Believe it or not, War Thunder also has a spotting system like that in WoT. It's just that the game uses the vision of every player in your team, so it's extremely rare for a tank to not be rendered. Basically, if one person in your team spots an enemy, it will appear for everyone. If an enemy tank is hidden from literally everyone in your team, then it will not be rendered.
This is also what I believe causes the occasional invisible dead tanks glitch, because they were killed behind everyone's vision, and the tank's carcass just failed to load.

Range finder, bind it too something In your controls. On dash in the reticle is 200 meters, do the math from there.
