He's overlooking another category - the mascot. For instance, rabbits appear on chocolate packaging for Easter. Or simply something like Tony the Tiger on Frosted Flakes.
Surely the lion is the mascot? there's no lion carcass or bees inside and lions didn't make it nor are they the intended consumer.
what are frosted flakes, do you mean frosties? IMPOSTER
And the lion on a Lion Bar
You should watch the rest of the episode.
Yes, dont mess with Samson. Very astute biblical interpretation.
Honestly, that's a better homily on Samson than many preachers would give.
Don't mess with Samson ... unless you own a set of barber's clippers
I'm okay with a Bull in a Butchers shop, it's when it gets in your China Shop you want to start worrying...I'll get me coat
@Ross Bourne This show is my "Escape Goat" ;)
@Ross Bourne Great response, I wish I'd thought of that right from the gecko
Dad?
get daves too while your at it
You missed out that chicken feed usually comes in packets which have pictures of chickens on them. So chicken should be all 3.
Same for basically any farm animal. I was with him up until the Venn diagram.
@@GoikOShea But can you usually buy food for farm animals at a supermarket?
Couldn’t do that, because it would ruin the land of milk and honey joke
Nathan Gamble I’ve seen chicken feed in Pets at Home, and there stores - open to the public - that sell animal feed for other “livestock” animals. Plus there is Amazon, and EBay.
So apparently you've never seen a packet of goldfish food?
Couldn't ruin his land of milk and honey joke
I don't get it.
Is it some kind of idiom? He could not mean the book that google shows me, since ot came out just this year
I'd like to throw a spanner in the works by bringing up the fact that all animals that are under the 'what's inside the packet' lable are also under the 'intended consumer' lable because farm animal feed has the intended animal on them
Then why aren't there pictures of fatties on McDonalds packaging?
@@jacobturnerart because we don't eat fat people.
@@xionmitsuki5713 not with that attitude
I'm so clumsy I'm like a bowl in a butchers shop!
I was at this recording. Red n green jumper in front row😁 so happy to have this on CZcams as I don’t have a tv anymore!😐
I don't like how the riddle is translated in that version. A better way to phrase the riddle that I found is: "Out of the eater, something to eat. Out of the strong, something sweet."
Pretty neat that it rhymes in English despite being written in Hebrew.
I mean, it's still a shit riddle.
@@Gabu_ Almost as bad as "What's in my pocket?"
I never really considered how much animals were used to advertise products...I usually just buy them and consume them myself or let someone else....Love this show...BRING BACK MODERN LIFE IS GOODISH!!!!
I love when we get a surprise appearance from HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
moew
@@synaesthesia2010 HM, not HRH
HRH Queen Elizabeth II is Dave's cat. The cat that was put over the bull's face, in fact
@@pintpot Not in the case of Dave's cat.
Fish is in the middle as you see fish on pet fish food
Looking for this.
which also contains fish!
I want a pint of beef.
have a bovril
Don't we all
God I love this man ❤️❤️
Same
What an original way to get material for a new series.
6:43. Me with chickens 🤨 do they not realise people sell chicken feed with chickens on the packet? And egg yolk is for their embryos?? Other than that this video is great.
Fish exist in all categories too.
It's the television adverts that get me. I don't like to see my food singing and dancing.
thats why i stopped my cannibal run on Britains got talent
You did in fact miss out "Lion Bar" which is a chocolate with a lion on. Also what about Coco pops which has a monkey on. These break all your rules
what about Toblerone and the bear on the mountain?
@Fuckth eChineseGovt Have eaten many Lion Bars and never ever saw a lion LOL
About the lion bar: Its like kopi luwak but with chocolate.
he mentions mascots
Scuse me but how is fish not all 3 categories? They can be on a package where the fish is the food, they can be the providers of caviar but they also are quite often the image of fish food. And last time I checked, fish food is intended for the consumption of the fish that usually adorn the packaging.
No one's ever bought some milk for their cows (although this might be disputed), and no one's ever bought some honey for their bees.
That's because, as it was pointed out, we steal those products. We're not going to all that trouble just to give it back during what I can only imagine to be a sudden overwhelming wave of contrition.
That's incorrect.
@@peterclarke7240 The point was the packaging and neither cows or bees are the intended recipients of the milk or honey as they are very unlikely to be swayed by advertising
Damn I love him watched this first when I was ten
Surely you could buy fish food, so they belong in all 3 categories?
Fish food is made of fish
at 7:43 that was MEEEEEEEE!
Failed miserably with that baby food sold in Africa, with the picture of a baby on it.
I often go to my local butchers and ask for 2 pints of beef!
I worked with a woman whose uncle visited from the Ukraine in the nineties. He was very confused by cans with pictures of cats on them. He thought we ate cat because he couldn’t believe we would have special food for cats in cans. “Cats eat vermin. That’s why you have them”
What episode is this from?
You can generally tell by noting which shirt he's wearing and then comparing to the thumbnails on this playlist: czcams.com/play/PLbxEQNb2G3waPTarnhfJH6nuF0xeTOmwj.html
In this case, it's S4E5 (Nobody wants vom on their cheerios).
4:56 "Understand so far?"
"No."
Then he gets the first one wrong and Dave's surprised.
Lol
He isn't surprised though. He immediately replies with a joke.
Does this mean that coco pops contains monkeys, is made of monkeys or are made for monkeys?
we are monkeys, bam science
For the fish, what if it’s fish food, therefore it’s in all 3 DAVID!
Sampson's riddle is like a clue from 3 2 1!
Rabbit can be in all 3, I've had rabbit quite a lot
hey dave do you know sumone called josh
I think it might have been Clive James who did a piece on advertising around the world; several major western manufacturers had to change their product packaging for the Asian market so that there were no cherubic faces on the labels of their baby food because it sent entirely the wrong message of what went into it.
May contain tots...
Fish I think do eat fish
In Allentown, Derby, we had barbers next to the butchers.
I didn't understand why people thought it was funny/odd
With the rabbit it could hav been sweets for Eastern 😋
Not really how you'd use a Venn diagram but good clip nonetheless
It could have been a riddle on '3 2 1'.
Samson terrifies me.
What about mascots like cushelle, doesn’t have koala in it does it???
Presumably the message it's trying ton convey is that using Coushelle is like wiping your arse on a Koala.
There's the, probably apocryphal story of the can of meat with a child's picture on it which cannibals thought was canned children.
I got lamb in a butchers
Did you now? How fascinating.
Pigs are becoming pets more frequently, I think they are two category animals.
What about fish food???
Fish eat fish and fish eggs some times. My grandads old fish ate their own fish egg and outher little fish
he has a youtube channel called slogo
It can get worse than just the picture on the package.
Consider things like whale oil, cod liver oil, mink oil, olive oil, peanut oil, coconut oil, safflower oil, rapeseed/canola oil, sunflower oil, peanut oil, palm oil, soybean oil, corn oil, flaxseed oil, walnut oil, sesame oil, avocado oil and...
BABY OIL.
Granted, motor oil is also a bit of an outlier but the idea of getting oil out of a motor is notably less disturbing. I'm not sure what picture you'd use with the more appropriate name of ancient plankton oil. Some oil companies use pictures of dinosaurs which is roughly the right age but the wrong organism.Technically baby oil (and mineral oil, generally) is just another distillate of the same ancient plankton oil.
Fish go in all three categories: (1) fish dinner (2) fish food (3) caviar
Nesquik cereal. It looks like rabbit shit and there's a cartoon rabbit on the box, holding said shit on a spoon, looking at it intently. He made it, wants to eat it, and wants you to eat it while he watches.
Andrex has a puppy on it, And that's for wiping shit off your arse. (The bog roll, not the dog).
A mad cow at a butchers. Not the best marketing idea.
Don’t mess with Samsung? jk
It seems weird that he's looking at the camera instead of the audience.
@ncfclee plenty of tv shows have a studio audience but without as much direct to camera stuff.
Reading the autocue.
Ok but I don’t think anyone is going to the supermarket and buying a pint of skim milk for their cows or a bottle of honey for their bees.
This is like comedy for a class room of children.
I don't see it as stealing honey from bees. Its more like rent we charge them for letting them live in those nice white houses.
He should have said nesquick not raisins
So the title of my favourite album by Earth is the answer to a riddle from the bible...
we don't sell honey to bees or milk to cows, what's he on about?
...he didn’t say that? He said they make it for themselves, we just take it. So they’re the intended consumer
he's talking about package design and the intended consumer is what the package advertises that you'll feeding the stuff to when you buy it
Animal crackers?
So accordingly, animals like chicken and fish don't eat
Wow. That sounded so much like rambling but he had PowerPoint so he planned that $h!t... oh, and it was funny in a non-sequeitur kinda way.
It seems kind of odd that Dave, a vegan, would be discussing animal products in this way, although talk of stealing products from animals do suggest a vegan mindset.
An honest vegan would resign themselves to the fact that people eat meat. I've never met one though
It's not odd. Hes just not as in your face and militant as some of them. He knows how to communicate rather than just attempting to belittle anyone who's not vegan
You what?
Are you saying every vegan you've met (I'm guessing you've met a great many) is in denial about other people eating meat?
Or are you saying every vegan you've met is convinced that humans aren't designed to eat meat?
Sorry, just really confused. 😕
@@annother3350 An honest anti-racist would resign themselves to the fact that people are racist.
I never even knew he was vegan 🤷♂️ the internet says pescatarian.
What does it mean to be English?
Dave Gorman
Even for Dave this is a really weird little rant that doesn't really have any point. He sets out to establish some rules and then finds a load of exceptions. Not quite sure what he was going for here.
I think he just needed set up for the dead rotting lion carcass
You're ignoring the packages of dog meat which feature pictures of cute dogs. These are high end grocery items. (My ex-partner was almost caught out by this one). I dare say there might be packages of cat meat available in some places too.
Now you might say, "oh no, that's a different culture. I just meant 'in the UK'". Well, you might take a trip to a farm supplies store, and admire the pictures of various animals on food intended for their consumption. Many of these items are also found in hardware, pet supply and grocery stores. So hardly a peculiar foreign practice.
That brings us to pictures of rabbits on rabbit poison, rats and mice on rodent poison (and traps, etc). Also pictures of animals on non-food products intended for the care and/or killing of those same animals.
Snails.
Where do we place pictures of lambs on sacks of lamb formula made from milk 'stolen' from cattle? You might need another category for that.
And then there's pictures of fish on fish bait made from fish, intended to lure fish to a hook so that humans can eat them...
Probably the only animal that doesn't appear on both food for it and food made from it is the human. Baby food, yummy....
🤔 Bowl 🍚 in a China 🇨🇳 shop 🏪
Lyons have just ruined this bit by changing their logo.
Ah, you have no problem with someone spreading the word of the bible?
Leviticus 20/13 ES If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
Wait... wut?
Leviticus 20/9 "'Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death. Because they have cursed their father or mother, their blood will be on their own head."
Oh my, are you sure you have no problem with someone spreading the words of the bible?
Yes. Some parts of the bible are about as spreadable as frozen marmite.
