  • Enjoy our professional recording of The Enchiridion (or "Handbook") by Epictetus. The Enchiridion is a classic philosophical text that collects Epictetus' core ethical teachings. Though there is no record of his actual writing, his pupil Arrian was able to compile this distillation of Epictetus spoken oratory. The text that remains offers a keen understanding of his thought, and has preserved one of western philosophy’s brightest minds for generations to come.
Born in 55 AD, the Greek Stoic Philosopher Epictetus overcame slavery and a crippling injury to become one of the greatest minds of his age. This audio book is narrated by Antonia Bath.
The Enchiridion by Epictetus, translated by George Long, was published in 1877 and is now in the public domain. This audio book was recorded by LearnOutLoud.com and is narrated by Antonia Bath. I am so happy to have found this particular recording. It's the only one matching the translation I just bought. 46 and I'm only learning of these things now. But I am grateful. What brilliant men these ancients. We seem fools beside them. I feel as one. Blessings

If you want to reflect upon this at the same time, change speed to .75.

41:50 The best part to me. People often take judgmental stances and give their opinions in place of observations. As if the observation itself isn't enough and needs some spice.

Nice, but the sculpture is of Epicur, not Epictetus.
