Join us as we set foot on the whitest sandy beaches, explore abandoned streets of houses and eat some bloody good Roti. The fact that Elayna is very empathetic is one of the great blessings of her overall personality. The percentage of people who are truly empathetic I bet is below 20% of the population. It's a quality of character that is greatly to be admired. I'm sure it's one of the reasons why so many of your followers have fallen in love with Elayna. It's obvious that she is a good person at heart. The fact that you Riley recognise that quality in Elayna and compliment her publicly says something good about you Riley. Lot's of male partners are completely blinding to the best qualities in their partners and those that do often fail to compliment them. I agree Riley, there are no perfect spots. The high tide can crash your beach, the sun can burn your eyes, and the water can run dry. Perfect moments however, can come along, like strolling down the beautiful beach, waves underfoot, sun on your shoulders, with your mates, drinking in the endless vista.

Empathy can be a beautiful trait but it can, if not kept in check (i.e. rationalised) be counter productive. With you becoming parents soon, knowing when to make light of your babies little hurts or using distraction, is much better for a child than having them focus too much on their little sufferings. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not suggesting one just dismisses when a child is hurting. It's figuring out how much attention to give it, and how to teach children how to cope with the inevitable upsets. Okay, that's enough opinion from _Aunty Anna_ except to say, "get a bloody hat and sunglasses Riley".

I can feel your dichotomy Riley. It is akin to the travelers who all want to go somewhere "before it is ruined by the tourists" but in the process they lead the way for others to ruin it. In the same way, you seek the company of those who seek solitude.
Been watching from the start and the more I get to understand you two, the more I adore you both. Elayna, you are a very special soul. These short glimpses into your lives is truly a blessing for me. Thank you both!
Pterygium. I had it removed recently. Itâs a scarring of the surface layer of the eye due to UV damage. Tend to get it on the inside of the eyes because the light reflects off the bridge of the nose. Itâs just cosmetic until it starts growing over the dark part and affecting the vision. Sunglasses and eye drops will slow the scarring growth down. But eventually will need to get it removed right before it starts affecting your vision.

I read a comment on a previous episode asking why this channel is so popular. Pretty much the guy was saying there are so many you tube channels featuring beautiful women in bikinis in tropical places, whats special about them... that empathy is one of the reason people are in love with this couple.
It's easy for an attractive person to set up a camera an show how awesome their life is. Sure other channels maybe nice to other people, but its the compassion for others and their charm that sets these 2 people apart from everyone else.

You must wear SUNGLASSES at all times. Protect your beautiful eyes. Wind, sun, salt water, dust, etc, can cause some people to have a pterygium. I live in Florida and I spend a lot of time outdoors so I developed a pterygium. You should see an ophthalmologist. Ask your computer to pronounce pterygium, It sounds nothing like the way it is written.

I'm sad to see Anguilla so devastated. I built a computer school there for the children and had my center console 42' boat there for 7 years. I haven't been back in years, with all life has thrown at me, but I wish them all a quick recovery.

Awesome video as usual guys. Riley, I think that we as guys can learn a lot from our significant others about taking care of ourselves. I think that when you have an adventurous soul as a guy the tempting thing to do is to take on sort of a âroughing itâ kind of mentality wherein things like sunglasses and sunscreen and things like that we sort of frown upon. Which there is certainly merit to not wanting to seem too âHollywoodâ or over the top. BUT at the same time Iâve learned that there are things which do keep us safe that we can take advantage of (that many times our girls already do), so itâs kind of important that we learn from them as much as teach them because they need us to be there in the long run. You guys are incredible and I envy the crap out of your willingness to change the course of your lives and go on an adventure (Rileyâs my hero in that regard, as Iâm here when he was working on the oil rigs that he never dreamed that his life would be as awesome as it is). But yeah, Love you guysâ spirits and wish you the best of luck in everything that you do and will do. âđœ
Being an empath can be emotionally exhausting though meditation and self care are important if youâre an empath.. the world needs more Elaynas! â€ïžâ€ïž

She is an empath. I am, too. This is why there is a need to limit our exposure to other people. I've been like this since I was 2 years old. I was 9 when I first saw the movie "Charly, Flowers for Algernon" and I couldn't stop bawling for about 5 hours afterwards(finally cried myself to sleep at about 2-3AM !). For weeks just thinking about the movie made me cry. I can feel the emotional energy of anyone that I am in close proximity. Being in public is very difficult, especially large crowds. I used to be able to tune some of it out ! Now, frankly, it is becoming more difficult to tune out so I have basically become a hermit by choice.
I would love to see you two do a road trip to some of the out of the way places of the USA, of which there are plenty. You both have a unique perspective on life and I love looking at the world through your eyes(videos). God speed on your journey, where ever it may take you!

Anguilla is where us St. Maarteners' go to "get away" from the Touristas.It's truly beautiful and so are the people.Sundays are very hectic with half of SXM in Shoal Bay,I like it in mid week in the off-Season.

The "extra skin" on his eye is called a pterygium. It happens mainly with excessive UV exposure. But, can also occur in very dry, dusty or windy conditions. Quite common for people who live in desert regions or have professions which take them outdoors a lot, like farming, or I guess in your case, sailing. It can continue to grow to the point where it will cover part of the cornea and can lead to vision problems if not addressed. It is easily treated with excision. The earlier the better. Once it infiltrates the cornea the excision becomes more difficult and risky. Cheers!

Riley you are a deep thinker and great observer and I love hearing you take on the big questions of the world. It was very moving to hear you compliment Elayna's empathy and it was clear that you understood how it affects her. Not all men have that insight and not all men speak it so I think it is good to see examples of how we can compliment our SO's. It is hard to be an empath as you can feel the pain in others and the world and even feel the energy in trees and houses and things that others don't notice. On the other hand you can see all the beauty and the goodness and take it all into your soul. Namaste you two!

Riley, you are one extraordinarily fortunate fellow.
Getting out in sunshine is all well and good for the whole body. We even absorb vitamins from the sunlight. On a white sand beach however and especially on a boat the glare can be very hard on the eyes. Riley needs a good pair of polarized glasses for sure..
Good point Riley. She has alot of empathy for others. Rare find in a mate. I work alot in the sun doing HVAC work in Austin, TX and I wear dark photogray prescription glasses that have saved my eyes. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get some good sunglasses that block UV and will save your eyes in the future. My night vision is like I am 40 years younger. Still execellent. I can walk with people way younger and see things they can't at night. Keep up the great videoing. I think that wiper cam is a great idea. Great place to mount it and get a wide view inside while driving.
Those hurricanes have such force. In Cozamel I saw 6" reinforced concrete broken up and tossed 30 feet. That takes hydraulic pressed to break that stuff. I think a 12" reinforced concrete wall with a curved shape and wave breakers may work to protect a house. Just watched the Army corp of Engineers finishing up that seawall outside new orleans. As I sit on a couch with a broken Ankle I love seeing your adventures and can't wait for my spain trip and a carribean cruise. Your video is a breath of fresh air. Thanks
That first Bar that you were at is called Dad's Bar and it just burned down in a fire on July 18th. Darvin the owner, and his girlfriend are beautiful people but this has just been devastating for them. They have gone through a lot with the hurricane and now this. I remember sailing up to the anchorage direct from Annapolis, coming ashore to go to a grocery, asking in there for a taxi, and Darvin offering his car for free after knowing me for 5 minutes.

Sometimes being a Empath can be a burden, Though I do believe that is what makes a good Human a great Human being able to feel others pain so that you may help in relieving it.

Empath is the term I believe you are looking for...
When I first heard the term, I poo-pooed it... until I realized that is a label that I might accept to define my ability to go beyond true connection, sympathy and even empathy to a state where I am feeling what that person feels...
For those who feel the same, they'll get it in an instant... For those who don't, it's one of those things that can't be explained...
I have 2 daughters and one has the same trait.
I feel it's a wonderful trait if we are also able to protect ourselves from taking on other people's emotions (especially, pain).
If we can't though, it can mess with our mind and heart.
I'm a very reluctant "woo-woo" person, yet I believe that some of us have the ability to connect with others and feel what they feel... and then help in whatever way "they" are asking for help... be it verbal or not.
Again, totally impossible to explain...
Congratulations Riley, youâve just described an empath or a highly sensitive person. There is a lot of information about HSPâs on the Internet, I recommend work by Elaine Aron to understand more. Their sensitivity is hardwired in. No amount of âhelpâ from others will make them change. Some HSPâs can feel an argument in a room long after the arguing parties have gone. Their sensitivity can be amazing to notice.

I totally understand the empathetic trait, Elayna. It is a good trait, especially in today's world, but it can also really wear the empath down. I'm extremely empathetic, & absorbing everyone's emotions is both a learning experience and a bit of a burden. There are some great books and blogs about empathy.

Hey guys, a big thank you!! Watching your videos has re ignited my fire :). After facing my own mortality on several occasions (i have heart disease and have undergone open heart surgery twice now). I was beginning to get stuck in a rut, thinking that my life was going downhill, i had begun to get totally disillusioned :(. I have been inspired to take up sailing and am already starting to dream of an independent lifestyle that reconnects me to this world that we inhabit. Well done and thanks again.

Whenever I have my 'food memories' I always remember Antigua for my best Roti and Anguilla for the best Conch chowder. Though, that Roti looked everything!! Ive been blessed, through work/travel, to have sailed to many of the places you visit. I love strolling down memory lane with you and catching glimpses of familiar anchorages, beaches, hikes, dives, paths. As always, great video!

1:03 "ten points... for gryffindor" ah... ya got me with that one Elayna, had just finished reading master 7 and miss 9 another chapter of the first book, and flicked to the end and read that winning announcement while they were brushing teeth, then retired to get my fix of slv in what has become a ritual over the last two months. Had to pause the video to share the coincidence. First comment. Flick between current posts and your older stuff, love the super high quality and flow now, and the joy and adventure of the old episodes. Know a bloke just like Riley so he felt like a best mate from first watch. Laughed at "and all my mum's friends watch", from your week-in-the-life recently, can picture them all sitting around with a glass of wine and cheese and bickies to watch the latest and out-critique each other. My mum and her mates sure would. Anyway, stop coming out with straight faced lines that interrupt my immersion ;-) back to the vid...
(Edit) - Riley don't worry much about how you sound with the philosophical or touching moments mate, anyone who has watched more than one of your vids has worked out that it's not possible for either of you to be other than completely genuine in your delivery. The occasional honest monologue is.. you, and a big part of the appeal. Along with your determination and crazy work ethic of both of you.
Yes Riles the inquisitive minds will wonder around to unlikely places but we also have the urge to share our experiences so we live in a constant state of trying to find our equilibrium.
