Great quality image. Is best superzoom
The camera has all the bells and whistles, excellent optics, BUT and it's a big but, the auto focus system is VERY unreliable at close range.
I shoot CZcams with a Nikon L820. It's an excellent camera except it does not have a mic jack, eye viewfinder, or flippy/floppy screen.
So I bought the FZ300. Optically very sharp, but only WHEN you use manual focus. My videos use macro extensively and the FZ is a nightmare when auto focus is used out to about three metres. It is variable with or without the macro setting, and regardless of the focus spot area.
So I still prefer the L820. Optically there is very little between them. The L820 has a rock solid reliable auto focus system. It's very rare for it to get confused.
The FZ is good for "talk to the camera" shots and has Android connect for remote control, which is very nice.
So is the FZ300 worth the money ? No. Not as it is.

@@mirajuddinkhan6870 Yes. A lot of the issue can be resolved by pressing and holding the button partway down before pressing all the way. This gives the autofocus system time to adjust correctly. You can't just press it all the way in one go as on most cameras. Cheers Rob

I bought this camera as a travel camera, and I have been very happy with it. The splash- and dust-proofing is important for outdoor use in many circumstances, and the weight is several hundred grams less than many of its competitors. The lens quality is excellent as I'd expect from Leica, and the constant aperture is a real benefit in lower light conditions. I agree with you that the menus and software are well-designed and easy to use, and the image and video quality are both very good for a camera of this type. For anyone who needs a camera that can produce good results in challenging outdoor conditions, the FZ300 is hard to beat.
I had many super zooms with 1.2/3 sensors. Not even one of them can compete with this camera in image quality, even in 2019. Constant f/2.8 at 600mm a super sharp Leica lens alone makes this camera the best in its class, very quiet lens compared to competitors that sound like motorbikes. Dust and water proof, very nice 4k, 100fps slow motion in HD.
And all this juice in a 4 year old camera.
Oh, I can agree - it's lens works suprisingly quiet. As far as image quality; yeah, depth of field is better, but sensor is too small to achieve FZ1000 image quality in my view.
@@MGalaxy I had fz1000, I had fz2000 too, trust me, the dynamic range and color tones of this tiny sensor are if not as same, almost as same as in those two cameras. And to say "silent"lens is not enough for it, it is tack sharp at f/2.8. I get decent raw images at iso800 (as long as the subjects in the scene are still), even at iso1600 (depending on lighting conditions) I can pull some juice out of raw files without loosing much detail and colors.

@@danielm978, hi. I use photoshop, but I'm sure it will work for you in lightroom. And yes, you"ll get better images from raw files, as long as you edit them properly. Never trust jpg.

I don't mean FZ300 is bad, there are simply other choices that I consider as better alternatives, but if it serves your purpose the best and you are happy; that's most important thing. I am glad you could get something from my review. I try to be as objective and honest as I can and I admitted for exampld that build quality, EVF arw the best in class.

This camera is a dealbreaker, overall great quality. I don't shoot movies so I can't tell about them quality, but photo quality is near to superb in good light conditions. It clearly struggles in poor light conditions (snowy / overcast weather, dusk), that means you have to use your creativity to get good shots (and that's what is all about, for some of us). And it has the tools to let you do that: good lens aperture values, focus & exposure lock, switchable enhanced resolution, RAW and much more... which means that for weeks you literally have to go through ALL them settings and STUDY what they do, the manual doesn't quite cover it all. Just stay clear of both extremes of the zoom, which is SOP for these types of camera.
Hi, can you tell me how you transfer photos and video to your computer with the supplied USB cable? The only cable I received was an AV/Out USB cable and all it did was transfer BMP files. I don't see a port for micro-USB. All my other cameras transfer just fine and are recognized.
Bought this camera six months after finally getting a Nikon 610D, full frame, to work with all my Nikon lenses. Why? I was tired of all the critics when photographing, indoor small concerts and specially theaters, because of the noise (mirror)!! Besides, previewing picture before shooting, speed up to 18000, macro down to 1cm, and articulated and touchable screen, are a game changer!
Also I had to carry about 3/4 kgs for a walking, and now, even with polarizing/ND filters, extra battery, is less than 1 kgs.When you walk for 8/12 kms, it makes a difference!
The lens range/quality is very good, (I tend not surpassing 500mm) stabilization is awesome, 4K filming is gorgeous, mainly when arriving home and watch live concerts in my Panasonic 4K tv!
The app is also very good (much better than Nikon) in controlling camera, importing files to iPad, etc..
For the price it costs actually, everyone should have one in the traveling bag!!! (all the money you save in lenses, cleaning them...)

Is it possible to use the FZ30 as a camcorder and film a series of shots as one video rather than use an editor afterwards to compile a video? Or another way does the record button have a pause function so that you can stop and start filming?

Hi, nice video. I recently bought this Panasonic fz300 camera. But I found on the lens, 3-4 mm from the edge of the lens, a scratch, about 1 mm, the thickness of a needle tip! Can it affect my photos or movies, are there other things like that? Thanks.
I just got a Panasonic Lumix FZ300 and I am wondering how to set it up for video recording.
By just not setting anything up in the camera and just pushing the red video record button, I have not managed to take one video without it being recorded in a very jerky fashion. Anything I try, the clips always show very jittery. Even resetting the camera didn't make a difference. I have tried it with the stabilization 'on' and 'off' - the clips are never smooth. I love the camera for still photography, no problem in that regard but, the video function is only frustrating so far. My old Canon D20 water camera is easy by comparison: just click the record button and it takes awesome stabilized videos. Can you give me a tip as to what to do to get my FZ300 to record jitter-free video ?
Can anyone guide me to a site where I can download some untouched, unprocessed, off the camera, original still sample images (JPG or RAW) of this camera, so I can edit and find if this is the right camera for me?

The Fz1000 is a clear winner in terms of Image quality: more contrast, less noise and more resolution, that is actually translated by its optics. So you have the same optical reach although it covers only 400mm at the long end. Still yet, it lacks some features the FZ300 offers: full articulating touch screen, weather sealing and Post-Focus - that can be used as a 4K-Focusbracket. You will be able to stack later those images on your computer for makrofotography. So the FZ300 lets you dive into very small areas combined with a Raynox DCR 150 lens as well. Of Course software and lense add up to the cost about 150$ (as it would for any camera aswell). The Fz80 got some updates to the Fz72, which i had. Touch yes, but no flippy screen and the Post-Focus/4K-Modes too. But the Fz300 is much more comfortable to use and has also a better Viewfinder. Especially you shoot smaller subjects like birds, flowers or insects, the f/2.8 will give you a more attractive out of focus depth of field. And it helps you to keep the 100-200 ISO at daytime. Take the Fz80 with its f/5.9 into the forest. If you spot anything interssting like a squirrel or bird on a tree in more shadowy area - good luck taking a picture at ISO 800 - it will look horrible on that cam. The Zoom range is impressive, but you often can not use it, whenever the direct sunlight is missing. Fz300 gives you much less frustration in that aspect. So in my opinion, the FZ300 is clearly much more premium compared to the alternatives with very small sensor and worth the slightly higher price tag - but still it seems a little bit to close to the FZ1000. FZ300 - 300$ would be a nice offer.

I understand your point very well, @@foxtrothawk7499. I started with an FZ72, moved along to a FZ1000 (which was a huge improvement in terms of Quality) and changed later to Micro Four Thirds Lumix G. Now i am switching back to the new FZ1000 ii (wich has finaly the same Featureset as the Fz300, but is 850€ instead of 370€) and for portraits ill take a Sony A6300 with some fast primes. Between that i tested although the FZ300 - so i know all those cameras. On the other hand, learing fotography is a journey and i am not even close to be an master....far away from that actually. I did enjoy my FZ72, as i did with all the other ones as well. Although the image quality might look a little bit laughable against expensive cameras, i respect them as i do with their users. But i learned very fast, that i wanted more flexbility and Image Quality for Croping into the pictures and more backgroundblur in certain situations. So i started to upgrade and selling the old stuff. The good thing about the FZ300 was: i used it for about three month, bought it at 400€ and sold it with 380€ - so there was not much of a financial loss for that experience.
@Mr W Hi Mr.W I have testet four 5 FZ1000 (two of them were the new Mark ii Model). Results: Two models of the older FZ1000s (Mark One) had a very noticable loss of sharpness and AF Accuracy at 400mm already in the center of the frame. They were simply unuseable at that range and stoping down did not show much improvement. My FZ300 was pretty sharp at 600mm and a fun camera to use - and still there was no advantage in terms of IQ at 600mm over the working FZ1000s. So if i hear your story about your FZ1000 and its behaviour, i get the impression, that you got one of those not so well optimized models. In this case i would simply go for a replacement. The FZ1000 HAS to be sharp at 400mm. It is ment to be a premium Bridge. And dont forget: The duel of the best moon camera is little bit out of every day scenario. The whenever you need to stop down or have more shadow, the better Sensor will outperform the FZ300s clearly in noise and dynamic range performance - but thats another topic. I think the FZ1000 - if the optics are working as suposed of course- is simply the better allrounder for a higher price tag.

I'm an FZ300 user too and it's a camera that really prepares you to do great things and puts you in a point of wanting to go further. I've chosen very carefully a camera for my low budget but i wanted acmes to some abilities and a multitask solution. I do more video and take some shoots too but most of the time i find myself in low-light situations for my kids activity (dance, stage events and so on). I have to say that FZ300 is amazing in performance for what it is a 1/2,3" small sensor. It even focus in low light very sharply.
But then there's some noise and not so clean image (above 800 everything has visibly noise)... and that's when i realize i need a better Lumix. Even FZ1000 or Fz2000 with only an 1" sensor is still not ideal to my needs so my bet is jump to MFT when it could be possible to me. Full frame would be the top but i cannot afford it or even afford buy those so expensive lenses. Micro Four Thirds amuses me a lot. Not so expensive but very much capable of much better image (in these days, as i've seen reviews from G9 with very similar performance to an APS-C camera). Maybe i will go to a G90/95 (i love the idea of a GH5) and the pic up some lenses.

5:43 Thank you very much for making this comparison. I'm absolutely gutted that the FZ80 doesn't have a port for an external microphone; I would've bought it in a heartbeat if it did. And the only reasons I was so interested in the FZ300 are that it has a port for an external mic and it's also significantly cheaper than the Canon EOS M50. And yeah, if we're hitting the €500 mark, then I'd buy an M50, not an FZ1000.

how is the lumix 2500 panasonic
Is this a good video camera to replace a Sony HDR-CX500 camcorder? I mainly will be taking videos of music theater performances and light photography. I mainly want to keep the price around $650 with accessories... extra battery(s), 256GB SD Card (rated 4 for 4k vid), etc. My biggest concern is the battery life while filming. Camcorder batteries will last over an hour while filming...would prefer not to be shifting battteries out mid act. Not an expert by any means.

I can agree with the final analysis, except one point. Weather resistant. I could actually get the FZ1000 which is far superior in a lot of categories, but it was not weather or dust resistant. For my purposes, I wanted a good video quality, but didn’t want to worry for that sudden rainstorm.
What does 1 / 2.3 mean? Is it a 1-inch sensor? (ccd)

If you want a 1" sensor or a MFT you have to spend a tiny bit more (which is fine) but they lack a feature that may be the reason to get an fz300: weather sealing.
There is no similarly priced camera with great image quality and weather sealing.

@SheepTrees And the lense-design is superiour aswell. Less problems with flares and flare characteristics are very differnt. More balanced sharpness, also usefull on the long end not like the much blurrier FZ80. F/2.8 is also helpfull to keep ISO in shadow outdoor areas low when zoomed in. ISO/Image quality on Fz80 becomes very quick problematic in such cases at much darker f/5.9. High MP counts are just to conufes customer especially at superzoom briges. 12 MP is more then enough if youre going for DIN A4 oder DIN A3. Articulating touch screen is a joy to use when you are shooting.

Is this a good beginner camera? Im 15 and need something for my photography class but my other camera isnt clear enough.
If you don't need zoom - I would consider buying APS-C mirrorless or DSLR. I would suggest Nikon D3500/D3400/D3300 or Sony a6000. It is way more superior choice for learning photography, you will have a chance to learn shooting with different lenses and you will get much, much better image quality.

If you don't care about the touchscreen and weather sealing, I'd recommend a fz1000 or some MFT camera from Panasonic

The lumix has a fixed lens that can not be taken off.

Consider at least fz1000/fz2000 if you are interesed in quality pictures.
You could consider Nikon D3500/D5500 with AF-P (almost silent) lens also. They should be much better than Canon.
The FZ1000 is 850 now and the fz300 is 450, would you still recommend the fz1000?

Thank you. If you mean TZ200/TZ202 then I would say it's in slightly different category of compact superzooms. Nevertheless it seems quite interesting. I would love to test it but having not so big channel make it difficult to get stuff for testing. 😉
@@MGalaxy Thanks, the 202 is simply the most compact 1" cam at least close to a superzoom, so I wonder about buying it, or an older one with 1/2.3" sensor of similar size. I need a good cam for hiking, biking, skiing, motorcycling, etc. So I need both good wide and good tele.
All I can tell you is that this 1" sensor will be for sure miles ahead of that 1/2.3" in terms of the image quality.
@@MGalaxy I believe, but if you shot a bird or a mountain peak in long distance cropping down the 1" image means also a big reduction.

I just bought an FZ300 with a rode video mic used for $225, which is a bargain in Australia. The camera sells for 700 plus here and the mic around 300. I would have bought an FZ80 that I found used for 200 but I wanted the mic input. Such a shame the FX80 never had one. They probably would have been the biggest selling camera on the market if they did. I haven't seen an FZ1000 used here, anywhere near the price I paid for the FZ300 with the mic. If I did I would have bought it. Overall I'm ecstatic for what the FZ300 does in 2023 for the money it cost me. It's in used but virtually brand new condition with a bag that holds the camera and the mic.

Hey, I would consider Lumix FZ1000 instead as I said in my review. It provides with better image quality. FZ300 is still 1/2.3" so not the best quality really.

No. Too little sensor. Maybe on higher focal lengths, but that doesnt seem smart. Consider some DSLR/M if you don't need zoom.

These definietly seems more reasonable. G7 is nice and has 4K. You could also consider Sony a6300 or Nikon D3500/D5500/D5600 if you want good 1080p.

The FZ300 is not good at all for indoor video unless you setup a lightning environment. It has serious ghosting issues when good lighting is missing and you push up the ISO. Ther are videos about this problem on the web - and the background blur will not be noticeable pronounced. Get at least Micro Four thirds or APS-C with a fast prime for that goal. Canon M50 or M6 have very good Dual Pixel Autofocus for Vlogging. Panasonics is a little slow, wobbly and not so reliable for that special purpose. It works faster in Full HD, still Canons M6/M50 is much faster and hits you on the spot. In 4K, Canon M has also a very weak AF at the moment - so if you prefer 4K you can go Panasonic aswell.
The fz80 does'nt even come close to the fz300 despite its higher pixel count. The constant 2.8 aperture lens is a very important feature in my opinion. For sure not a gimmick.
It's not a bad camera. It has some benefits, but statement; saying that FZ80 doesn't come close is veeery far-fetched. Both have same sensor size and probably same picture processing. Results are very similar to all superzooms that I've tested (Sony HX400, Nikon B700, NIkon P900, P1000). f./2.8 gives better depth of field, better abilities to zoom in worse lightning condition, but nothing more than that. Dynamic range, sharpness, depth, ISO performance are like in every other 1/2.3 sensor superzoom.
@@MGalaxy Maybe i exaggerated a bit but the fz300 has a much faster lens, a mike input for better sound recording when filming, an articulating screen, a better viewfinder, a weather resistant body and i believe a 5-axis stabilisation instead of a 3-axis one but i'm not shure of that. To me it's not only about picture quality. But sure you have a point when you say the small sensor has it limitations. The fz80 will produce noisier pictures because of the slower lens ( higher ISO ) even when zoomed in at 600mm, especilally in lower light conditions. It looks to me when you don't really need the 6O times zoom, the FZ300 is the better choice.
My FZ300 has Ghosting problems in 4K. Not in 1080p.

@@MGalaxy There is a lens adapter for this camera which can be used for filters etc, or there's the Panasonic DMW-LT55 which is a 1.7mm telephoto lens. Or you could add other aftermarket or some competitors products as well. There is also a (DMW-LC55) close-Up conversion lens too.
Most other reviewers say this is a great camera. They say it has very good Video and great image quality and very fast focus. No way can a Smart Phone with it's small flat lens that can't zoom take better pictures than a dedicated digital camera.
Just to say that both the FZ330/300 and the FZ82 are very good camera's but the main ingredient is a tripod and learn the camera settings I think that 4k video is were these camera's excel and when on a tripod the quality is very good, As for pictures you have to work harder to get the best quality from both camera's but it is achievable and i have got some lovely pictures with them and macro is great with these camera's Another thing is flexibility you have lens that can go from 20-1200 0n the FZ80/82 and 25-600 on the FZ300/330 this means you can shoot landscapes and get close to wildlife all with one camera but its important to get to know the camera and a tripod I have the G9 as well and love it but in the right hands these little camera's can do a great job and i use mine all the time.
What sd card do you advise to people who want to film a lot with this camera? And how Many GB?

Generally I would advise spending litlle bit more and getting Lumix FZ1000. If you don't have enough money and this FZ300 has all of the features you need - go for it!

Not the best option but it could get job done. If I was you I would consider Panasonic G80 or FZ1000.

If you are asking which one from 3 that I've showed then definietley FZ1000; better low light performance, depth of field and overall video quality. It's bigger though. ;)

The FZ300 has a mic jack meaning your audio can be much better with the option for external microphones. The FZ80 has no mic jack limiting the options for audio. The video quality from the FZ300 video is superb with lots of options for customizations. In the real world, you never need more than 10mp, and 12.1 is more than adequate. The FZ300 takes fantastic pictures yes in lower lite other cameras can be a little better with the camera only a small sensor and compared to the FZ200 its predecessor in low light the FZ300 performs a lot better! with around images at around the iso 400 to 800 after this, you do get a little nose coming to the pictures but nothing too shocking at ios 1600. The fz80 and fz1000 are not weather sealed and the fz1000 is very bulky compared to it,

the image quality of the fz80 on full zoom is very bad ! even zoomed out to only 600mm (half way) isnt very good at all in my opinion ! but the fz300 takes a very clear pic on full zoom if the lighting is good ! ive used the fz300 for over a year now and some of the pics it takes in good lighting conditions are outstanding for such a small sensor camera plus the lens is a remarkable piece of engineering!!! its almost an insult to compare the 2 cameras :)
Here is my Opinion on the FZ300….
We have to remember that superzoom typically will have a tiny sensor 1-2/3 so that the large lens focal range can fit into the body.
We have to sensible here, these devices aree not to be compared to an SLR/DSLR interchangeable camera system with much larger sensors / APS-C.
The whole purpose of these devices to the form factor, the ease of use, the grab and go and head out. The constant F2.8 is great if you use low ISO and use the mode in M. I currently use the FZ1000ii and with its larger 1” sensor it does do a better job in low light but the focal range is lower at 400mm.
(FYI - the human eye focal range is around 150mm or 6x with a 1” sensor with 4:3 aspect ratio and on the tiny 1-2/3 sensor it is higher still at 175mm equal distance.)

What none of these camera companies state is that if your eyesight is already at 150mm then you only get an additional 18x optical zoom over your eyes sight. The APS-C and Full Frame formats are much less than the superzoom Eye to Lens distance being much larger sensors, so the experts say. If you just try it out for yourself you will see through the LCD the actual distance you get, focal length, compared to your eyesight.

All in all this can be a great addition for your travel on the go if you know how to use the camera properly.

The F2.8 is a bright lens, for outdoor video an ND filter is recommended possibly ND-8 or ND-16 to cut down the bright light.
This camera is pricey at $500 even in 2024 but there are online sellers who are selling it for around $350 and that is worth it.

To the CZcamsr here, you can do a better job with your submission with a more descriptive review on focal ranges, FStops, exposures etc.
4k resolution does not automatically equal crisp videos with amazing quality. Two different things. Buyer beware. This camera, and many other 4k cameras, use a sensor that would fit right on the tip of your pinky finger. Micro sized sensors trying to do 4k is basically garbage. Always research the camera and the size of the sensor it comes with. Then buy a camera with the biggest sensor you can afford. Some people don't mind the quality trade-off with smaller sensors, but just be aware of what you are buying.

J’ai un FZ82 et un FZ300 et le FZ300 et bien meilleur malgré son capteur 12mp . Il a une ouverture constante de f2.8. Contrairement au FZ82 et à bien d’autres marques.

It's a good superzoom, but not the best camera. The images it produces an auto often have a lot of noise which makes the pictures taken indoors or at night unusable. But if its a bright and sunny day, it can really get some great shots. On manual things gets a bit better, (like on most cameras) but my a6000 crushes it. Also, even do the camera has 4k video, the quality is garbage (sorry, but it really isn't great)
On the other hand, the zoom makes it great for wildlife photography. And the zoom can give you some really nice shots.
If you can sacrifice image quality for zoom, buy it. But for me pictures that sometimes look worse than my phone isn't really worth €400, and therefore I bought a sony a6000. But it's still a great camera.

Considering that the FZ1000 is older than the FZ300, the FZ1000 does NOT have weather-sealing. The FZ300 IS weather-sealed - and according to others, responds FASTER than the FZ1000. Dunno about you, boyo, but the FZ300 edges the FZ1000. HOWEVER, your biggest mistake here is that you did not mention if the FZ1000 you're talking about is the MK I or the MK II - but either way, both MK I and MK II does NOT support weather sealing - so the FZ300 STILL edges them out in that department. For a weather-sealed bridge camera at about $400 USD after taxes, the FZ300 would be the overall better buy. As a "semi-pro" , if I don't know what rig to take with me on a spur of the moment where the weather or other something else may disagree with me, the FZ300 is a safe bet to lug around - no need to bring spare lenses and worry where to find a place to change lenses either. Also, spare batteries are easier to carry around than a bag full of glass that you have to swap - most especially if it suddenly rains and you got no place to swap lenses within reach.
@Mr W Either you didn't read what I wrote, or you didn't understand it. It does good enough as a backup camera - especially in situations you don't anticipate: RAIN or a dust storm. I've already been on some shoots when it suddenly started pouring - and there are some crazy dust storms out in Dubai every now and then - the 300 works just fine rain or shine or goddamn heat and snow. As for what you'd photograph in the rain, I can name a LOT depending on the themes - even out of the rain where water has a good chance of splashing on your camera. Park rides, themed photoshoots, etc. This is also basically a good student camera - easing them into DSLR/mirrorless with the amount of flexible controls it has without shocking them on the price tags of expensive glass that's worth MORE than the body itself. Again, large or small sensors don't make the photographer - it's how you approach a shoot with limitations/challenges or with none. Picture quality is well and good - but if you can't compose a shot, it's trash.

Can i ask what you'd recommend for someone who shoots photos of furniture (large) products inside homes and uses video to film parts of the build process of the pieces inside his garage? Dont care about zoom, but do like "blury background" depth of field, auto focus and something easy to use wold be nice
I think the reviewer of this amazing camera needs to soak his head in the toilet. I own 4 newest Dslrs in nikon and canon and olympus and some L lens for the caon and there is no way they can compare to the LECIA lens on this camera.

@@jlina You're welcome! :) I have a better rig these days, but my FZ300 is still my best fall-back camera for stills on spur-of-the-moment shoots in almost any weather. So even if I have newer gear, it's still a GREAT backup investment to bring along for quick snaps without having to prep and lose time doing so.
How can 2.8 be a gimmick? If it lowers the ISO, and it gives you a faster shutter speed for sport, animal photography, by letting more light in. Most sport and bird photography needs a long focal point, with 2.8, it helps. Plus better low noise by lowering the ISO. Nope, not a gimmick.
I called it kind of a gimmick, because sensor is very small and even at ISO 400/800 you will get huge degradation in quality. I just think that great sacrifice of zoom range is not worth it that much, if sensor was bigger then we can talk. Anyway camera is by far not the bad one. If some of you like this camera, go for it, that's only my opinion.
@@MGalaxy Hello again, I would rather have a sacrifice of zoom range with 2.8, than a longer zoom range with slower aperture. The FZ80/82 has a zoom of 1200mm, but with the sacrifice of a 5.9. You'll need a very high ISO and faster shutter speed to get any sharp results. The images will be useless because of the higher ISO you will need. Unless it's an extremely bright day. You'll have more keepers with 2.8. Sensor size has nothing to do with aperture. Any camera, with this sensor size, will have image noise at higher ISO, this has nothing to do with 2.8 aperture. I bought the FZ300/330 over the FZ8-/82 because it had a lot more going for it. Our opinions may differ, but as photographers, we can enjoy each others work at producing great photo's regardless of what camera or phone we use we all use. Happy Shooting :-)
@@PixelSplash999 Technically bigger sensor allows more light (f1.8 is different on APS-C and on FF) and so lower ISOs along with generally better ISO performance. That's why I would go with FZ1000 from those two - it may have f/4 at the end of focal length range, but quality and low-light perfomance will be step above the FZ300. Anyway FZ300 is cheaper and has more zoom than that so of course it all depends on needs! Happy shooting (especially 4K) with your FZ300! :)

FZ300 and FZ82 are very different cameras. both are far from perfect. FZ82 is better for pictures, video in 4K is useless after 700-800 mm because of waving and wobbling distortion of the footage. it have fixed display which is a huge minus. FZ300's 12mpx pictures are good but very small, video in 4K is far superior in details and stability vs FZ82. it have only 600 mm optical. the top zoom lever is defective from factory. It is a shame that these two are still the latest current models, they become obsolete and we need new successors. but it is clear why major manufacturers doesen't care about camcorders and superzoom compacts because if they made new better models then nobody will buy expensive mirrorless machines and lenses.
