- I have my own system for teaching the footwork. This is it. It involves breaking everything down into two types of two-beat elements.

"It doesn't matter" is probably the best advice you could give anyone learning anything new that doesn't involve a firearm.
Or explosives. Or wild animals. Or noxious chemicals. Or considerable altitudes or depths.
Everything else, though, pretty much.
It doesn't matter if you're using the crowded city roads to do your Formula One tryout sessions.
What could possibly go wrong...
Allahu Ackbar!
Exactly! ISIS is misunderstood!
They just wanted to join the F1 tournaments!
Race cars of peace.
You are the master of the single take. Respect.
Talking about what he loves.
RaggedFlag Lindy loves everything he talks about :D Even if he talks about something he hates. "hate out of passion"
Thank you. Unusually, I did two takes of this, and then had a tough time picking between them, because they were exactly the same length and very similar in quality, even though the jokes and minor aspects of what I talked about were different.
@@lindybeige do a video of all the takes not used please Lloyd.
Can you make videos of just you saying, "let me reassure you, everything is alright." because I got a large sense of comfort from that..
You've got it! /watch?v=9xgOwhfcxWg
hahahaha I was wondering why he made that video! The source is revealed!
@@drink__more__water .... I never knew this happened until you commented.
I came for the military history and ended up doing my first Lindy Hop class yesterday. Love it! Cheers
I keep tripping over my battle-axe when I do my rock-step. What am I doing wrong?
Hold the axe near the head on 1 and 2, then let your forward movement carry the head forward as you slide your hand down the grip on 3 and 4.
Hi Matt! Thanks for your question, and we are working on finding you an answer.
Thank you again for contacting us! I can't resolve your problem, so i will be transferring you to another department. Thank you!
Hello Matt! I'm here to resolve any and all problems you might have.
It seems you are a knobhead!
Thank you for contacting us. and I'm glade we where able to help you with your issue!
it's really more an etiquette thing...just leave it at the door with your broadsword and dagger...[though the dagger may be carried in case of recalcitrant follows]
When rocking out, your axe should be held in the air triumphantly.
How else are you going to get Eddie Van Halen?
@@lindybeige That sounds an awful lot like the Lancre stick and bucket dance
6:34 dude, that's just how I dance... simplifies everything.
feel like every time lindy makes a dance video his normal subscribers just sit awkwardly at the back of the room holding axes and wearing ww2 hats, while the dance community enters the channel for a video and leaves again.
I'm more of just a lloyd fan at this point who will just watch anything he makes regardless of what it's about.
I can still dance with my armour!… and my Axe!
"Never give a sword to a man who can't dance"
And the man in the back said "Everyone, Attack!" and it turned into a ballroom blitz!
I'd love to see both of you dancing a whole song. No explanations (maybe as captions) just a full-on dance.
You have a dance named after you!?
Yes. It happened that way round. In 1927 they called it Lindy hop after me. I moisturise a lot.
He probably just has a terrible-looking portrait locked in his attic.
Sweating is the new moisturising routine.
Bora Başaran that's racist
You know too much.
Oh dammit, I feel like I missed the first lesson and now I'm sitting in class trying to find someone who was on the first lesson and take their notes
"99.972% of all footwork done in lindyhop belongs to either type A or type B"??
I'm suspicious of the validity of your quoted significant figures Nikolas.
Always question everything. Did you know that 86.4 % of all statistics are just made up on the spot?
Seventy-two per cent of people know that.
60% of the time, I hear that joke every time. ;-)
However, 100% of people quoting this very fact, have been medically proven to exercise a memory for Guinness adverts.
20% of all people believe Einstein said that
You will never know how much this has freed my thinking about swing style dancing. Thank you, thank you. I come from the south and southwestern part of the USA. The dancing styles in the southwestern part are dances that are basically the Texas Two Step and several variations of two step. Dances where if the steps aren't mirrored there will be pain. I could never do dancing like you demonstrate, I always prided myself on being able to follow anyone. I could learn the steps but I couldn't figure the cues one gets from the person leading. OMG! I don't have to. Basically if we are both doing A or B then if our steps aren't mirrored, step for step, so what. The occasional difference adds a little cool to it. I feel like Dorothy. It was there all the time.
I gotta say Lindy, you're adding a little sophistication to my life one video at a time. I love the broad range of topics you cover and the fact that you do so many things, never dull. Keep at it.
This footwork is far more superior compared to the HEMA footwork, if you do this during a duel you'll confuse the enemy and win without much effort.
And if you're really good you might even seduce your enemy.
00Trademark00 Sounds like a bad roll in dnd
@Ezekiel: Definitely if you're fighting a gelatinous blob.
This is brilliant, I love the variation in your content.
I love this man and his method of teaching. He's so light with humor. 10 thumbs up
I can't believe Lindy stole my dancing style near the end. I expect royalties.
We need more of this, please! I love lindybeiged Lindyhop and fancy quite a bit of a lindyhopped Lindybeige as well!
a true renaissance man
This sorta stuff is why I love this channel
It's one of my favourite dance styles to do. I like the zaniness to it, the aesthetic, the jazz/swing music and the overall freedom you feel with it.
I'v never done partner Lindyhop (never had a partner to do it with), but I love doing solo style. Like Al & Leon.
Truly amazing! You have made the dance so much fun in just a few minutes.
A great teacher. You made basic steps easier to learn. After we get the basic one, change it to triple step. Brilliant! Thank you very much.
More of this :) it's always nice to learn something new from someone who is obviously enjoying themselves, precisely the reason i watch this channel!
Can the Lindy Hop not be done in Lindybeige's knitted jumper?.
The jumper must stay in Britain.
Bad things might happen.
Its national treasure at this point.
Thank you for sharing. She was a real treat.
I've no clue why this is entertaining, but yet again, you amaze me with your wide talents
Lovley simple breakdown of the three basic steps! Thank you.
I adore the variety of content on this channel. More of this, please. :D
I have been waiting for this , it was an inevitability.
Great video!
Watched it over lunch. Loving the footwork!
A refreshing take on learning a dance. Thank you!
I watch your channel for the military history, but this is great too! Probably the most cognizant explanation of lindy hop I've ever heard.
I was missing a lot your Lindy Hop videos, please do more!!
Brilliant video. I've been subbed for a while and was waiting for the day I could catch one of your lindy videos
The fact that Lindybiege knows the Lindy Hop and can teach it to others is satisfying to my heart. It's heart satisfying.
Love it! Thanks so much
BRILLIANT - I agree always remember my Brother saying its all in the shoulders and at a disco he never moved his feet ! just his shoulders to the beat and he still looked cool -God Bless him RIP brother. Loved video.
Proof that I will watch literally anything provided that ur boi Lloyd is doing it
Lindy never ceases to amaze me!
I'm not much of a dancer but LindyBeige makes everything interesting.
Im actually glad Lindy touched on this subject again. It honestly is because of this channel I've checked out some Lindyhop and i gotta say i like the jazzyness.
Cool vid. Love you two
This is very satisfying to watch.
Bravo, maestro! Excellent presentation!
I love these unexpected lindyhop videos!
May I just say thanks you, I’ve been doing a bit of swing/jazz dancing here and a bit there and my feet are a bit too slow to follow the rest of me and I’m now super relaxed for my big dance tomorrow. Thank you.
Luv it!
Very awesome..happy thanksgiving to you and your family
Very good Maestro !
I love your videos !
Fabulous!
Great teacher!
Love this video you are a man of. Many talents
I last went to a Lindy hop work shop with my wife recently without having any previous experience in partner dancing. What happened was exactly what you describe...For a while I managed to keep the steps up, while my body wanted to move freely to the music. Ok... with the basic steps it worked ok more or less after some time, but things became worse, when more steps were introduced (6-count, 8-count and turns). That's why I find your statements so helpful and encouraging: It doesn't matter! Everything is alright! Thank you for that!
That bound step is intriguing. I'm 67 and this looks like a great way to exercise while having a lot of fun.
I'm here cause I've been rewatching the lackadaisy pilot and I thank you for the quick lesson
Thank! I'm courting a lady into swing and lindy hop dancing. This video is a life saver.
Report on progress please. Its been 5 months
I love this.
This is quite unusual but quite refreshing at the same time
Excellent entertaining instruction; artistry inspiration
Such a fitting dance for this channel
What a likeable fellow. I shall practice this when I am next free. Thanks
Lindy, I have been consuming some of your more history related stuff before, and I have always enjoyed it very much, but never much engaged with it. Now I've moved into a new city and thought Id maybe start learning to dance, to have something new and fun to do as well.
Now I found you doing this.
I am pleasantly surprised after my confusion at first, you do an excellent job. I am now very amused and very eager to go learn how to dance to jazz, on top of playing it.
Thanks
This was so fun to watch! And super helpful, too. You have broken down the mystery of Lindy Hop 😅😂
Yay! Dance videos!
The lady is so gracious to hear every word and not give her own opinion
How can someone be so entertaining and charming?!
I randomly search things I’m interested in, and bam as always good ol’ Lindybeige is there!
Thanks for that, really enjoyed the video!
Really great explanation! I liked it. Thanks a lot!
this guy has such a great attitude!
i new this was coming .. even tho i would never participate in this normally MY LOYALTY IS UNWAVERING
ALL HAIL LINDYBEIGE FOLLOW TO YOUR DOOM
Until he says invade Russia, that's just madness.
LindyBeige is the most scattered CZcams Channel I watch.
Fantastic tutorial!!!! You area master of dance. Hugs from Cape Town, South Africa.
Great video!
I always wondered why a lot of times when I see very good lindy dancers dancing they are not triple stepping especially to fast songs. Triple stepping is what I've always been told to do, and now I realise they've been doing the 'single time' footwork or another one of the right type A or B which I'll have to try out doing myself.
The best teachers of the arts, martial, dance or otherwise, are able to leave you with something relevant in most walks of life and rather than strict edicts focus on helping you find a flow that works for your own self discovery. I believe that this is so with Lindybeige and his advice on this matter. "It doesn't matter", in this context, feels very familiar. If you think about it, it isn't that far from the phrases many would certainly know: "the way is no way", etc. Sage advice! Bravi, bravi, bravi! To discourage limitation and to encourage expression and innovation is.. I feel.. an element most great teachers possess. Rather than lording over the works of others they help them find their own way while giving aid in the process.
the chillest Lindy Hop instruction u could find 😆
I just cant learn from this very mechanical feeling way to teach. and then I got to end and now I get it. thanks.
Brilliant!!! My partner has neural myopathy (thus balance issues) and is intimidated with trying the "Lindy". Love this approach. The steps will come. Start with the fun!
Wonderful! I had asked on a previous video when we were to get more Lindy for our Beige!
I had no idea these dance videos were a part of his content. Super cool
So glad all the pogoing at the school disco in the early '80s wasn't wasted and I can now, thanks to Lindy , dance!
much love, from Newcastle!
This channel has come a long way.
Thanks alot!
Let me say this: your accent is sooo easy to understand and sounds lovely! Loved it a lot. Great teaching video, too. :)
Great instruction and great message Lindy! Especially the message. As an English teacher I know how many student's are held back by their embarrassment.
I'm actually really glad you posted this; I've been looking at learning swing and similar dancing styles for a while and had a very heated debate with my friend over thanksgiving dinner about it, so the timing couldn't have been better. Perhaps more of these types of videos when you can?
What the heck am i watching and why am i enjoying it its just lindy going bap bap bap bi bap bom for 7 mins
Your so funny. I just show wiling, just to keep a pulse! Thanks for making it fun, my husband took lessons and now we’re those people that need the routine, “right” steps, I am trying to get us to loosen up and free style but for some reason it seams more difficult after our years of lessons. I hope you inspire our creativity and make US more funner again. From snow day spring in Minneapolis.
Would the "Lindy hop" be better performed with a Bren gun or a Spandau?
A bren gun improves everything. It's a bit like cream.
Lindybeige cream doesn't improve everything. Try putting it in a fuel tank.
I can confirm. Czechnology!
Wesley Welch
Or a girl.
Given that the dancing he shows had always been called the Charleston, and the Lindy Hop is also a well defined different dance with overwhelmingly consistent nomenclature the spandau episode is analogous
I really do enjoy these dancing videos.
Hell yeah. Let's see some more dance vids.
Man! How many things can you do?
Five.
Lindybeige ya sure?
Okay I got wayyyy too excited about this video.
4:30 aww I was hoping for Skallagrim
Now THAT's comedy!
Lindybeige is definately the most versitile channel on the youtube.
thank you very much! I liked it a lot 🐱
Thanks dude, ill give it a go
