I think the issue here is that we, as sociatal beings in general, tend to lose sight in natural beauty when we become to focused on the nature of beauty. So we tell people that their interests and inherent qualities are somehow less than when that is furthest from the truth.
You should show the class the video for Take on me. The singer (and the band) is Norwegian. Big eyes are seen as beautiful also in Norway, for men as for women. Despite having very small eyes, Morten was the dream of every young girl back then. He was adorable. Still is, 63 years old.
Ten years ago I lived & worked in South Korea .. At that time a majority of Korean woman high school seniirs were gifted plastic surgery for altering eye lid.
I thought it was a shame, it chafes their overall appearances and diminishes their Asian beauty. Koran’s are amazing beautiful people.
Why does everyone wany to look the same,Asian ladies- you are naturally beautiful ,dontvtry to look Caucasian or anything different than what you naturally are. Self confidence and kindness is true beauty x😊

All east asians want to look more white (bigger eyes, pale skin tone, and high nose etc.), trust me... it is a pretty common beauty standard. You dont live there. You would not understand. I personally think it is a fucked up standard tho...

To tell the truth, there is a tendency for single eyelids to be considered more attractive and appealing for Korean men, while double eyelids are often perceived as more beautiful for Korean women.
Exactly the standards women hold to each other is insane.
this is definitely not true. it’s very common for men here in korea (or at least in seoul) to say their 이상형 (ideal type) is a cute girl with 쌍꺼풀 (double eyelids). since the bigger eyes are considered cute, and the most common type korean men are into is 귀여운 여자들

Ahhh, now I get it. When I was teaching on Korea, the ladies that I worked with kept asking me if I had surgery on my eyelids. There were many things that I experienced that no one was able to explain to me.
That is epicanthic fold. The cosmetic surgeon has to create one for you.

Rinse your face with warm/hot water every morning and dry it with a clean rag. A good diet might help, but it's not necessary based on my clear face and very bad diet. I had bad acne for a short time, tried scrubs and stuff but it didn't work and i just started rinsing my face every morning and after a while my face cleared up and barely ever get pimples, the worst thing is blackheads on my nose but you can take a rag and pinch your nose to squeeze the crud out after rinsing your face. The main thing is consistency. Keep up with doing it or it will come back.
I learned that dandruff shampoo as face wash can help. It contains zinc and antibacterial agents. Seems nuts, but try it. I use it as body wash because im always outside and work on cars and bikes. I get irritation on my back and upper thighs from the oils.

I remember when I was a little girl I wanted to have eyes just like hers. I was 5 or 6 and I would try to use scotch tape to make my eyes look like Asian eyes. ❤
It's especially becoming more popular because of animation. It's like the Barbie syndrome.
Eyelid surgery is done for medical purpose as well. I’m a Korean and I have mono chubby eyelids(I’m not even overweighted). My eyelashes under thick eyelids poke my eyes, my forehead often hurts cause I keep raising my eyebrows to open eyes wide, and I can’t see upper part of my eyesight it’s annoying and I have this weird habit of lifting my head to see the front sight enough. It’s not that my eyelid muscles are weak but just that the lids are covering the sight, so the best option is to cut some skin off of my eyelids, which basically results in an eyelid surgery. I never thought to have one but as I grow older.. the problem gets worse🥲

Everybody wants what someone else has, and usually when they attain it they realize what they had originally was far better, and what they got wasn’t what they really wanted; it was a symbol taking the place of a far deeper need that they weren’t ready to acknowledge to themselves.
Yep, envy is a thing. But, eyes *are* beautiful. Windows to the soul. Women wear makeup everyday. Wanting plump lips or well-defined cheek bones doesn’t have anything to do with envy (what someone else has). It’s just about aspiring toward Being Beautiful.
@@HaveuseenmyjetpackIt's not envy for a lot of that stuff. It's biological. People generally aspire towards youth and health as it affects their level of acceptance and inclusion in society.
And inclusion in society historically, with our tribal nature, is vital for survival.
My wife's uncle had this surgery done. But he is Dutch, everybody else in his family has double eyelids except for him. As he got older it became a problem, it was interfering with his vision. So he got the eyelid surgery

Growing up, I always wanted slanted Asian eyes. Seeing that blepharoplasty is so common in those countries breaks my heart. You are beautiful with those eyes! Don't change them, your facial proportions are just right when you are born, changing too much with surgery makes people look strange and abnormal.

I'm 100% of European decent but i do have what people consider "asian eyes"
It's called an epicanthic fold.
For us this one lid eye or what you call it is beautiful. You don’t need that kind of surgery. European men are crazy with this one lid eye. I see it very beautiful as well.

when the US military began occupying south korea the surgery became popular because american men preferred korean woman to have ‘western eyes’. you can search it up there’s plenty of information on it.
before US military occupation in SK this surgery was not common nor popular. so you can blame the foreigners lol

it’s is a beauty standard here in korea. it’s so common that even parents will gift it to their children for middle or high school graduation. i know many friends that got it done at 16 or 17 (international age). seoul is the plastic surgery capital of the world anyway
@darcieking4307 Yes, I have seen that first hand when I was living there for over 2 years. Modifying oneself with unnatural methods is not a beauty standard, it is veiling your own insecurities. The Asian idol culture is absolutely disgusting and harmful.
