Compilation : Asides besides (CD 2) Piste : 16 Année : 04.1998 Sortie single : 09.1988 (face B) *** Paroles : Mark HOLLIS Musique : Mark HOLLIS - Tim FRIESE-GREENE
Like many great works, I came to Talk Talk years after their disintegration. Unlike many great works, this band has changed my life and warped me into what I think is a better person. And like nothing else, it's shown me the true ethereal nature of beauty and suffering. Thanks Mark Hollis, and thanks Talk Talk, for raising the bar for music and art.
I heard life's what you make it ...on the radio I was hooked ever since I always walked past a theatre which did live music and I saw Talk Talk October 6 wow I rushed in buying a ticket 6 british pounds I never knew a single song but wow I bought everything they ever did afterwards even foreign imports cos they were huge in Holland Lots of rare pieces then vinyl disappeared Ashamededly I moved house and left them behind I wish I'd kept them now ..... This is up there as one of my favourites....
@@freedvonee512i I had my vinyls too and mistakenly borrowed them to a friend, never saw them again. It was more than 30 years ago, but today I have all the albums in CD’s, which some of them I keep two copies well wrapped. Talk Talk mightn’t be the best band in the world , but is my favorite ever.
I'm both ashamed and excited to say I love talk talk but... never heard this song before. Wow... It touches me and I feel how this is my first fresh connection. Before I only loved them. Now I am connected with them.

One of many great songs by Talk Talk that I'd never heard until hearing of Mark Hollis's untimely death. I was a fan way back when, but should've been much more of one. All I can say is, I'm listening again now, Mark. RIP.
This is the song that made me fall in love with Talk Talk. I feel like crying since the first time I listened to it. It's very touching, it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I admire and respect Mark Hollis and co. so much!
Even though we are all fans so many of us were asking for more from Mark Hollis. Then I started to feel that was selfish of us. He finished what he started- he was done - it was over - he obviously gave all that he wanted to and that needed to be respected.
The amazing thing about Talk Talk was, that listening to Spirit of Eden you realised it was ahead of its time. The first time I knew Talk Talk wasn't just a regular synth band was, when I heard 'My Foolish Friend' (1983).
Everytime I listening to it after some time I have to listen it about 10 times on almost FULL VOL++++++++ to feel it that much as I can. I love it! TALK TALK from then till always on My private top chart of bands. 80Rulez.
Esta banda estaba demasiado adelantada y por ende tristemente incomprendida. No fué muchos años después que fuimos llegando a ella, pero por desgracia, ella ya no estaba.
You know some records you can play constantly, till your duracels stop, well, i have been playing this song since before said Duracel where with us, used to drain Ever Ready's to this gem of a tune, its only a few times in our life we listen to something that intensely and want to hear it all our lives.
I love the way this sounds so live and spontaneous. You know, it wouldn't surprise me in the least, if in a few years, EMI give Spirit of Eden the classic album reissue treatment, with alternative and demo versions. Give it another ten years and they'll give it a Miles Davis Bitches Brew; The entire recording session style reissue.
This is a haunting track - is it not available on any album?? I'd buy it for this alone. Hollis has such a unique voice which still stands out today. Wish Talk Talk members could convince Mark to sing a few bars again. This is simply stunning.
you can hear that Noel Gallagher used the same sound of the guitar part for an oasis song that I cant think of title right now, talk talk very influential band and under rated !
how can you say Talk Talk were wasted on the 80s and 90s . The music that the band fed on right up to the 80s helped create their sound. That was their time. They were enjoyed by millions around the world from 81-91 as well as now.
I think this was from the early Spirit of Eden sessions. Definitely a bridge between Colour of Spring and Spirit of Eden. Percussion more in style of Spirit of Eden (jazzy, with the brushes), yet more melody-driven, in the style of Colour of Spring.
Beautiful song. No fancy tricks or effects. If a singer of the iPod generation covered this song today, they'd probably stick a rap in the middle of it.
We are a little community in here, to listening talk talk.
Not that little I think 😉
I don't have the words to describe how wonderful this song is. Mark Hollis, a true genius.
An absolute genius is what Mark is.
He becomes more special with each passing year.
Truly
I miss him being on this planet

You are not alone.
I’m 51 and this is a top 5, maybe 3, musical loss to me. Well, thankfully the music is here for eternity, but the artist, you know?....😢
Still hurting for him, .sorrow sorrow in a way I can't explain....
@Ross Duchess Me too. Two months gone and I'm still crying.
I still have his picture on my wall. A true genius.

Oh, Diana... you came in late, but you're part of the family. If only we could turn back time and change this horrible event.
Just an amazing soulful song.
one of their most timeless songs, RIP Mark Hollis
RIP Mark .."Died of life"..the party is not over ..no shame you impacted on everyone who understood the music and composition ..very sad you left us

Another Mark Hollis haunting masterpiece.
Haunting, thats the word that describes Mark's unique voice....!
What more can we say about the man. He may be gone but the music remains.

I bought the very first edition and this track was on it.... much loved

I absolutely will be having Hollis deliver my out song. Just not sure which one yet.
I don't manage to not love everything. Another stunning song.
Speechless!

its about time mark hollis/talk talk were in the music hall of fame
These guys could just drop things on the floor and create a masterpiece. its ridiculous.
Beautiful and touching. Thank you, Mark
Great song from a great musician. Rest in Peace Mark Hollis.
Cheers!
This wonderful composition.........one of the greatest pieces of music to hit my ears WAS a "B" side!!!,....HO HO Ho, that's funny...
Talk talk is the Best!!
RIP Mark, I believe in you!
Awe.
We lost a genius, such a shame.....a true master

Sandy Hendry agree, always longing for that part
Sandy Hendry I thought I was alone! Yeah, absolutely perfect placement.

Ooo that still makes me go all "boogie woogie" every time I hear it.
id never heard this till i found it on youtube...
stunning track,
This was a B-side to a single. A B-side!!!!
In the 80s a lot of b sides are masterpieces
Yeah, its unbelievable...such a masterpiece
B-Sides are always better

I believe that the recordings are gone sadly. Hollis reportedly destroyed all or most of it after the album was done.
