- Finally getting the 2007 Subaru WRX STI onto the rollers, As always our man Josh Bader from Bader Built Is tuning the car. The overall goal for this 2007 STI was to make it a perfect streetcar that I could beat without too much worry. The power goal was between 380-450WHP and I think we absolutely nailed that. I could not be any happier with the outcome of the car!

I had a 03 WRX and I miss it all the time. I love my 06 STi, but that bugeye will always hold a special place in my heart.

@@Smeedia what would be your go to engine mods for a bugeye other then oil pan baffle, pickuptube, radiator and aos? I have an 03 and I am curious what I should do engine wise. Its a touge car so I just want it to be peppier

Currently just catless since I’m doing a hell of a lot of regular maintenance that ends up being minor upgrades if available. Not shooting for the moon since the car has 154k miles and I have my 10th Gen Civic Si as the “power car” since it’s sitting at ~320whp right now.
That 07 Sounds so freaking good, I love that thing.
It’s the perfect level for a street car, not too loud or too quiet 🔥

I have a 13 STI, and get right around 400hp, 390.15hp/ 332.41ft/lbs on the mustang. I have to say the Tomei equal length, Grimmspeed bb500, IBR flex fuel, IAG 550 short block, and GFB hybrid bpv sound amazing. Probablly also helps it was JR Tuned, by Shift Fast in SC.

In the UK we bolt Detonation cans to the inlet manifold to listen to Det since the knock sensor/ecu isn't reliable, you won't find one pro tuner in the uk that doesn't use them on subarus, so my question is how does he know it isn't detting when it can be detting its tits off and the factory ecu mostly can't hear it.....
By using the knock sensor, older cars we put new knock sensors on and they’ve always been a reliable source for knock control. There is also inherent risk with pushing a factory engine. For me I don’t mind the risk. For someone who wants a ton of miles on their set up they will most likely keep it more tame and within bounds of limits.

Later this year I'll be doing a TD05 swap on my Ralliart and be pushing for 210Kw at the wheels (AWD) of 98octane petrol. Undecided if ill also get a flex fuel set up too, seeing that'll be extra money.

@@Smeedia yeah it's a bit confusing with power measurements at times 😂 here in Australia i think they use HP and Torque for new car advertisements, the 'stage tune' peeps if they say numbers use HP, where the Car enthusiasts use KW/TQ + WKW/WTQ
Nah 98octane (RON) here in Australia ain't the 98 your referring to, our 98 is your 93 i think. Only thing we have that's higher is 105/E85 but that's rare to find.
man i wish there was tuning like this by me. i dont want to do etuning cause most people wont mess with opensource. ive literally been tuning the car myself lol. yeah itll blow up one day. but i can tune drivability very well. cant figure out wgdc lol. maybe one day ill travel for a tune

Hahaha, Mazda had a recall due to spiders going for the smell of gas. They would build webs in in piping. Toyota had a recall for spiders building webs in the AC condensers too 😅

Past 400hp to the wheels my car is almost unusable on the streets. But in my belief any subie that makes 400+hp deserves a cage for sure, these cars are very capable, that’s actually what got me into Subaru was the rumble#1 and #2 was my co worker said his wrx made 381 on the dyno, I said Bull shit, he took me to lunch and when we did a 4 wheel burnout into the gymkhana to lunch I was convinced 373ftlbs of torque, I soon there after graduating college bought a Subaru, 14 years ago. Same car is on the road, 22 motors, and still going, I just keep modernizing it with new platforms as they become available and timing of course. I’d like to get the fa24 in it, maybe, the old ej257 seams to be pretty reliable especially on e 85. And I mix one or 2 gallons in my fill up of race gas since we have a station that pumps race gas for the sand dune warriors. Convenient.

Any word on Cobb "nexgen flex fuel" making its way back to the GD chassis? I know they found a way to use the tgv signal vs cambus like we were all thinking was the case. I'm still holding out hope. Can't possibly be the only one that's not given up?

12:45 Does the Hawkeye not have the fuel drain plug on either side of the tank? I've drained my '05 like that several times.
Not that I’ve seen, but doing that in a dyno is not super accessible 😅
@@Smeedia Ok. Just did a quick check. As of 03/2006 the entire Impreza line no longer has fuel drain plugs.
Didn't see it specified in the build list, but what ecu/EMS system was utilized? Accessport? Haltech?

Just sent my Wrx to the dealership. They are telling me I have 0 compression in cylinder 1 and want to charge me 15k. Should I just get a short block and do it myself or pay them 1500 to tear it down and tell me exactly what’s wrong with it?

IF it were me, I would bring it back and start tearing it down.
If it had no compression it’s either rings are gone, pistons broken, head gaskets gone gone or bent or broken valves

How does a guy up his fuel pressure? Asking for a friend. I’ve never heard of this 1050 to 1200 business.
Bump base pressure by adjusting your FPR, you run the risk of hitting the pump relief though. If you have a big enough pump you can do it. Your tuner won’t like it though 😅
