal then ordered several men to carry out press ups (push ups) on the jetty; as if to impress us with his ‘toughness’. Very peculiar behaviour. However, I was to discover later, from a French officer of the regular army, that because of the low grade of volunteer to the FFL, the only way they could maintain discipline was by the use of casual violence as against reason.
I’m sure he is trying to somewhat whisper. You might want to watch another two hour interview with him where he was in a hospital in France and the French Foreign Police showed up because of these videos he made. It was a fascinating interview. Throw in that they are probably using their voice and yelling while training. Who knows. Maybe he is sick. Either way, he is one guy that takes total accountability for his actions. Doesn’t blame parents, teachers, friends, cops or the Navy. Refreshing to hear. As the vast majority of people don’t take accountability for their own actions/behavior. He sure does.
See any skinny FFL?…NCOs eats the same chow and that means something. The French eat differently and so do Germans. Still not bad food but never enough.
Kicked out of the SEALS for Steroid use and for multiple drunken assaults on civilians. Deserted the FFL less than a year before his contract is over. He's never completed a single task he's ever signed up for.
Bro we all got a past, and demons. A man the steps on the battlefield, or young soldiers (Sailors, Airman and Marines) who sign already do more than most, and it's no different w a foreign unit, so homie doing it twice and rising above, it's great!
Why is the voice so raspy, I wonder. Super fascinating story!!!!
I enjoyed your videos. Had to look up this because I missed it. Way to drive on respect Sir.

Very interesting story, thank you. And thank you for your service.
Scary. What kind of criminals are the French recruiting for that level of violence to be required???
