Wheel is singular, and doesn’t sound random if you say you’re going wheeling.

I like Jeff's rule that if the trick is made by everyone, then the original shooter gets a letter, to ramp up the difficulty.
About the name, I'm kind of thinking, like I think at least one other has mentioned, that the Onewheel name to describe all boards is going to stick like Rollerblade became a general term to describe all in-line skates.
That said, an idea could be playing off the words sole or solo.
Sole as in "one" wheel.
Definitions of sole...
Sole is being the only one of the kind; unsurpassed; unique; matchless.
Sole comes from the Latin solus, meaning "alone," and it can describe being the only one involved in something.
Sole is the undersurface of a person's foot.
So maybe possible names like...
Sole or Solo
SoleRoll or SoloRoll
SoleWheel or SoloWheel
SoleBoard or SoloBoard
SoleFlow or SoloFlow
None of these names sound general enough though, except maybe sole or solo, so I still like Onewheel better than any of these names.
The genius with the Onewheel name is it's general yet descriptive.

#KartWheel... It's simple... not only is the OneWheel based around a GoKart Tire, but the word CartWheel is a associated with what people might end up doing if they ignore PushBack. It's two syllables, simple, yet effective on multiple levels.

You guys should do a video on the differences between a Xr and a VESC, still kinda confused on how they differ and how much more potential a VESC has!

Ben Smither, the inventor of these boards, called it *Balancing One-Wheeled Scooter*. Engadget called it *one wheel balancing scooter*. That was back in 2007.... So neither did FM invent this thing, nor did they invent the name Onewheel really. The other issue FM faces is the fact that they had no competition (via very questionable patents) and naturally their brand became the generic term in the community. However, it is probably wise for the community to use alternatives like Shredwheel, Monoskate, Skatewheel, or even One Wheel with a gap (descriptive with reference to Smither).
Generic names for Onewheels/VESCs:
Float board
Power wheel
Power board
Glide board
Wheel board
Un-board (as in not boring)
Rollerblading still has this same naming issue 30 years later. So I think it's safe to say onewheelers will never resolve this.

I still think "Floating" works best. If you buy a new floater from FM or from Tony, it doesn't give credit to either company. The TFL branding is still valid as it would be no different than "the car life" for the auto industry. But float make sense "going for a float", "i need a new floater", "want to float to lunch?" Just makes sense to me
Doesn't the term 'floater' generally refer to a drowning victim found in the water?...

Hover Wheel, my mom calls it the onewheeler, and we go rolling(it’s best with a southern accent). The hover wheel thing came from my friend making fun of it a couple years ago, and I just embraced it.
I'd like to add this: MonoBoard(ing) is for onewheels and MonoWheel(ing) is for EUCs

I like terraboarding, keeps it like snowboarding.
Technically FM can very possibly lose their trademark on "onewheel" if it just keeps getting used exactly how it is being used. Similar case is "aspirin". A trademarked name can become generic, but a generic name can't be trademarked other than the styling of that word/logo.
But regardless I'm cool with a new name for it. Or we just all keep using it the same way we have and FM neglects to protect it, like they have already done.
To quote them directly from their pro division ORL requirements: "Race only Future Motion produced Onewheels". They are themselves calling them Onewheel even when they are not made by future motion.

@TheFloatLife maybe something like ATB(all terrain board), EATB(electric all terrain board), EHB(electric hover board). Not flashy, kinda lame and technical but just looking for a way to get away from Onewheel-ing. We all know we're floating regardless of what you call the board/sport.

eBoarding is pretty good. It's basic and not super creative but is accurate and fairly self explanatory. Onewheels aren't e-skates, more similar to snowboarding and electric snowboards aren't really a thing.

Yeah no, this is it for me, I love it. Can we please go with this. "Shred-Wheel" the hyphen is cool cause there is a board between the words. Shred reminds me of snowboarding which it rides in ways that remind me of 🏂, and I love that "wheel" is still in it. "Onewheel" is technically redundant as "wheel" is singular. This makes perfect sense. "I'm going to order a Float Wheel ADV as my next Shred-Wheel". That sounds right to me.
My roommate called them "snowwheelies" before she knew what they were, as they seem like an electric skateboard/snowboard hybrid.

Redwood to pacific to ER
I’m 6,2. 185 pounds and 50 years old.
I used to skateboard and have a longboard for the odd occasions at the beach. So I bought a Pint X, loads of pad, helmet etc.
On my second day I found the Redwood setting a little slow so changed to Pacific, which was amazing until I hit 14.2 MPH and was carving on the road. When suddenly, I was thrown from the board, tried to roll but hit my shoulder hard.
Luckily, I was wearing mounting biking pads, so I didn’t break anything, but my arm is in a sling with a torn AC while I type this.
I went back to the area that I came off at to try and trouble shoot. I had no pushback that I know of, but did find a spark plug on the road. Has anyone experienced anything like this stopping their board?
I told everyone that it was a skateboard injury as I didn’t want to give the OW a bad name. But I would love to know what I did wrong before I jump back on again. Which I will definitely be doing.
I’ve watched all the youtube vids. I’ve got fangs, fender etc. (although fangs were late so I didn’t have them on at the time.
I may also learn to ride right foot forward as I can roll better on my right.
Any help and knowledge would be appreciated.

I also fell the first day on my pint cause a piece of hard plastic on the road ( piece of car , plastic cover of direction indicater ( sorry for my English) this was in august 2021) Now 2 years later I just became 55 years old I geven more then 6000 km on my pint and about 7000 km on my GT I bought last year July and never something like this happened again. I guess I my wheel blocked by it and I nosedived as it was my first day. Now I don’t think I would fall over something like that or I would see it and drive next to it.
Ps: whit my pint I did also a few nosedives while carving and as I push for speed while I carve I also didn’t feel the pushback. On GT I never nosedived and drive much faster then they say what’s the maximum speed as it has more power I think. I don’t know about pint X as I have an OG pint and also ride pacific. Even having a GT now, I still love my pint, especially cause of the new hybrid floatlife tire I put on.( they are putting one on my GT to now)

I usually go down to the motor if I want to be specific. If it uses a FM hub call it a one wheel, Fungineers motor? Funwheel. Floatwheel motor? Floatwheel

I think we need to stop focusing on gettin onewheel changed and focus more on getting the future motion out of it. Its always gonna be a onewheel,anything else sounds wierd. Lets just stick with vesd onewheel. Noce game of float guys
So there are lots Automobile manufacturers out there, such as Chevy and Ford. Some of those manufacturers make sedans and some make pickup trucks, some even make both. Chevy and Ford each have both, one makes Silverado and Malibu, and the other makes rangers and mustangs. We could think of FM as Ford. If their "onewheel" series is equivalent of ford's "F" series of trucks than the F-350 is the GT. But we don't call all trucks F something, cause that's Ford specific. FM makes "onewheel" that is their product, as "float wheel" is "The Tony Corp." Also yes I made that last bit up. But point is we need something equivalent to call them. EUC is the type of vehicle it is, not a product line of one company. We need a "pickup truck" equivalent.
I don't like always like it but everyone that doesn't know what this is calls it a"bigwheel" that is the thing that makes us different from other eboards, ours has 1 big wheel compared to others 4 much smaller wheels.
