  • The University of Toronto recently introduced the first-ever Indigenous beaded stole to its convocation ceremonies. Created by artist Katie Longboat, the stole is worn by the Eagle Feather Bearer who leads the chancellor's procession into Convocation Hall.
    Longboat and Shannon Simpson, senior director of the Office of Indigenous Initiatives, explain how and why the stole was created, and the inspiration behind its design.
